Agnisotra: Origin Tails

Mistflower Chapter: I am Ayaru

The bitch was still chasing me. I had no idea where I was supposed to go to. I couldn’t go back to Paula and Paul because I would be luring a crazy bitch to our home. Should I lure her into Witchaven? I was tempted but Remi and Bea are still there.

“Get hit by [Biian] and fall!” The goddess used a skill named after herself.

“You named a skill after yourself? How narcissistic can you be?!” I yelled back as golden light particles started to gather and the sky turned gold. This might be bad.

Rays of light burst down and the light particles shot golden light beams in every direction.

I created as many [Ice mirrors] as I could and cast [Slow] on Biian. It failed. I tried 3 more times and it stuck the last attempt.

It was as if the world had turned into slow motion. All the light beams flew out at walking speed. I poured more mana into my staff and fled.

“Come here you bitch!” The narcissist was still slowed. “Ugh, fine, have it this way then!”

A bright light appeared behind me. I wanted to see what was happening but it would probably blind me. The light didn’t stop. I decided to create an [Ice Mirror] and look behind me and I discovered that the bitch had become fatter. Well, that’s not exactly true, she had immensely grown in size. Her hair was also gold.

She swiped her arm at me and countless [Lasers] flew at me. I made more [Ice Mirrors] and flew upwards. I had noticed that some of Biian’s attacks had hit the ground and might have wiped out a village or two. The sky was quite clear. If I could just get to the mass of clouds in the distance, I could attempt to scare her away.

I scattered more [Azure Flowers] and made the petals turn into small mirrors to keep myself safe. I also used [Fog].

“Come here and fight!” Biian’s face got red like a tomato.

Is this bitch stupid? I am not going to fight fairly against an enormous goddess made out of light! Screw that! I want to go home! I swatted some attacks away with my hat. I also had taken some hits and my hat had poured another burst of mana into me to keep me alive. In my current state, I can ‘die’ 5 more times.

I need a lot of time and rest to replenish my mana. I started throwing [Spatial Spears] at her.

Nothing seemed to hurt her. Fighting gods is so unfair!

Why did I get myself into this mess? It was hard to find out where this all began. It probably began right before I submitted my life’s work. Maybe I should start there. But first! I need to introduce myself!

I am Ayaru Mistflower, a witch researching magic circles and mana runes at the Misha Academy in Witchaven, the second-largest city of the witches. The other races call us ‘Witches’ but we call ourselves Misha. My magic affinities are water, fire, wind, charm, and spatiotemporal magic.

I love magic, adventure, cake, and Mistflowers. I love the fragrance of Mistflowers and their calming properties. I love them so much that I created a Mistflower extract which I could use as a basis for perfume and lotion. I was blessed with beautiful blue hair which matches well with the color of Mistflowers. My looks is something I treasurel because unfortunately, this is all I have. I had one friend but she got kicked out of Witchaven. This means that I have no friends here. I was holed up inside my research lab because there was no point in going home. My life is my research. Misha put a high importance on achievements by research or by demonstrating complicated magic that had been deemed to be impossible. I am perfectly capable of doing the latter but I am more focused on the former.

I put the book down that I had been studying that I have been reading for the last 3 weeks. Should go home? It has been months since I had entered my house. I tidied my desk and left my research lab.

The entrance of my lab sits in a shallow pool of water. There is a reason for this. We lock our houses and research labs with magic skills or a sequence of magic skills that are difficult or even impossible to reproduce. I had fixed my lock 5 months ago because that is when I had officially finished my research. My lock opens from series of water magic spells, hence the shallow pool of water. Water magic increases in effectiveness when there is water around.

This particular corridor looks strange because just like my research lab has a shallow pool of water, other lab entrances have strange conditions or structures near them to aid the owner of the lab in unlocking their doors. Research is very important to us as is protecting it. All I have to do is to finalize my research paper and submit it to the council. I wonder what they will think of it.

