c7 - The Sensitive Period
The hotel’s security department had two locations.
According to the information, the one where Ma Haoyu was stationed was on the 10th floor.
When Shen Han pushed open the door to the duty room, a group of security guards were huddled together playing cards.
Amidst the swirling smoke, a fair-skinned small man was squeezed in the center of burly men, looking particularly frail.
So much so that Shen Han recognized him as the person she was looking for at first glance.
Seeing a stranger arrive, the security guards immediately stopped their actions.
Turning to look, they were all startled by the grim shadow standing at the door.
Ma Haoyu feigned a shocked expression with his mouth agape, but his hand quickly swapped a card in the deck.
“Hey, who are you?” A bear-like alpha stood up first, barking out a question.
The hotel they served had received many combat units.
Thus, they weren’t intimidated just by seeing someone in military uniform.
Until they noticed the golden badge on the collar.
That was the unique insignia of the Free Federation’s empress.
Though the group of security guards appeared slovenly and undisciplined, they remembered information related to their lives and futures very clearly.
“Com-Commander!”
Amidst the group’s salutes, Shen Han entered the room.
She casually walked to Ma Haoyu’s side, glanced at the cards in his hand, and asked: “What game are you playing?”
“Report, Commander! Fighting the landlord!” someone answered.
Shen Han nodded and asked again: “Whose turn is it now?”
Everyone stared at Ma Haoyu.
The answer was self-evident.
Shen Han smiled, took the cards from Ma Haoyu’s hand, slightly adjusted their position, then threw them in the center of the table.
“Three with one, I’m out.”
The security guards stared blankly at the card table, momentarily unable to react.
Ma Haoyu, however, seemed excited, speaking with borrowed authority: “Thank you, Commander. Quick, pay up, pay up!”
The others didn’t dare say much. After settling accounts and ending the game, they returned to their positions.
At this point, Shen Han spoke in a voice only she and Ma Haoyu could hear: “Wolf, come out with me for a moment.”
Ma Haoyu’s hand, which was cleaning up the card table, visibly froze, but then he quickly pulled out cigarettes from his pocket, grinning: “Commander has good eyes. I just won this pack of ‘Corridor’ and haven’t even warmed it up yet.”
Shen Han knew he was playing dumb with her.
She chuckled softly: “Do you want me to announce your ID number and identity in front of everyone?”
Hearing this, Ma Haoyu immediately stopped smiling.
He looked around pitifully and led Shen Han out: “Commander, about that money I owe you, could you give me a bit more time?”
Their figures disappeared at the duty room door.
The door slammed shut, separating the inside and outside into two different spaces.
The group of security guards looked at the closed solid wood door and began to gloat.
“So the little guy owes money, I was wondering why that commander suddenly came here!”
“Serves him right! I’ve long suspected he wasn’t honest.”
“Oh right! I remembered something. This morning I heard from the logistics department that the empress shared a room with an alpha last night, it must be the one we just saw!”
“…”
In the empty corridor, Ma Haoyu was cowering by the window.
He made a last attempt at resistance with a bitter face: “Commander, I really don’t know what you’re talking about. Are you sure you haven’t mistaken me for someone else?”
Shen Han figured continuing like this wouldn’t lead to any meaningful conversation.
Just as she was about to use the New Li Country president’s name to cut to the chase.
Unexpectedly, the small alpha in front of her had already nimbly slipped out the window, climbing along the wall like a monkey, heading straight up to the upper floors.
Shen Han leaned half her body out of the window, a flash of surprise crossing her clear black and white eyes.
…
25th floor conference room of the hotel.
Gu Junwan was engaged in a mutual probe with several New Li Country politicians at a round table conference.
At the moment, two New Li Country members were arguing heatedly, one playing good cop and the other bad cop.
The empress, seated in the place of honor, seemed slightly distracted.
She was wondering if things were going smoothly on Shen Han’s end.
‘There shouldn’t be too many obstacles, right? And probably no danger, after all, she’s so skilled.’
‘Where did she receive her training before? That marksmanship can’t be achieved in just three or five years.’
‘She probably hasn’t marked anyone, right? She doesn’t seem to know how to…’
“Your Majesty, we’ve been debating this issue for a while now. What are your thoughts on this?”
A deep male voice suddenly rang out, interrupting Gu Junwan’s increasingly distant thoughts.
The empress picked up the tea cup on the table and took a leisurely sip.
Under the covertly watchful gazes of everyone present, she spoke calmly: “A protracted war is not advisable. In the current situation, what I need is an overwhelming victory.”
…
Ma Haoyu was hiding among the air conditioning units on the hotel’s outer wall.
He had circled almost half the hotel before climbing in through a hidden small window.
Unexpectedly, before his feet could touch solid ground, he was pushed against the wall by an arm.
Shen Han’s voice, filled with icy killing intent, came softly.
“If you really manage to escape today, you’ll be disobeying military orders. As your new commanding officer, I have the right to execute you on the spot. Do you understand, Agent JLY3310?”
