Chapter 82: A Friend
"Valerian?"
I jumped slightly at the sudden whisper in my ear, startled out of my chaotic thoughts.
Turning around, I found Aisha standing beside me with a curious expression etched on her face.
"What are you thinking so hard about?" she asked softly, her violet eyes searching mine.
I sighed internally, debating how much to reveal.
"Nothing...just had a call with an old friend," I said calmly, trying to downplay the situation.
But even as I spoke, my mind remained a whirlwind of unanswered questions and theories. Victor's involvement in something supernatural seemed increasingly likely - but without more information, it was all just speculation.
I shook my head slightly, pushing the thoughts aside for now. Overthinking wouldn't solve anything - and I knew that I would only find answers when I met Victor face to face.
"Your? Friend? I guess it should be hard to talk to him now that you two live in entirely different worlds," She muttered with a sad expression on her face. "I hope you don't feel too down from this since you can still meet each other, but you should keep your supernatural identity hidden from normal people."
It seems Aisha thought I was sad because of how separate I had gotten from my previous Human life.
Thankfully, it solves the trouble for me to explain anything to her.
"Yes, Different worlds, but I have some doubts..." I whispered to myself, making Aisha glance at me curiously.
"What doubts?" she asked gently, tilting her head slightly. "Is something bothering you about your friend?" Her concern was heartfelt, and I felt a pang of guilt for not being entirely forthcoming with her.
But revealing the truth about Victor's potential involvement in the supernatural world would only serve to complicate matters further.
"It's honestly Annoying," I mumbled under my breath, making Aisha raise her eye bro in confusion.
"What did you say?" she asked in confusion. I just merely laughed and ignored her. "Anyways, I need some private time, so leave me alone for now and don't enter my room without permission next time".
Aisha was about to protest, but grumbled and decided to leave when she saw my tired look.
"Tch! Fine, it's not like I wanted to enter anyway, I was just curious what you were up to". She clicked her tongue and slammed the door shut.
...............
...
"Sigh... I don't know how to treat her. Fuck! Why does my life need to be so complicated?" I sighed in exhaustion and fell on the huge bed in the middle of my new room.
"I should take a nap for now for a little bit..." I muttered, tired of the shits that keep happening to me nonstop. And soon drifted off to sleep.
Hopefully, I find peace in my dreams...
..
.....
"Who were you talking with, Vic?"
Victor suddenly jumped up from his seat, nearly spilling the tea he had been sipping on a while ago.
"Oh..It's you, Maria, you nearly scared me shitlesss," Victor huffed and sighed in relief upon seeing her face. "I thought it was that demon Grandpa of yours again".
Mariabell pouted in response and said with an angry look, "Don't call my Grandpa a demon, he's just caring for you, and why did my voice sound like my grandpa to you? Hmph".
Victor wryly smiled and opted not to answer. 'I hear his voice everywhere, what should I say that demon completely traumatised me'.
Honestly, Victor thought learning magic would be fun and a completely different experience from his previous fantasies.
But after being tutored by that demon for a month, he can barely feel any fun.
'Fuck my previous self for thinking magic would be fun.' He rubbed his forehead from the pain of remembering the number of books he needed to read to understand the basics of basics in magecraft.
'Yeah, and the time I got beaten up so hard due to calling magecraft magic.' Remembering the experience, he shivered in fear with every hair on his body standing like he had been shocked by a high voltage current.
"Anyways, tell me who you were talking with," Mariabell asked again, her face more curious than anything.
After all, this was the first time he ever talked with someone on the phone.
'Is he cheating? Hmm, Grandpa told me cheating men deserve death, but I don't want to see Vic die. Wild theories emerged in her tiny mind as she thought with a grim look.
Fortunately, Victor decided to break her fantasies with a long, tired sigh. "Don't think too hard, that was just a friend of mine, the only friend who remembers me".
Victor sighed as he looked back at his smartphone with a nostalgic expression.
