After Marrying the Officer

Chapter 522: Befriending the Master

However, all of a sudden, Old Sir Guan's figure shifted.

Old Sir Guan's spoon, flipping up and down "Pap Pap Pap" in quick succession, struck the outstretched arm of Pimples Face forcefully and rapidly three times.

"Ouch, ouch!" Pimples Face, not expecting to be hit, was first startled.

Then, with a face full of maliciousness, Pimples Face swung his arm while spitting continuously and cursed, "You old geezer, how dare you hit me?!"

While cursing, he also raised his fist, ready to move forward and fight.

Seeing this, Old Sir Guan still kept a stern face, his spoon continuously in motion.

"Pap Pap Pap!" Another three strikes landed on Pimples Face.

But this time, Old Sir Guan was not simply striking.

His big spoon, precise and powerful, hit directly on the elbow's nerve cluster of Pimples Face.

"Ahh..." With a scream, Pimples Face leapt up in an instant.

Pressing his arm, Pimples Face hopped on the spot, writhing in so much pain that he lost all ability to fight back.

Seeing Pimples Face beaten so miserably, Triangular Eyes, who wanted to come up and help, hesitated and ultimately backed off at once.

"You, you, you old coot, we'll let it go today!" Triangular Eyes shouted to Pimples Face, "Let's get out of here!"

After speaking, he didn't wait to see Pimples Face's reaction, but turned and ran off first.

Seeing the two thugs running away, Xia Chuyi couldn't help but purse her lips and secretly grinned, thinking to herself: She had almost forgotten that her Master, in order to practice his cooking skills, had exceptionally strong arms and was also remarkably accurate.

Collecting her thoughts, Xia Chuyi immediately sincerely said to her Master, "Thank you, 'Master'!"

The term used by Xia Chuyi had a double meaning; "Master" was equivalent to "Father" but, of course, outsiders wouldn't understand.

Mr. Guan glanced at her and gave a noncommittal "hmph," then turned back to the noodle shop.

Seeing this, Xia Chuyi quickly followed.

"'Master,' thank you so much for today," Xia Chuyi said, not caring whether her Master was listening.

Mr. Guan still wore an indifferent look.

Xia Chuyi didn't take it to heart; after all, her Master had always been indifferent and ill-tempered.

The Master once told her that he was like this because, years ago, he had been betrayed and thus did not easily trust people.

"If it weren't for you, 'Master,' I really don't know what would have happened," Xia Chuyi said with a still palpable sense of shock.

At this point, Mr. Guan finally glanced at her and said, "Nowadays, with the strict crackdown, all you need to do is shout aloud that someone's behaving like a hooligan, and those two scoundrels wouldn't dare do a thing."

That meant he was blaming her for being too timid before.

Indeed, many times ruffians dared to harass because they believed women were too mindful of their reputation or too timid and scared to make a scene, so they took liberties.

Xia Chuyi's gaze flickered slightly.

She thought so, her Master really was a man with a tough exterior but a soft heart.

Xia Chuyi straightened her expression, and seriously said to Mr. Guan, "'Master,' you're right, I'll definitely remember that for next time."

"Face bad deeds and villains with courage and say no!"

Seeing her so obedient and serious in her reply, Mr. Guan didn't say anything more.

Mr. Guan gave another indifferent "hmph," then took the now-dirty spoon, threw it into the basin, and after washing and drying it, set it aside.

Turning back and seeing her still there, Mr. Guan frowned.

"You girl, anything else to report?"
