Chapter 800: Jiang Lingxi, the New Student at Jing University
Finally got to the first unread message, then skimmed through the long string of messages.
Turns out it's not her new classmates who are all lively and love excitement, it's actually her fault!
[Hello classmates, I'm Jiang Lingxi.]
The person being discussed suddenly appeared in the chatroom, and the speed of everyone's scrolling paused for a moment.
But soon, a new round of rapid scrolling began.
Even more intense than before.
Jiang Lingxi replied with: [See you tomorrow!]
In an instant, it was buried under more messages.
But afterward, everyone also uniformly replied with [See you tomorrow.]
Such uniformity was impressive.
Zhang Yaoheng, still lurking in the chatroom: Perhaps he should let Jiang Lingxi be the class leader of this history department class one.
This thought flashed through his mind.
Today was just the first day of school, with freshmen registrations, dorm allocations, getting familiar with the campus... The day passed in a chaotic blur.
It wasn't until the second day when everyone settled that it was time to meet with the class advisor and classmates.
After sending out 'See you tomorrow,' Jiang Lingxi decisively closed the chatroom, setting it so she'd only receive notifications if directly mentioned, avoiding disturbance from casual chats and spam.
Without the constant dinging of notifications, her ears finally found some peace.
Though her phone had plenty of group chats—family, work, team, and now a class group—she was never the active one in any of them.
She mainly kept them for easier contact.
Sitting in a small pavilion by the lake for quite a while, Jiang Lingxi stuffed her phone into her pocket, stood up, "The commute application is submitted, I should get a response today."
Shen Yunqing, who had turned his gaze from the lake when she pocketed her phone, stood up and extended his hand.
Jiang Lingxi naturally took his hand, and hand in hand, they left the pavilion, continuing forward.
Faintly, they could hear people behind them whispering.
"Is that couple up ahead together entering Jing University?"
"Or maybe they're here dropping off a boyfriend or girlfriend for registration."
"You can tell just from the back that they're a handsome guy and beautiful girl, too bad we can't see their faces!"
Though Jing University isn't as spacious as Hua University, any university tends to be pretty large.
After walking around, it was nearly noon.
They chose the nearest cafeteria, following the crowd like other students to have lunch.
The first floor was bustling and noisy, so Jiang Lingxi decisively decided to head to the third floor.
Half of the third floor was for staff, and the other half offered slightly more expensive stir-fry dishes—seeing fewer people the higher they went indicated fewer diners on the third floor.
As expected, compared to the packed first and second floors where finding a seat required squeezing in, the third floor was only half full.
No need to grab seats; they headed straight to the counter to order.
If there's any place with the most diverse food, university cafeterias definitely rank among the top.
Not only do they include specialties from all over Hua State, but famous international dishes aren't missing either.
The array of menus hanging at the window was truly dazzling, and the prices were much cheaper compared to outside.
Jiang Lingxi quickly ordered some food she hadn't even tried before.
Shen Yunqing glanced at the trays piling up in their hands, along with some being freshly cooked, and wisely chose: he'd just be responsible for carrying.
Sure enough, when all the various dishes were brought to the table, their four-person table was already crowded with plates and bowls.
Luckily, the cafeteria's meals were generally single servings, even the freshly made stir-fries, or else he wouldn't be sure if they could finish them.
Jiang Lingxi returned with two pairs of chopsticks and two spoons from the disinfection cabinet, sat down, glanced around, and took off her mask, "Let's eat!"
However, as time passed, the previously quiet third floor gradually filled with people.
To be safe, Jiang Lingxi had chosen a seat where there weren't many people around.
She wasn't afraid of being recognized, just worried about being disturbed while eating.
But as more people came, even though they were in a rather secluded corner, some came to dine nearby.
Jiang Lingxi, about to taste some century egg and meatball soup, noticed glances occasionally coming from the neighboring table.
Thankfully, the person glancing didn't approach clumsily, but after their companion sat down, they quietly said, "I think the girl with short hair at the next table looks a lot like Jiang Lingxi!"
"Jiang Lingxi? You're probably mistaken, right?"
Doubtful, but the companion also cast a curious glance.
Jiang Lingxi silently bit into the century egg on the spoon.
It didn't matter if they recognized her, as long as they didn't disturb her meal.
"Indeed looks like her."
"But with short hair, and those clothes, probably just looks like Jiang Lingxi."
Shen Yunqing, back to the two girls, calmly placed the peeled shrimp on the plate in front of Jiang Lingxi.
He heard behind him, "And she has a boyfriend, and both their clothes and hats are couple styles, so it's likely not her. It's surprising our school has a freshman looking so much like Jiang Lingxi!"
Listening to the murmuring pair beside them: "..."
Continued eating calmly.
Until almost all the food on the table was finished, someone nearby couldn't help but exclaim softly: "Check out the campus forum!"
"Jiang Lingxi has come to Jing University for registration, when? How come there wasn't any uproar?"
"History department, she actually applied for the history department, I was almost going to apply for history too!"
The two girls at the next table looked up at each other, quickly pulled out their phones to log onto the forum, quickly skimmed a few pinned posts, then looked over to the next table.
Jiang Lingxi had just finished her last bite of dessert, then put on her mask, and picked up the cleared trays, heading towards the dish collection area.
This made the pair, ready to subtly verify, abandon the thought.
As for others in the cafeteria who were eagerly discussing, they didn't know the subject of their discussion had openly left right under their noses.
However, after leaving, Jiang Lingxi used her newly registered student account to check the campus forum.
Discussion about her was still ongoing, yet there were no photos, only a screenshot of their class chatroom members, presumably shared by a classmate.
"Let's go, after eating and drinking, it's time to go home!"
Let everyone discuss as they please, it's just shocking news and a little idle talk since it was just learned today.
Later on, they'll become used to it and find it commonplace. Students who can get into Jing University know that studying is the priority.
She was sure this wouldn't affect her much.
