Chapter 2: chapter 2
Chapter Two
Alpha Reborn: A Luna's Revenge
Nora's POV
I felt a hand on my leg, and my eyes shot open. My heart sank when I saw Keal's smug face looming over me.
"What are you doing?" I demanded, trying to push him away. The chains around my ankle rattled, keeping me tethered in place.
Keal smirked, unfazed by my resistance. "Poor Nora," he drawled. "When will you learn that I can help you? I can take away all this pain… if only you'd accept me as your mate."
I spat at him, glaring with all the disgust I could muster. "I am only mated to your brother! I will never be your mate."
His smirk twisted into a cold chuckle. Before I could react, his hand was around my neck, squeezing just enough to make his power clear.
"You still think Ezra is going to save you?" Keal sneered. "He's dead, Nora. Gone. I'm the Alpha now—the one in control. You don't have to keep suffering. Just say the word, and all this will end."
For a fleeting moment, I wanted to tear his face apart. My wolf, Lara, stirred within me, fighting to take control. I felt my eyes flash yellow, but the chains and the silver weakened her, keeping her at bay.
Keal leaned in closer, his grip tightening. "What's the matter? Is your little wolf trying to come out?" He laughed mockingly. "You're weak, Nora. Both of you are. As long as I'm Alpha, you have nothing. I'm giving you one last chance—accept me, and I'll show you mercy. The pack doesn't have to see you as a killer anymore."
I growled low, my anger burning through the cold chains that held me down. "I didn't kill Ezra, and you know it," I hissed. "I loved him. I was happy—happy to be his Luna. I would never hurt him."
Keal released me with a scoff, stepping back toward the door. He glanced over his shoulder with a cruel smirk. "It doesn't matter what you say. To everyone else, you're a murderer. You'll never be part of this pack again."
I watched him walk away, and as the door slammed shut, I let out a scream of frustration. I slammed the chains against the cold, hard floor, sinking back against the wall.
The freezing stone seeped through my clothes, but I didn't care. Wrapping my arms around myself for warmth was pointless—I wasn't Luna anymore. I wasn't even a person in their eyes.
I sat there for what felt like hours, my mind a whirlwind of rage and despair. Ezra was gone. He'd left me here in this living hell, and I didn't know how I was supposed to go on without him.
The door creaked open again, and two guards stepped in. Before I could react, they grabbed me, hauling me to my feet like a rag doll.
I tried to resist, but they were too strong. Their iron grips left no room for escape. They dragged me out of the cell, and I blinked against the sudden brightness of the hallway. Before I knew it, I was standing in the pack kitchen.
The room fell silent. The maids all stopped what they were doing, their eyes locking on me. Some looked at me with disgust. Others with pity.
The guards released the chains on my wrists, but the one on my ankle remained, its weight a constant reminder of my captivity. I looked around in confusion, trying to understand what was happening. Then the door opened again, and Keal strode in.
"Hello, Nora," he said, his voice dripping with mockery.
I glared at him but said nothing.
Keal turned to the room, addressing the maids. "Today, we have a new addition to your staff. I want you all to welcome her and teach her the rules. Show her how things are done here. If she misbehaves, you report it directly to me."
I stared at him in shock, my blood boiling at his words. He was making me a maid?
Before he could leave, I grabbed his arm, stopping him in his tracks. "A maid? I am a Luna, Keal," I said, my voice trembling with anger.
He turned slowly, his expression one of cold amusement. He leaned in close, his voice a venomous whisper. "You were a Luna, Nora. But since you refuse to accept me, maybe a little suffering will help you see sense."
Keal shoved me to the ground, and the chains on my ankle clattered loudly. I lay there, stunned, as he walked away. The other maids didn't move to help me. They just stared, some with pity, others with indifference.
As the door closed behind him, a hand reached out to me. I looked up to see a young lady, her eyes filled with sympathy.
"I'm sorry you're being treated like this," she said softly.
Before I could respond, another maid marched over. Her expression was cold and sharp. "Alex, you know the Alpha doesn't tolerate delays. Do you want to end up on his punishment list?"
Alex hesitated before stepping back, leaving me alone with the other maid. The woman looked down at me with a cruel smirk.
"You don't want to keep the Alpha waiting, do you, slave?" she sneered.
I clenched my fists, holding back the rage threatening to consume me.
She pointed toward the sink, her voice icy. "Start with the dishes. And don't even think about poisoning the food."
I stepped closer, glaring at her with barely restrained fury. "And who are you to give me orders?"
Her smirk widened. "You'll find out soon enough. Now get to work."
She turned and walked away, leaving me standing there, seething. I took a deep breath, forcing myself to calm down. My wolf stirred inside me, furious but helpless.
No matter what, I would find a way out of this. And when I did, Keal would pay for everything he'd done.
