Book 2, Prologue
"Elisa, I heard something that might interest you."
"Hmm, do tell."
"A friend from the Adventurers' Guild, Ren, was telling me about this new recruit they got. Kid has spunk. Got a solo license and then promoted to E-rank in a snap."
"I fail to see how that is in any way relevant to me."
"Let me explain, please. So, this kid, a great up and coming adventurer, right? But what Ren tells me is, the prodigy has a problem. He can't use mana."

"And?"
"At all."
"Oh?"
"Not only that. He can't even sense it. Or so he says."
"What about tempering?"
"The term thrown around was 'instinctual'."
"Now that is interesting."
"See. I know you so well."
"What did your friend request exactly?"
"Nothing gets past you, huh? ...Fine. I owe him a favor. He hopes you can help the kid, doesn't want him to get stuck, or something worse. Added bonus, you get to write another fancy paper that everyone will gush about."
"I'll ignore that last part. Does this 'kid' have a name?"
"Lucius. So, what should I tell 'em?"
"I will not be opposed to a meeting, but I cannot promise any results."
