Chapter 798: A Challenging Role, and the Start of School
The character Fu Li, played by Jiang Lingxi, is quite a contradictory role in the drama.
Originally, she was a problem girl with no parental guidance, as her parents died early. She once engaged in smoking, drinking, and perming her hair for thrills, doing everything that bad kids are said to do.
In one sentence, she was naturally rebellious and loved freedom.
This kind of unpredictable personality was hardly suitable for joining the military, where you have to constantly abide by strict military discipline as a soldier.
But it seemed that one day she suddenly realized something, and within a short period, she transformed from a problem girl into a helpful, obedient, and sensible little girl.
After successfully passing a series of rigorous selections and entering the recruit training camp, she trained desperately, earned an excellent evaluation, and was promoted exceptionally to qualify for taking on missions.
But there was a reason behind all this.
The little girl had been secretly investigating the truth behind her parents' murder.
She was doing so during her problem girl days and later decided to join the army for this reason.
She realized that seeking revenge solely based on her current capabilities was as futile as throwing eggs against a wall. To succeed, she needed to become stronger herself and seek the help of stronger just forces.
The final result was that with the cooperation of her teammates, she uncovered the truth about her parents' murder and thoroughly destroyed the criminal gang behind it.
The contrast before and after this character is significant. It was also Jiang Lingxi's first attempt and could even be said to be a challenge.
The scenes in the military camp were shot first, while the problem girl period's scenes were instead left for last.
The earlier scenes were okay. While filming the training scenes was indeed tiring, she found the training methods quite novel and her body could handle it well, making the experience rather relaxing and fulfilling.
The scenes that were somewhat challenging for her were instead the latter parts.
When filming the problem girl scenes, the colorful hair was actually manageable; just wear a wig.
Of course, drinking wasn't real; for white wine, they used clear water, for red wine, cola or diluted tomato juice, and for beer, sparkling water.
It was only the smoking part that, for the sake of realism, she temporarily learned to smoke from someone in the crew who could smoke.
But the hardest part was how to convincingly disguise herself as an unimpeachable problem girl without arousing any suspicion.
This was also the scene with the most takes (NGs).
According to the director, she had the problem girl feel, but no matter what, she looked more like a gang leader than a follower of some petty crew.
Jiang Lingxi: "..."
She was really trying hard to restrain herself!
Fortunately, the main scriptwriter of this drama was also in the crew. After watching a few sets of footage shot by Jiang Lingxi, he simply gathered the other scriptwriters and the director to discuss, then with a swift stroke, changed Jiang Lingxi's character from a minor follower in the group of problem teenagers to the gang leader the director mentioned.
With such a change, when filming resumed,
Director: "Finally nailed it!"
The key effect was quite good.
Jiang Lingxi also breathed a sigh of relief.
She hated NGs.
After finishing shooting the scenes of her period as a problem girl, and supplementing a few more shots after a few days, just before the major universities started their new academic year, Jiang Lingxi as the third female lead Fu Li successfully wrapped up shooting.
After enjoying the wrap party and wrap cake, she waved goodbye to the other actors in the crew who hadn't finished their roles yet and left the crew with Lu Zhengzheng and Fang Yao, with her hair cut short for the role.
Next up was preparing for the upcoming school registration.
Tong Yue also silently reviewed her artist's work for the past half-year.
She had three different types of dramas awaiting broadcast.
"Gale" had just concluded its run abroad, earning close to three billion in box office revenue, and with the revenue accumulated domestically in Hua State earlier, totaling around seven billion, it could rank among the top in the box office statistics for films released over the past year.
It's now also available and continuously popular on major video platforms.
During the shooting of the military drama, the broadcast of "Taoyuan Village" also maintained a wave of popularity.
There was also a replay of "Yuan Zhao Empress" on Lotus TV.
With this calculation, even if Jiang Lingxi's workload decreased in the second half of the year, she wouldn't lack exposure, giving peace of mind.
Then let's go to school!
*
September 1.
Most major universities start their new academic year around this time.
Jing University is no exception.
In just a few days, Jiang Lingxi's hair couldn't grow much longer. Extensions weren't even on her mind, so she still had her short hair that looked like a tomboy's.
Wearing a set of loose, breathable, and comfortable sportswear, with a baseball cap on her head and a lollipop in her mouth, she gave off a vibe of simple ease.
But her temperament was still outstanding.
Even though she attracted many glances after entering the campus, no one recognized her.
The difference from her usual image was indeed quite significant.
Jiang Lingxi was happy with the freedom and, while walking toward the registration area, observed the campus where she would spend quite a bit of time.
Because of Xu Ling'an, she had been to Hua University once, but this was her first time at Jing University.
There were indeed more people on the first day of school, but the scenery was still quite beautiful.
Shen Yunqing walked behind her, holding the admission notice and other documents needed for new student registration.
His outfit today was also quite different from usual. He wore a gray-blue tracksuit from the same brand as the one Jiang Lingxi was wearing, with a baseball cap on his head matching hers in a couple's fashion.
Perhaps influenced by the youthful atmosphere around him, his demeanor also became lighter. Coupled with this outfit, he hardly looked any different from the college students around.
As they walked, he was stopped by an enthusiastic 'senior', "Classmate, are you also a new student? Need any help?"
Jiang Lingxi walked a few steps forward until she noticed the familiar footsteps behind her had not followed. She turned around, raising an eyebrow instantly.
Switched the lollipop in her mouth to a different direction, took out a pair of exaggerated and quirky sunglasses from her pocket, wore them, and switched back to the overbearing gang leader aura she had just shed from filming. She turned around and headed back.
Before Shen Yunqing could refuse the offer of help, she reached out and tightly grasped his hand, asserting her ownership.
The 'senior' who was just thinking of getting to know the charming and handsome junior: "..."
Where did this arrogant gang leader come from?
But looking at their hands clasped together, the matching hats, and the dominating gaze behind those sunglasses, even though you couldn't see her eyes...
"No, sorry, I have something to do. I have to go now."
After the other party turned around and quickly melted into the crowd, Jiang Lingxi lightly snorted and switched the lollipop to another angle in her mouth again.
"Was that fun?"
"Not bad."
