Chapter 156
I had received a place called the “White World” from Hakubi and the planetary will of Seisen, but I couldn’t immediately think of a practical use for it.
“It seems pretty spacious.”
“The flow of time here is slower than outside. The area is also almost infinite, stretching endlessly,” Hakubi explained.
The White World, according to Hakubi, is a unique space unrestricted by the laws of the ordinary world.
Filled with magical power and the energy of the planet, it was an exceptionally convenient place where magic could be used freely and items could be stored without limits.
Moreover, with the flow of time slowed, it felt reminiscent of a certain famous training room from a well-known manga. And, as it turned out, the comparison wasn’t far off.
“However, caution is advised regarding plants and magical items,” Hakubi continued. “This space is imbued with the energies of the planet and life itself, so there is a possibility of significant mutations occurring.”
“Got it,” I replied.
As Hakubi suggested, the White World was filled with such a high concentration of magical energy that even someone like me, a magic novice, could feel it vividly.
Additionally, with the planet’s energy also present, there was a chance that storing potions, plants, or magical items here could cause unpredictable changes.
The thought of storing herbs or magical tools in this environment only for them to mutate into something disastrous was enough to make me tread cautiously.
(…This place might be a bit tricky to use effectively.)
On the flip side, if you were intentionally seeking mutations or wanted an ideal environment for cultivating herbs, this space would be perfect. Regular Earth-made tools that didn’t react to high magical energy should also be safe to store here.
In other words, as long as I was mindful of how I used it, the White World was an incredibly useful gift.
“What’s the matter, KAEDE?”
“Master…”
After setting a coordinate in the White World so I could freely travel to and from it via Moon Gate, I spent some time chatting with Hakubi. We promised to meet again, and then I retraced my steps to leave the area.
Since I could return anytime to a place I’d already visited, it didn’t feel like a permanent goodbye.
Rather, it felt like saying “see you later” to a neighbor. It reminded me of how I felt when parting ways with Renecto back on planet Zerad.
It seemed Hakubi felt the same way. There was no sadness in our parting—just a lighthearted, “Well, see you next time,” as I left.
When I stepped outside Hakubi’s barrier, I found Toto happily napping on the ground, swaying her head contentedly. Roro was engrossed in a book, and KAEDE was the first to notice me, rushing over to pat me down and examine me.
As KAEDE touched me repeatedly, I asked, “What’s wrong?”
“A basic health check. There has been a delay of nearly an hour in monitoring,” KAEDE explained.
“Wait, have you been monitoring me the entire time?”
KAEDE nodded, responding with a simple “Yes” while continuing to pat me down.
Apparently, KAEDE was equipped with features similar to X-rays and CT scans, enabling her to observe the internal workings of the human body.
The CT scans I knew of involved exposure to radiation, but KAEDE’s methods relied on advanced technology beyond my understanding—presumably from the future. It seemed entirely different from what I was familiar with.
(…So this might be the reason we’ve been getting closer lately?)
Though I initially thought we’d simply become more connected recently, I reconsidered. KAEDE’s concern for my health made it difficult to criticize her, though I did tell her to report to me next time.
With that, I submitted to a few minutes of her examination.
