After the Villain Stopped Simping for the Heroine, the Heroine Regretted It!

Chapter 8

Chapter 8: The Aggressive Su Family:

But now?

Everyone in the Holy Land knew that Qin Yuan had publicly severed ties with Su Mengyao.

Given the situation, the elder responsible for the chariots had no reason to favor Su Mengyao, an inner disciple.

Naturally, he upheld the rules without partiality.

“Are you out of your mind? Do you really think an inner disciple like you has any right to ride in the Holy Son’s chariot?” The elder’s voice was sharp. “Are you trying to make me break the rules?”

“I’m done arguing with you. There’s a monster shop over there. If you’re so eager, go spend some spirit stones and ride a beast back.” He said dismissively, lying back in his chair and closing his eyes, ignoring the fuming Su Mengyao.

“You…!” Su Mengyao was extremely angry.

When had she ever suffered such humiliation?

The members from the Su family were equally upset, their expressions sour as if they had swallowed something bitter.

No one expected that the chariot they could once board without question was now off-limits.

Seeing this, Lin Yun saw an opportunity to impress.

He quickly stepped forward, attempting to negotiate with the elder, but his efforts were futile.

The elder didn’t even open his eyes, leaving Lin Yun embarrassed and humiliated.

The surrounding disciples burst into laughter at the sight.

“Who is this fool? Trying to buddy up with Elder Wang like he’s someone important.” One disciple scoffed.

“Yeah, does he think he’s from a noble family?”

“I know him—he’s Lin Yun. Rumor has it he’s Su Mengyao’s lapdog.”

“A lapdog, huh? No wonder he’s in such a rush to show off.”

“Wait, Su Mengyao? Isn’t she the one who used to be loved by the Holy Son?”

“Yeah, that’s her. And look at her now, how pathetic.”

Hearing these insults, Su Mengyao’s already fragile mood crumbled further. She was on the verge of breaking down again.

“Mengyao, don’t argue with them. They don’t understand the situation. Tomorrow, everything will be clear.” Yu Ying, ever the supportive friend, said, trying to soothe her. “If we can’t take the chariot, we can still ride the monsters. It’s just some spirit stones.”

These words calmed Su Mengyao a bit, and she led Lin Yun and the other Su family disciples toward the monster shop.

“1,000 spirit stones.” The shop owner said casually, raising a single finger.

“What? How…how much?” Su Mengyao’s eyes widened in shock. She couldn’t believe her ears. The Su family disciples were equally stunned. One thousand spirit stones was a significant sum.

“Forget it, just 1,000.” Su Mengyao muttered under her breath. She was already planning to demand more treasures from Qin Yuan once he regretted his actions the next day.

“I meant 1,000 spirit stones per person.” The shop owner clarified. “There are fifteen of you, so that’s 15,000 spirit stones in total.”

“15,000 spirit stones? Are you trying to rob us?” Lin Yun shouted, his anger boiling over. The shop owner’s face darkened, and a terrifying aura emanated from him like a storm.

“Don’t like it? Then get out,” the shop owner snapped. “Back when I was your age, I knew better than to mouth off to someone like me.”

“You…!” Lin Yun fumed, but he knew he couldn’t defeat the shop owner. Frustrated, he turned to Su Mengyao.

“Mengyao, what should we do?”

“There’s no other choice now. Just pay him.” Su Mengyao gritted her teeth and handed over the 15,000 spirit stones, though it pained her to do so.

The shop owner happily pocketed the stones and, with a wave of his hand, summoned a giant bird wreathed in flames, driven by a young man about Su Mengyao’s age.

“We paid so much, and this is what we get?” Lin Yun grumbled, trying to assert himself.

“If you don’t like it, you’re welcome to walk.” The shop owner retorted, his tone curt.

Lin Yun seethed with anger, but the situation left him with no room to argue. The tension was palpable, and the atmosphere grew awkward.

Yu Ying tugged on Lin Yun’s sleeve, urging him to stop talking.

Meanwhile, Su Mengyao’s face grew increasingly grim.

It was clear that the shop owner was making things difficult for them, but she couldn’t understand why.

It felt like everyone was suddenly against her, even those who once treated her with respect.

What had gone wrong?

Naively, Su Mengyao couldn’t fathom that Qin Yuan might be the reason.

Instead, she suspected that Qin Yuan had arranged all this to hurt her.

“Achoo!” Qin Yuan sneezed suddenly in the Holy Son’s Hall.

He didn’t think much of it, though. Instead, he focused on refining the treasures the system had rewarded him with.

Time passed slowly, and before long, the next day arrived.

The Heavenly Vault Holy Land was buzzing with talk of Qin Yuan and Su Mengyao’s broken engagement.

By this time, Qin Yuan had already arrived at the Su family’s residence.

As soon as he stepped into the square, he noticed the Su family members all watching him intently.

Inside the Su family’s main hall, the family head, Su Yuanshan, sat alongside his daughter, Su Mengyao, with Lin Yun and Su Mengyao’s best friend Yu Ying standing beside them.

“Qin Yuan, how dare you show up empty-handed? Didn’t your parents teach you about manners and respect?” Su Zhong, the head butler, stepped forward, his tone dripping with disdain.

It was clear he looked down on Qin Yuan.

“If you’re here to win back my lady’s favor, you’d better show some sincerity! After all, you’re the heir of a great family, aren’t you? Surely you can afford a simple gift.” Su Zhong continued.

“Exactly! Our lady stood by you for so long, and you humiliated her by breaking off the engagement in public. What about her dignity?” another voice chimed in.

“Do you even know what she went through? She was so distraught that she couldn’t eat or sleep yesterday, depressed all day long, and nearly hanged herself. If you’re here to make amends, you better compensate her properly, or I won’t let her leave with you!” Su Meng, the eldest son of the Su family’s great elder, added, his voice full of righteous anger. His words were spoken with such conviction that they almost seemed true.