I used [Tsunami] and my custom skills, [Azure Shark], [Azure Spear], and [Azure Mist] to lock my lab. I was proud of my new lock! Other labs could be broken in after some effort but mine is different! Nobody has studied magic circles and runes like I have. Just as humans use keys to lock their doors, we Misha use a sequence of magical spells to lock our doors and especially labs. Our houses are mostly locked by one skill that is unusual or unique to us while our labs mostly have a sequence of skills. Since my skills are highly customized, nobody can enter my lab or house!

I walked through the corridors of the Misha Academy. I had graduated from here a long time ago. I was just a researcher now. Most students I saw here were older than me though. They call me a prodigy but I don’t feel like I am.

“It’s that Misha again!”

“Hey, don’t you think she might be a succubus instead?”

“I’m so jealous!”

They were all admiring my beauty but not in the way that I had hoped. I have certain features that are more common under the races that have charm or seduction as a trait. My mother is a Misha but I don’t know who or what my father was. I looked at my bountiful chest. I couldn’t see my toes but I don’t need to see them. I pulled down my hat a bit and hastily walked past the students. I had lost all track of time. I thought it was late in the evening but a new day had arrived and it was already noon.

The azure-colored house on top of a hill was mine. It wasn't too far from the academy. I unlocked my door with an [Azure Spear] and dropped down on my couch. I haven’t been here for almost 2 months. or 3 months? I can't remember. I twirled my fingers and azure-colored petals floated through my house and started cleaning and clearing out the dust. I looked at an image of my graduation and another one of me and my only friend Paula. I sighed. What am I doing with my life? I am just researching day in and day out. I don’t have time for my other hobby, adventuring.

I picked up a book that had been lying on the couch since I had last been home. It was fan fiction about the Calamity Trio, 3 beautiful women who loved adventure. They had even fought off deities. They consist of Edea Hourai, Nadila Sheru, and Felicia Torai. An all-female team. They are especially popular with the non-humans. There was nothing they couldn’t do! Their last adventure involved a large battle in the country of Bia, where Nadila had wiped out the capital city. As far as I know, Bia was in the wrong but I might just be a biased fan. Unfortunately, nobody has seen them for a while. And that’s where the fanfiction had started. I had read this book almost a dozen times. I wonder, if I get strong enough, will they give me a chance to travel with them? They are all from races that are ‘Immortal’. While Misha are counted as mortals, we’re technically immortal. We can’t die from old age but we stay dead after we get killed, these 3 don’t.

Their races are fascinating. I leaned back and thought about my life so far. I would finish this research paper and submit it. Hopefully, it will get approved and then I will have enough accolades to leave and do whatever I want. I strengthened my resolve. I was almost there! I had worked hard to get here. I don’t care what my peers think of me as long as I bring results! I ate some cake to cheer myself up and energize myself. I will revise all my work tomorrow.

I went and took a long relaxing bath with Mistflower oil. Resting is not something I take seriously, so this was extremely relaxing. I had to make sure I didn’t fall asleep. I went to my study room and took a book off my shelf. Most of these books here were written by me. My field of research is strangely uncommon. There have been 2 books vaguely alluding to aspects I could utilize. Most of the theories turned out to be incorrect, so It was almost as if I had started from scratch. I flipped through the pages but it had seemed that my fatigue was taking over my body and made it impossible to focus. I went into my bedroom which was themed after Mistflowers.

Tomorrow would be a long day. I would revise my work but I will also have to spar. My rival Beatrice Manarune has returned and has spread baseless rumors again. I hate that bitch. She pisses me off to no end and it is time to put that redhead down. Not because my theme is blue and hers is red means that she needs to be such a bitch. What is worse is that she is as dumb as a brick. I have no idea how she graduated or how her papers have been approved but a teenage human can outsmart her. Unfortunately, that doesn’t matter because her power is real. She might be the strongest Misha in Witchaven at the moment. I have a favorable matchup against her and I can show off my self-made skills! That bitch is going to hate this hahaha!

I covered myself in blue fluffy blankets. I just love cuddling fluffy things! I fell asleep after finding a way to humiliate Beatrice and finding a way to dispel those rumors.
