Chapter 270: License To Kill.
Leo sat in his office, the meeting with the people, and the ideas and the new products he gave them to work on, was shocking. The start-up companies that they had acquired in these past few days have been merged in the Butterfly Tech and the employees have integrated in the new teams and system.
They were given the product ideas and Leo asked them to come up with results within a week, why? Because the company was going to flood the market with high level tech and capture a big share.
With that aside, the HR department and the technology department also began to speed up the process of setting up outlets and service centers for the products. Cardinal Group was now dealing in a variety of products and the young man wanted them to gain an upper hand and create a city that was his backyard.
He was thinking about something when June knocked on the door, and she said, "Sir, Mister Simon Silence is here."
Leo nodded and said, "Send him over, June, bring a cup of coffee for me please."
June nodded with a faint smile and left the office, after a few moments, Simon knocked and Leo said, "Enter."
The young man pushed the door open and came inside. Leo didn't tell him to sit down on the couch, and so Simon stood. Leo said, "I have a few things for you to do. Can you handle them?"
Simon nodded, and Leo went on, "Clean up the city. All the goons, not just south streets, but the entire city, I want them on our payroll. The city should be clean of drugs, and other vices. Do you hear me? Use any means necessary, if the bosses of different areas don't comply, you will kill them and take over the rest. These men who don't feel guilty after sinning are better off their ways.
Intimidate, beat, pursue, or conspire, I don't care how, I want the city in my palm. Do you understand, Simon?"
Simon nodded and replied, "Yes, sir. It will be done."
Leo nodded and replied, "If you can, then have these goons transition into the mainstream and hire them as guards. And no more protection fee collection from the people. This city should be a safe haven for the people who live here, the dream is grand but when realized, it would be worth it."
Simon nodded and said, "Sir, you have given me and my brothers a chance to change our lives, I will not let you down. The underworld of the city will be under your command."
Leo nodded and said, "Get going, we have hard working days ahead of us."
The man adjusted his glasses and walked out of the office, just in time for June to come over with the coffee that Leo had asked for.
After he finished drinking his coffee, he inspected the new item that he had acquired, the license to kill.
This was not a thing awarded to him by the government, but a card issued by the system. The young man said, 'System, can you explain to me what this card is capable of?'
The system replied, 'Ping: Host, license to kill will allow you to set one person as a target. Then by playing with the strings of fate of that person the mode of death will be decided. The death could be natural or accidental.'
Leo raised his brow and asked, "Do I not have to meddle in this at all?"
The system replied, 'Ping: Yes, sir.'
The young man sighed. He was itching to make a move against the people who troubled his family. Socrates and Matilda were really tempting targets for him. However, the temporary peace that he had earned at the moment was a crucial period for him.
If the equation was thrown off balance without proper counter measures the situation will only explode in his face and that wasn't something he wanted. This card was a strategic resource and he wanted to use it like that. When the enemy comes knocking at his door in the near future, that would be the time when he would use it.
He spent most of the time thinking about the situation, and formulating plans on how to take swift actions. As he was ingrained in the thoughts, the door of his office was pushed open. Snow walked in dressed in her formal attire and said, "Love, did you forget that we have to head to the hospital?"
Leo smiled as he stood up from the chair and said, "No, I was waiting for you to get done. Shall we head out?"
Snow nodded and the couple walked out together holding hands. The last few days had been hard on them. Lily had suffered from nightmares and sleeping troubles. Snow didn't wish to put Leo under the fire for this but she couldn't help herself. Thankfully, Leo had come up with a solution, and he began to train Lily again. Gradually, in a couple of days, Lily was back to normal, because she believed that as long as she sticks to training and got stronger she would be able to fight the enemy that comes at her.
Today was the first day since the incident that she had gone to school as well. The school had been closed down for a security upgrade. Many parents had come forward with the concern of their children's safety. After a discussion with the Primal Board, Leo had taken the initiative to address these concerns and he was concise.
The people knew that it was Lily who was involved and suffered the most. So, they didn;t make things too hard. Leo had directly recruited many people retired from the military and the emergency services. The people were now designated as Marshals. They were equipped with rubber batons, and stun guns to handle any troublesome elements. Leo had given them a treatment that was better than what the government had given them. His only demand was loyalty and dedication.
This was not a placebo recruitment, all these people had gone through psych eval and would have to go through the same every week. They would have to take mandatory therapy and take part in the exercises. This was not an easy job.
After five days when the school reopened, the parents were shocked, because the gates were digital, and to enter inside you needed to go through extensive checks. The entire place was laced with cameras and all the footage was being scanned and evaluated by a special software that Leo had purchased from the system store.
If anyone with a criminal record was to approach the gates, they would be stopped, and if they are the parents of a student, then they would need to bring along their lawyer to pick up the child. The rule was strict and many people were shocked, but then they agreed.
All the staff members were also made to go through the same treatment, from the sweeper to the teachers.
At this moment, Miss Verse was standing behind the barricaded door with the students of her class. One by one the parents came over, showed the school ID and then took their children away. Finally, Leo and Snow walked over, they showed the ID and Lily walked through the barricade.
She was pouting and Leo asked while picking her up, "What is going on? Why are you pouting?"
Lily looked him in the eyes and said, "Baba, this was a fairy school, now it is an abomination."
Leo sighed and replied, "I know, but don't worry, I will come up with some idea to fix this and make it look better. I promise."
Lily hummed and asked, "Did you get the gift for Sister Zeenat?"
The young man nodded and replied, "Yes, we do, it's in the car, now, shall we head over? Uncle Jock called and said that the procedure is complete. We can take Zeenat back home."
Lily nodded with a smile and said, "Uncle Kyle, you should head home to rest. You have been standing outside and glaring at people the whole day."
Kyle was embarrassed and the others smiled as Lily continued, "Although you are a bit more suspicious of people than Sis Zee, thank you for your hard work."
Kyle was shocked but then he shook his head and replied, "Young Miss, you flatter me. Doing my job is the way to survive. You don't have to thank me for that."
Lily shook her head and replied calmly as they approached the car, "I am not thanking you for doing your job, but I am thanking you for doing it with dedication and honesty. Not many people in the world are capable of what you can do Uncle Kyle. Thank you, because of your presence I felt safe."
Kyle bowed his head and so did the other guards. The Cardinal Family had never treated them like Guards, and this was their honor. This was why they were willing to lay down their lives for them.
