What kind of tier would that be?
Wu Chi's mind raced, desperate to know the answer. He figured it was more likely that the information was classified, not that no one had ever achieved it. This was a grand era, after all; anything was possible. Amidst the infinite cosmos, countless realms, and myriad races all vying for supremacy, how could there not be a tier beyond Legendary? There had to be a reason the information was under wraps.
The pessimistic take: achieving that tier involves some kind of Great Terror or unspeakable crisis, so the knowledge is locked away for safety. The optimistic take: it's a "threshold" of power. You only gain access to the secrets once you've reached a certain level or state. Learning about it too early would be detrimental.
Of course, this was all just Wu Chi's wild speculation. He'd ◈ Nоvеlіgһт ◈ (Continue reading) read enough novels in his past life to be a well-versed armchair theorist on the subject. Ask him to actually do it? Useless. Ask him to be a keyboard warrior about it? He was a goddamn expert.
"Right. Keep an eye out for any info, but for the love of god, don't go blabbing about it." Wu Chi decided on a plan.
Beside him, Lin Daiyu had recovered from her daze. She felt the power surging through her—another quantum leap in strength. For a moment, she was speechless. But… all of this came from him.
To have a master like him… was this what it felt like to be lucky? A gentle smile bloomed on her face as she watched Wu Chi, who was still lost in thought.
Yes. This was… nice.
"HOLY SHIT!? HER STATS BROKE A THOUSAND!?" Wu Chi suddenly blurted out, his face twitching. He ran the numbers again. The change was absolutely massive.
At Level 1, her base attributes had been 20, with a growth of 5. Now, after the upgrade, it was the equivalent of having 60 base attributes and a growth of 10 right from the start!
And that was just the raw stats! The quality upgrade also boosted her talent and bloodline!
"If another one of those Three-Headed Buddha freaks showed up now, wouldn't it be like a father beating his son? A complete slaughter??" Wu Chi didn't know whether to laugh or cry. Laugh, because he now had a certified top-tier powerhouse in his territory, making the "Newbie Trial" a whole lot less stressful. Cry, because the thought of ever being able to beat her in a fight was now a pipe dream. That 1000 Constitution included stamina, after all…
After this trial, I've got to unlock my lord abilities ASAP. I want to be able to level mountains with a single punch too! The envy was real. But then he remembered he could just lie back and enjoy the benefits of their power, and his mood brightened considerably.
Lin Daiyu watched the kaleidoscope of emotions on his face—the conflict between joy and despair was surprisingly amusing. She'd never met anyone quite like him. Compared to the naive or the disingenuous, Wu Chi's transparent nature was refreshingly reassuring. She decided not to disturb him, just silently enjoying the moment of peace.