"You mean that guy you specifically asked not to mess with it? It's strange how he never picked up your call for a month, hmmm." Mariabell had a thoughtful look as she thought about the time her future Husband Begged her Grandpa to spare him from getting his memory erased.
'Honestly, I never thought someone would care so much about their friend,' Mariabell thought in curiosity, as she never had anyone she could call a friend. 'Well, aside from my cousin, I had no contact with anyone outside this mansion'
"Anyways, I came to call you. Grandpa wants you to meet with someone important". Mariabell explained with a serious face that looked too pinchable.
Victor had the urge to pinch her cheeks, but stopped himself and got up from his seat. "Fine, but I hope That Old man doesn't force another 100 books on me."
"ahh, don't forget to bring your wand with you, or he'll bet you up again," Mariabell reminded with a voice of concern, but Victor merely gave a smile and showed her his wand inside his shirt.
"Don't worry, I don't want to get ptsd again either". He said and left the dining hall.
..........
.....
"I can't believe he threw me out of his room...just to take a nap?"
Aisha mumbled a look of annoyance crossing her face as she looked at the calmly sleeping figure of her Husband.
But looking at his face for a longer period, she shivered as it reminded her that he was extremely handsome.
'I always try to avoid eye contact since looking in his eyes always makes me think unnecessary things,' she thought, but thinking properly now, she realised something she had ignored for a while.
Valerian is her Husband now.
'Husband...Huh, I am really married now' she thought to herself with a blush.
"NO! I can't think of filthy things besides Valerian still needs to be baptised before we can do anything....A married couple, like" She paused immediately, her mind got flooded with countless images, making the light of her eyes behind the blindfold dim a little.
"Ahhh, I need to cool down my head....Where is the Bathroom? Aisha, not being able to take the corrupting thoughts in her head, decided to take a shower to cool her head.
"But where is it?" She murmured as she totally does not have a clue where.
Then her eyes landed on the door on the corner of Valerian's room.
There, it said Private Bathroom.
Aisha blushed, thinking of what to do, until she remembered that Valerian was still fast asleep. "Hmm, it won't take long, so..." So she decided to use his bathroom instead.
Oh, how much she will regret this decision later.
.......
...
"Are you prepared, my daughter?" a Man with graying hair said in a deep voice as he witnessed his daughter drawing an extremely big magic circle with her blood.
The sight was horrifying, with various bones and ancient, grim-looking artifacts.
These objects were placed at every corner of the magic circle.
At the centre of the entire ritual was a strange purple gem that oddly looked like an Eye.
"I am prepared, Father." Finally, the woman drawing the magic circle stood and said with an emotionless voice.
The father rejoiced as a dark glint passed through his eyes as he uttered, "Great, now begin and remember to call out with the darkest desire in your heart".
"Understood," she nodded and chanted with her lifeless eyes staring at the magic circle, her hands joined together in a praying posture, and thenknelt, her figure bloody and agonising from all the blood.
"Oh Mephistopheles, Dark Noble of Demonic spirits, I am the echo of Faust! Calls upon you.
Price be my soul be taken —a sacrifice already lost.
Take every lineage, every gift, every breath I may claim,
Erase my future, and forget my name.
Just grant me this: that his eyes turn to me, once more,
And tear him from this cruel and rotting shore!
Set him free, take my chains, and make me your eternal slave.
I give you everything—everything I possess!
Hear my plea!"
Then suddenly, all the lamps in the room extinguished, replaced with a dark purple flame, and a voice echoed from them.
Tell Thy name, Young Magus...
The woman didn't hesitate and said with a clear Voice.
ISABELLA
Hearing her response, the voice quieted down for a moment to look at her properly before echoing.
Contract shall be fulfilled, and your body shall be mine upon completion. Do you accept, young magus?
Isabella's eyes glowed purple as she muttered.
As long as he acknowledges me, I will give you my everything.
I accept the contract.
