Chapter 6: Chapter 1: An Extraordinary Beginning Episode 6: The Truth Begins to Unfold
The sound of birds chirping accompanied the cool breeze that swept through the back porch on a Saturday morning. Akira sat at a long wooden table under the eaves, a music notebook and blank sheets of paper for jotting down ideas laid out before him. He was deep in thought, trying to compose a melody for a short song—a homework assignment due the following week. Yet, his mind remained blank, unable to piece together a coherent tune.
Tapping his pen lightly against the table's edge, he hummed a few scattered notes in his mind. Suddenly, a faint whisper seemed to drift through the air, carried by the breeze.
"Akin…"
The voice was soft, barely louder than the wind, but clear enough to startle him. He looked up sharply, scanning the surroundings. There was no one else around, just him and the rustling leaves swayed by the gentle wind.
"Am I imagining things?" he muttered under his breath, shaking his head before returning his gaze to the blank paper.
Moments later, footsteps sounded from the back of the house. His father, Parin, and mother, Irene, approached with coffee mugs and an old notebook in hand. Both looked deep in thought, their expressions heavy with contemplation. Irene leaned closer to Parin, whispering something Akira couldn't fully make out. However, two words caught his attention: "Celes" and "Arcadia."
"What were you talking about just now?" Akira asked, looking up curiously.
Both parents froze briefly, exchanging a quick glance before Parin replied in a steady tone, "Oh, nothing important. Just work stuff."
"I see…" Akira murmured, though his curiosity lingered. Still, he decided not to press further.
Shortly after, Irene stepped closer to him, carrying a small, ornate wooden box. The intricate carvings on the box hinted at its age and significance. She placed it gently on the table in front of Akira and sat down beside him.
"Akin," Irene began softly, her voice filled with warmth, "there's something I've been meaning to give you."
Akira eyed the box with a mix of curiosity and surprise. When Irene lifted the lid, it revealed a simple necklace with a blue gemstone at its center. The gem seemed to emit a faint, living glow.
"What is this necklace?" Akira asked, unable to take his eyes off it, as if the gem was calling out to him.
"It's something precious," Irene replied, her gaze tender yet tinged with unease. "I want you to keep it close to you at all times."
Akira carefully took the necklace into his hands, the soft blue light pulsing faintly in a rhythm that seemed to match his heartbeat.
"Why is it so important?" he questioned.
Parin sat down on the other side of the table, his voice calm yet firm. "Sometimes, we don't realize the value of something until the time comes. But trust me, everything your mother and I have done is to prepare you for what lies ahead."
"What lies ahead?" Akira pressed, but his father only looked at him with unwavering eyes, leaving the question unanswered.
Akira turned to his mother. Irene simply nodded with a reassuring smile. "Just promise me you'll keep it safe. It will guide you when the time is right."
Though his mind swirled with unanswered questions, Akira nodded quietly, slipping the necklace into his pocket. Irene smiled softly, then rose and walked back into the house with Parin.
As evening fell, Akira sat alone in his room. He pulled out the necklace, holding it up to the dim light. This time, the blue gemstone glowed faintly, and fragmented images began to form in his mind. He saw a vision of an ancient temple surrounded by snow, the cold biting deep into his imagination. The intricate patterns of stars appeared before him, yet everything was hazy and indistinct.
"What is this…?" he muttered, shaking his head to break free from the trance.
Placing the necklace on his desk, Akira exhaled deeply. He could feel it in his bones—his once-ordinary life was on the verge of changing in ways he could never have foreseen.
