Chapter 306: 140. The simple folk customs of Elwood Village_2

Alice looked at Helen with suspicion and said, "You're not just saying that on purpose, are you? Donnie didn't mention anything about this just now!"

Helen looked towards Donnie, asking with an implied meaning, "Donnie, did you really not tell Alice about this?"

Donnie looked at the two quarreling women without any presumptuous thoughts, and simply smiled calmly.

"Tomorrow I won't be going to the beach, nor will I go to WRPA, because I have my own things to do."

The military arms from Colt Company and Springfield Company were scheduled to arrive in Atlantic City tomorrow, and Donnie also needed to check the quality of the goods these two companies had prepared for him.

Upon hearing Donnie's reply, both Helen and Alice blushed, then suddenly stood up and said loudly.

"You must come to my place!"

Donnie poured himself a glass of red wine, swirled it gently, and said, "In Atlantic City, no one can tell me what to do yet!"

"You!"

Alice looked at Donnie huffily.

Just as an angry Helen was about to speak, she suddenly smiled and said, "Since you can't come to our WRPA tomorrow, Donnie, why don't you come the day after? We really have been wanting to invite you to give us a lecture!"

Seeing Helen's demeanor, Alice immediately lost the anger on her face and even boldly approached Donnie, wrapping her arm around his, "Donnie, I've been in Atlantic City for several days now, but I haven't really had the chance to explore it properly. Will you accompany me on a stroll on the beach?"

Donnie pulled his arm free and smiled, "I can agree to both requests, but, I must set the time!"

"Hey...."

Alice, about to get angry again, saw Helen sitting quietly on the sofa and immediately said obediently, "Fine! I'll listen to you in everything!"

"Hmph!" Helen gave Alice a disdainful glance!

Donnie pointed to the red wine and snacks on the table and asked, "So, do you still want to drink now, or if not, I'm going to go back to my room to sleep!"

"We do!"

Alice shouted loudly, simultaneously giving Helen a provocative look.

"A glass of red wine before bed helps with sleep!" Helen retorted not to be outdone.

Obviously, their drinking was not just about a glass of red wine.

When Donnie woke up, he rubbed his head and showed a helpless expression; indeed, sleeping on the sofa wasn't the best feeling.

He didn't know until what time they had drunk last night, but Helen and Alice were both definitely drunk, although nothing actually happened.

The identities of these two women were too special. Even though this kind of thing was relatively open in the United States at that time.

However, it was clear that their situations were different, and if something had really happened.

Donnie was unsure what the families behind them would do.

So he put the two of them in different bedrooms, and he could only sleep on the sofa.

After getting up, Donnie went to the bathroom and started to pee.

But midway, the bathroom door opened, and there was Helen in her nightgown with one strap fallen off, her hair in disarray, rubbing her sleepy eyes and walking in, only to see Donnie peeing.

"Morning!"

"Morning!"

"You continue!"

"Thank you!"

Bang!

The bathroom door closed.

There were sounds of water running inside the bathroom, and hurried footsteps outside.

Donnie finished up and stepped out of his room, only to see Helen already dressed in a coat, bustling around in the dining room.

"Have breakfast before you go!"

Helen stood in the kitchen, turned to look at Donnie with a composed expression, but deep in her eyes, there was still a hint of panic!

Donnie nodded and said, "Thanks!"

A simple breakfast of toast, fried eggs, and sausages.

While eating, Donnie asked Helen, "Where's Alice?"

Helen put milk in front of Donnie and said, "Don't worry about her, she won't get up before 10 o'clock. You eat first, I'm going to get ready!"

Donnie expressed his thanks again.

Helen walked gracefully to the bathroom and closed the door behind her. The calm façade vanished, she clutched her chest and gasped for breath, her gaze involuntarily shifting towards the toilet…

.

"Helen, I'm leaving first. Just lock the door when you leave!"

From inside the bathroom, Helen's voice came, "Got it!"

After leaving his place, Donnie had Steve Cotting drive the car back to Elwood Village. The military arms from Colt and Springfield were going to be directly delivered to Elwood Village to avoid trouble.

Indeed, bringing such a large shipment of arms directly into Atlantic City would be problematic.

The 15-mile journey took over half an hour, but finally, they arrived at Elwood Village.

When Donnie arrived, he was immediately welcomed by the villagers.

Although Donnie rarely came back to Elwood Village now, every person there remembered the good he had done for them.

In the past, the income of the villagers in Elwood Village was only four or five hundred dollars a year, but now, their monthly income had surpassed 500 dollars!

This was all thanks to Donnie.

In Elwood Village, Father Garcia used to be the most respected figure; now, it was Donnie.

"Dear Donnie, it's been a long time since you've been back. Have you forgotten that this is truly your hometown?" Jeffrey Cotting, Steve Cotting's father, called out loudly.
