Chapter 324: Act 82 The Story of Turbulence and Yu (4)_2

Qian suddenly flashed a smile: "Why would you want to join me? You must have ulterior motives, right?"

"How could that be." The few who were seen through hurriedly shook their hands.

She raised her head and stared at one of the young men, who quickly lowered his head, "Idiot." Qian snorted in her heart.

"Suit yourselves." She turned around and replied.

The few young men were stunned looking at the girl's back. They didn't understand that the girl was worried; the strength of the "Paper Card" Mercenary Group was probably far beyond their expectations. But why didn't Captain Makaro order a retreat for now? Instead, he insisted on executing the original plan. Was it because he was confident, or was there another reason?

Qian pressed her hand against her chest, feeling her heartbeat fiercely. But since the commander had given the order, she had no room for defiance. The only remaining thing she could rely on was the gun in her hand. She tightened her Thunder Gun, the gun was a gift from Ecco on her fifteenth birthday, bought from a merchant. She had long been determined to fight to the last moment with this ax gun, even if it meant losing her life.

Sometimes, Qian even felt that this was the whole meaning of her life.

However, after walking for a while, she thought of something. She turned her head and asked: "I remember that merchant had camped here, right? Why haven't I seen him?"

"Perhaps he's... gotten lost..."

The few young men, following along, hesitated as they replied. After all, they weren't Captain Makaro's trusted followers. In fact, not everyone in the Grey Wolf Mercenary Group knew Brand's identity; most still believed they were just temporarily allied as they seemed on the surface.

The girl frowned, "Then let's search in this direction."

"Is this... okay?"

"Why wouldn't it be? The Grey Wolf Mercenary Group can't afford to be called treacherous." Qian replied.

The few people behind laughed again with muffled snorts. Obviously, it was about her softened heart, but she had to find a righteous excuse. Most of them were willing to join her just to watch the joke of this young lady's contradictions in her words, of course, mainly out of goodwill.

But just as the girl finished speaking, another strange laugh echoed in the forest. The laughter was harsh and piercing, like the creaking of the scarecrows in the nobles' manor they had seen in Jandener's flatlands, hollow and dull, filled with a sense of dread.

Qian's face changed, she lifted her head.

She immediately saw the figure standing on the treetop, dressed in a black robe with red edges, emitting the laughter – and on the other side of this figure, a large green beast was coiled on another black pine. The monster had a goat's head, its pair of flesh wings drooped down, revealing barbed black metal chains wrapped around them.

"When did it get here?"

The girl was shocked, her eyebrows furrowed all at once. Though she didn't recognize what it was, she understood that it must be a troublesome opponent.

"Little girl," the cultist in the black robe smiled, his voice sharp and shrill: "Did you say someone got lost around here?"

"None of your business." Qian raised her ax gun, gritting her teeth as she answered.

In this attack, the Grey Wolf Mercenary Group had lost a squad of sentries, among them was an older sister with whom she was very close. Although mercenaries had long been accustomed to life and death, it didn't mean she could get along with the enemy responsible for all this calmly. Life and death were mercenaries' choices. But the enemy was the enemy, there was no coexisting.

"Never mind, one of my colleagues seemed to have fallen at their hands, so I'll be taking my anger out on you first." The Black Fire Cultist laughed eerily again: "Abaches."

With a clang, a black iron chain swept towards the girl across the distance.

Qian groaned in response, striking the chain with her gun. However, the force responding through her arm made her secretly startled. Just one hit had already made her entire right arm tingle with numbness. But her reaction clearly exceeded the high-level Black Fire Cultist's expectations, "Silver Power! As expected, Makaro's subordinates are indeed full of hidden talents. Even a little girl has such power, unexpected!"

"There are still many things you can't imagine — Logos, Electric Arrow!"

Qian gritted her teeth, answering as she reversed her grip on the gun and thrust it towards the guy—a bolt of lightning immediately flashed, pulling a long arc along the ax gun's blade edge. With a crackling sound, the electric arc leaped across dozens of meters towards the high-level Black Fire Cultist.

But before the electric arc hit the black-robed man, it was blocked by an invisible shield. Sparks flew, and the side of the high-level Black Fire Cultist's pine tree instantly charred and curled, but he himself remained unmoved, not a single edge of his robe was swayed.

"A second-level Magic Weapon, rare indeed." After a while, the black-robed man finally clicked his tongue.

By this time, Qian had completely cooled down inside, taking a deep breath, she only felt her limbs icy cold. But after a moment of terror, a surge of anger rose from within her. She glanced back to see her companions drawing their weapons to join the battle and couldn't help but angrily shout, "Run, what are you waiting for!"

"Qian..."

"Captain, you?" The few young men were stunned all of a sudden.

"Run quickly, I'm not his match, let the commander bring people to save me!"

"Wishful thinking." The high-level Black Fire Cultist snorted coldly. As he raised his hand, the monster beside him immediately shot out another chain.

This time, the target was the young men—

"Damn it!"

Qian gritted her teeth, thrusting the gun towards the chain, with a loud bang, the chain and the Thunder Gun bounced in opposite directions. But the red-haired girl immediately lifted her hand, a thunder arc flashed between her and the gun, and in the next moment, the ax gun flew back into her hand instantly—seeming as if the two were mutually sensing each other.

"Element Resonance!" The Black Fire Cultist shrieked.
