ALITA BATTLE ANGEL : return of Hugo

Chapter 3: CHAPTER 2:

The whole crown erupted in shouts as they both crashed across the finish line.

"The crowd was not expecting that. It seems like our undefeated champion has found her rival and I must say he has something against her." The commentator said under hi breath as he could not keep his excitement down.

Alita's eyes locked onto Hugo's, the air thick with tension. The roar of the Motoball crowd faded into the background as they stood frozen, their gazes piercing through the chaos.

Alita's mind reeled, memories she thought were long buried resurfacing like a tidal wave. Hugo's presence awakened a mix of emotions: joy, sadness, and a deep-seated longing. Her hand instinctively went to the pendant around her neck, a token from their past together.

Hugo's expression, however, was a mask of cold calculation. His eyes, once bright and full of life, now seemed dull and menacing. Alita sensed the turmoil brewing beneath his surface, but he didn't seem to recognize her.

Without warning, Hugo lunged at Alita, his movements lightning-fast and deadly. Alita barely dodged his attack, her cybernetic reflexes saving her from a vicious blade.

As Hugo pressed his attack, Alita realized that he was no ordinary opponent. His skills were honed to perfection, his movements economical and precise. She parried his blows, but Hugo's relentless assault pushed her to her limits.

Just as Hugo landed a devastating kick, sending Alita crashing to the ground, Ido launched an explosive device at him. The blast sent Hugo flying across the arena, his body slamming into the wall with a sickening crunch.

Alita struggled to her feet, her eyes locked onto Hugo's motionless form. She felt a mix of emotions: relief, concern, and a deep-seated sadness. What had happened to the man she once loved?

As the crowd erupted into chaos, Alita's allies rushed to her side. Zapan, her rival, eyed Hugo's motionless form with a mixture of curiosity and suspicion.

"Who is he?" Zapan asked, his voice low. Since he could not see the guys face from the distance he was standing but he could tell he has a serious business with alita. He had been secretly coming to watch her racing hoping she will be killed, after the humiliation she had caused him. Any enemy of alita is his friend.

Alita hesitated, unsure how much to reveal. "Someone from my past," she said finally.

Ido's expression turned grim. "We need to get out of here, Alita. Now."

As they turned to leave, Alita caught a glimpse of Hugo's face, his eyes flickering open. For a moment, their gazes locked, and Alita thought she saw a glimmer of recognition.

But it was quickly extinguished, replaced by a cold, calculating gaze. Alita shivered, realizing that the man she once loved was gone, replaced by a deadly stranger.

Zapan stared at the motionless figure of 117 and he knew what he got to do that's if the blast did not kill him. And to his surprise 117 stood up and started running in the direction alita has taken off.

As they made their way through the chaotic crowd, Alita couldn't shake off the feeling that Hugo's eyes had lingered on hers for a fraction of a second longer than necessary. It was as if he had seen something in her, something that had sparked a flicker of recognition.

But it was gone now, replaced by the same cold calculation that had driven him to attack her. Alita's heart ached at the thought of what had happened to the man she once loved.

Ido led them to a secluded alleyway, where a sleek, high-tech vehicle was waiting. "Get in, Alita," he said, his eyes scanning the surrounding area. "We need to get you out of here, now."

Alita nodded, still feeling dazed from the encounter with Hugo. As she climbed into the vehicle, she caught a glimpse of Zapan watching her with an intensity that made her skin prickle.

"What's going on, Ido?" Alita asked, as the vehicle sped away from the arena. "Who is Hugo, really?"

Ido's expression turned grim. "I should have known that this would happen since we did not find his remains. But first, we need to get you to a safe location."

Alita nodded, her mind racing with questions. What had happened to Hugo? Why had he attacked her? And what did Nova have to do with it all?

As the vehicle sped through the city streets, Alita's thoughts were interrupted by a sudden jolt. The vehicle's computer beeped, and Ido's eyes narrowed.

"What is it?" Alita asked, feeling a sense of unease.

"We're being tracked," Ido replied, his voice low. "Some one is trying to jam the vehicle control system."

Just then a bike shot out of a window on there left and nearly landed on top of them.

The vehicle took a sharp turn, and Alita's instinct kicked in. She gripped the armrests tightly, her eyes fixed on the bike behind her.

"What are you doing" Ido yelled at her as she opened the top of the car and climbed out to the top.

"It's me they are after I can't put you in danger again." She said and jumped of the car covering her head as she rolled to the Sid of the street, and she immediately climbed up the balcony of the building on the other side.

Hugo brought his bike to a skirting halt as he saw her jumped of the car. Seeing he could no longer chase her on his bike he too took off on foot after her.

Alita sprinted through the crowded streets, her cybernetic legs pumping furiously as she desperately tried to put distance between herself and Hugo. She had refused Ido's offer to help her escape, fearing that he would get caught in the crossfire.

As she ran, Alita's scanned the surroundings, searching for any sign of Hugo. She could hear the distant hum of his cybernetic enhancements, but he was closing in fast.

Alita darted through a narrow alleyway, using her agility and quick reflexes to avoid the crowded market stalls. She emerged onto a busy street, weaving through the throngs of people as she searched for a safe haven.

But Hugo was relentless, his pursuit driven by a singular focus. Alita could sense his determination, his cybernetic systems honed to perfection as he gained on her.

Suddenly, Alita spotted a small, rundown bar tucked away in a seedy part of town. Without hesitation, she ducked inside, hoping to lose Hugo in the crowded, smoke-filled room.

But as she pushed her way through the rowdy patrons, Alita couldn't shake the feeling that she was being herded into a trap. And when she saw the familiar face waiting for her in the shadows, her heart sank.