Upon hearing his ID number, Ma Haoyu immediately gave up struggling.
He looked at the person in front of him with bright eyes and asked quietly: “Does this mean I’m really being activated?”
Shen Han raised her hand and flicked his forehead: “First, confirm the code phrase!”
After a series of twists and turns, Ma Haoyu’s attitude had undergone a complete transformation.
He huddled close to his new superior, as excited as a happy puppy.
“Boss! To be honest, I thought I’d be working security here for ten or eight years!”
“Including me, there are six comrades near this hotel. I’ll contact them right away, ready for action at any time!”
The situation with the special ops team was progressing very smoothly.
However, things remained tense on Gu Junwan’s side, with the feeling that it wouldn’t be long before New Li showed their true colors.
The empress was like a bargaining chip for the politicians.
Only by holding her in their hands could they maximize her value.
Of course, this was the intention of the aggressive pro-war faction. The opposing voices from another faction adhering to loyalty and trust were not small either.
It was precisely because of this that Gu Junwan had gained a brief window for maneuvering.
Two more days passed.
Gu Junwan went to the 25th floor conference room as usual.
This was the last meeting where both sides would openly discuss the situation.
Both knew they wouldn’t reach any conclusion, but some things are like this – even knowing agreement is impossible, they still need to be put on the table.
Today, Shen Han accompanied Gu Junwan into the conference room.
However, given her position, she couldn’t sit at the table for discussions and had to stand with other accompanying personnel in the back corner.
She leaned lightly against the wall, her gaze constantly fixed on Gu Junwan.
Her clear black and white eyes seemed to cast an invisible spotlight on the other.
No matter how many times she looked, she always found new amazement in Gu Junwan.
The empress sitting at the negotiation table possessed a confidence and dignity she had never witnessed before.
It felt as though even thousands of troops at the city gates couldn’t cause her the slightest nervousness or panic.
The rich fragrance of cold plum passed through the many people, directly enveloping Shen Han’s nose.
The scent unique to Gu Junwan seeped into her skin beneath the military uniform, accelerating her blood flow.
As Shen Han stood there, she suddenly began to feel dizzy.
Her chest felt tight, like a pool filled with energy, waves surging against the banks, seeking release.
She closed her eyes slightly, shifting her body weight to lean against the wall behind her.
Trying her best not to let those around her notice anything amiss.
Gu Junwan was about to rebut a point made by one of the attendees.
But she suddenly noticed Shen Han’s unusual state.
Although on the surface, the other seemed to just be leaning against the wall with closed eyes listening.
The chaotic snow cedar scent, however, betrayed her true condition.
The empress raised her hand to interrupt the person speaking incessantly, stood up, and walked straight towards the conference room exit.
“There’s no need to continue today. Everyone, please sort out your emotions before dealing with state affairs!”
As her words fell, she had just reached Shen Han’s side.
“Come back with me.”
Shen Han was struggling against her body’s sudden discomfort.
Suddenly, she heard Gu Junwan’s voice and smelled the intoxicating cold plum fragrance.
Under her uniform, the veins on her arms slightly bulged, like writhing blue demons.
She followed steadily behind the omega empress, her back already covered in a thin layer of sweat.
The two were like lone walkers angrily leaving the negotiation table.
Under the openly mocking and secretly ridiculing gazes of everyone, they returned to the top floor room of the hotel.
The moment the door closed, Shen Han immediately leaned heavily against the side wall with a ‘thud’.
The voice-activated light in the entryway shone down, illuminating her current weakness.
“I might have caught a cold, it’s nothing serious.”
Hearing the other’s slightly hoarse voice, Gu Junwan immediately became anxious.
She supported the foolish alpha beside her and quickly walked to the living room: “This isn’t a cold, it’s your sensitive period coming.”
“Sensitive period?” Shen Han sat on the sofa, trying hard to recall this knowledge point that was very unfamiliar to her.
Gu Junwan didn’t dare delay, instructing her to wait there while she turned towards the medicine cabinet.
The cabinet was fully stocked with suppressants and syringes.
As long as she gave Shen Han an injection in time, everything would return to normal.
Gu Junwan’s movements were swift.
She stood gracefully in front of the medicine cabinet, pushing the drug in the syringe, slowly expelling the air inside.
At this moment, a pair of arms suddenly embraced her from behind.
A burning body pressed against her back, pushing her against the medicine cabinet countertop.
The overwhelming snow cedar scent enveloped her instantly like swirling mist.
The alpha in her sensitive period buried her head in Gu Junwan’s hair, murmuring: “Junwan, I feel so unwell.”
That soft whisper of ‘Junwan’, like the sound of hell’s demons, carried a bewitching allure, exploding directly in the depths of Gu Junwan’s mind!
The omega empress’s body trembled uncontrollably, the gentle yet domineering snow cedar behind her easily igniting her most primal passion.
Making her instinctively want to rely on it, to immerse herself in it.
