Chapter 19: It's not about you this time...
Lyra had no idea when she had fallen asleep, but waking up in Casian's bed was the last thing she expected.
Jerking upright, she glanced around the chamber, finding it empty.
Where did he go? She wondered before slowly climbing down from the bed.
With Casian nowhere in sight, Lyra quietly made her way toward the door, hoping to slip out unnoticed. However, as she stepped into the hallway, she nearly collided with Linda, who blocked her path.
Linda's sharp gaze pierced through Lyra's fragile frame, her hands balling into fists.
"What were you doing in Casian's chamber?" she asked, her tone cold and devoid of emotion.
Lyra immediately sensed the disdain in Linda's stare and quickly lowered her gaze.
Her silence came off as defiance to Linda, though that wasn't the case. Lyra simply had no way to respond without her notebook. With Casian, communication was easy—he could hear her. But the rest of them? They would only understand her if she wrote her words down.
Linda's lips curled in irritation at Lyra's lack of response. "Are you mocking me?" she snapped, her glare drilling into Lyra's small frame.
Lyra quickly shook her head, but to Linda, it only seemed like further arrogance. No one in this household had ever dared defy her. And yet, this useless girl stood before her, seemingly unbothered just because Casian had taken her in and given her shelter.
"You—" Before Linda could lash out, Penny appeared just in time.
"My lady, the Alpha has asked you to take your medication."
Linda's sharp gaze snapped to Penny, who quickly lowered her eyes and bowed. Though she found the interruption rude, Linda knew she couldn't disobey Casian's orders. Without wasting another second on them, she turned on her heels and walked away.
Once Linda was out of sight, Penny let out a relieved sigh and turned to Lyra, who gave her a confused look.
"She wouldn't have left if I hadn't lied, my lady," Penny admitted, leaving Lyra speechless.
Without another word, they returned to Lyra's chamber.

"What are you saying, my lady? The Alpha wants you to be his personal maid?!" Penny's eyes widened in disbelief as she read what Lyra had written.
Her gaze darted back to Lyra, who nodded in confirmation.
"But that's not your job! You're the Luna. You're meant to stand equal to the Alpha!" Penny argued, still struggling to process the fact that Casian had even considered Lyra's request to work in the mansion.
Lyra silently pondered her words. She hadn't expected Casian to grant her request, but now that he had, she couldn't go against his decision.
Closing her book quietly, Lyra settled onto the bed, her thoughts drifting to Casian. 'Why was he making it so difficult for her to leave his life quietly?' She pondered feeling the heaviness of the bond.

Meanwhile, in the Dungeon, the rogue lay slumped, his body battered and exhausted after enduring Rowan's relentless beatings. Despite being caught and tortured, he refused to reveal his true intentions. Instead, he only kept asking for Casian.
Rowan's patience wore thin at the man's lack of cooperation, but the moment he spotted Casian approaching, his anger shifted into something more composed.
"I hope the man is still alive," Casian remarked, casting Rowan a meaningful glance.
Rowan gave a curt nod. "For now. But not after the Alpha himself gives me the order to kill him."
Darius shot Rowan a disbelieving look, but Casian merely studied him, understanding the underlying fury in his words.
"Then I don't think you are needed here," Casian said, leaving Rowan surprised.
"But—" Rowan tried to object, but Casian ignored him and strode past, entering the cell without another word.
Darius watched him go, then turned to Rowan with a sharp glance. "I can already sense his weak pulse. How badly did you torture him?"
Rowan's jaw clenched. "Not as much as I wanted to." His response was curt, laced with frustration.
Darius sighed, recognizing the lingering dissatisfaction in Rowan's expression. However, he knew better than to challenge Casian's authority. With a reluctant nod, he turned and left the dungeon.

[Inside the Dungeon]
Casian stood before the rogue, his gaze piercing, his presence suffocating. The air grew thick with his unyielding dominance, pressing down on the weakened man.
"What message does your Alpha have this time?" Casian's voice was calm, but his aura radiated lethal intent.
The rogue's breathing was labored, his body barely holding on after enduring the brutal interrogation. He knew his plan had been exposed. He had let himself be captured on purpose, and they had seen right through it.
His eyelids fluttered, but his voice remained steady despite his frailty. "It's not about you this time... but the woman you auctioned that night."
The moment those words left his lips, Casian moved.
In a blink, his hand shot out, wrapping around the rogue's throat. With a swift motion, he slammed him against the stone wall, the force sending a sickening crack through the chamber. Dust scattered from the impact, the rogue's body barely able to withstand the pressure.
Casian's grip tightened. His voice was low, dangerous. "What about the woman?"
His anger surged, a dark storm rising within him. He hadn't realized how much the rogue's words had triggered him.How just the mention of her in another Alpha's mouth made his blood boil.
The rogue gasped, struggling against the crushing hold, but Casian didn't loosen his grip. He watched the man choke, his body trembling as life drained from him.
"T-The Alpha..." The rogue's voice rasped, his words barely forming.
But before he could finish, his body went slack. His head lolled to the side, his lifeless form collapsing to the cold, bloodstained ground.
Silence filled the dungeon.
Casian let go, his fingers flexing as he took a step back. His jaw tightened.
Whatever message the rogue had tried to deliver, it had died with him.
And that only made Casian's fury burn hotter.
"Alpha!"
Darius rushed into the cell, his gaze immediately falling on the rogue's lifeless body sprawled across the cold ground. The heavy scent of blood lingered in the suffocating air, but before he could fully process the scene, Casian's voice cut through the silence.
"Return his body to where he came from. And send a message to Xaveir. I need to meet him."
Darius stood frozen for a moment, shock flickering across his face. His eyes darted to Casian, but the Alpha was already walking away, not sparing the dead rogue or Darius a second glance
