Chapter 6: Endurance breaks the sky
After leaving home, Chen Tian made his way to Konoha's bustling business district.
"Hmm, could this be the meatball shop Uchiha Itachi frequents in the future?" Chen Tian muttered, rubbing his chin as he stepped inside.
After perusing the menu, he emerged with two skewers of tri-colored dango in hand. Taking a bite, he murmured, "Just ordinary—nothing special."
Within moments, the skewers were gone. Chen Tian took a moment to survey the shops around him.
There were barbecue joints, clothing stores, and even gambling dens.
"Everything seems so standard. No hot pot restaurants, and these clothes? Way too outdated!"
He reached into his pocket, only to find his funds severely limited. A mere hundred ryo jingled in his hand.
Seeing the price list at Ichiraku Ramen—a bowl costing eighty ryo—Chen Tian's face fell.
"Barely enough for a bowl of ramen. What else can I do with this?"
To make matters worse, ninja school was set to begin in just three days.
"Wow! What a cute little brother!"
Chen Tian's musings were interrupted by an enthusiastic voice. Turning, he saw a girl about his age stepping out of Ichiraku Ramen. She looked at his furrowed brow and exclaimed, "Are you hungry? Don't worry, big sis will treat you to some ramen!"
"I…"
Though Chen Tian didn't know the girl personally, her appearance left no doubt—this was Ayame, the future ramen shop assistant.
Before he could respond, Ayame smiled warmly and said, "No need to be shy! Ichiraku Ramen is my family's shop. I'll treat you!"
Without waiting for a reply, she turned to her father. "Dad! Let's give this little brother a bowl of ramen on the house!"
"Haha, sure thing!" Teuchi Ichiraku chuckled, nodding in agreement.
"I wasn't standing here because I was hungry!" Chen Tian protested weakly.
But before he could refuse, the aroma of fresh ramen tempted his resolve. "Well, I might as well enjoy it and pay later," he thought.
While savoring the ramen, Chen Tian's mind wandered to his long-term goals. Minato and Kushina had always supported him, but asking them for money felt like a burden.
Once the meal was finished, Chen Tian placed eighty ryo on the counter and thanked Ayame politely before leaving.
"I'll repay the kindness when you grow up, Ayame," he thought with a grin, before hurrying off to tackle his next task.
With the remaining twenty ryo, Chen Tian purchased a pen and a notebook, effectively emptying his pockets.
"Maybe I shouldn't have paid for that ramen so quickly," he muttered, shaking his head at his empty wallet.
Though Chen Tian technically had more money—around 400,000 to 500,000 ryo—it was all entrusted to Kushina, who insisted on saving it for his future.
"No matter," he thought. "I don't have the time to focus on that now. I need a plan."
Sitting in a quiet corner, Chen Tian flipped open his notebook, his determination solidifying.
He scrawled four bold words across the first page: Endurance Breaks the Sky.
That's right—his plan was to introduce bestselling stories from his previous life to this world.
Having skimmed Jiraiya's The Legend of Perseverance at Minato's house, he found it lackluster at best.
"If something like that can become a hit, there's no way these stories won't sell!"
Driven by his memories, Chen Tian's pen flew across the pages. By the time Minato returned home that afternoon, Chen Tian had already written more than 20,000 words.
In the living room, Minato and Kushina sat discussing Chen Tian's future.
"I've already secured his admission certificate for the ninja academy," Minato said, proudly waving the document.
"But don't you think it's a little wasteful? His chakra reserves are extraordinary," Kushina replied, her tone thoughtful.
Minato smiled. "True, but Chen Tian himself said he wanted to attend."
And with that, they decided his fate for the next six years.
Little did they know that Chen Tian's earlier interest in the academy had vanished the moment he acquired the Nine-Tails' purple card.
Yet even if he found out, Chen Tian might still have been grateful. Ninja school admission was no small feat. If it weren't for Minato's influence, the academy would have been overrun with applicants.
Meanwhile, rumors swirled across Konoha.
Thanks to the efforts of certain individuals, Orochimaru's reputation was plummeting, while Minato's was steadily rising.
Even the Hyuga clan was undergoing upheaval. Hinata's father, Hizashi, was managing a complicated family situation, with multiple pregnancies on the horizon.
Oblivious to the political undercurrents, Chen Tian poured his heart into his writing. His notebook was already brimming with chapters, each one more gripping than the last.
By evening, a triumphant Chen Tian sat back, admiring his progress. His new venture had begun.
