Chapter 009
Chapter 009: Deception!:
The moment Xie Qingshuang disappeared from Song Ye’s sight, he immediately summoned his demonic energy, using its powerful force to shatter the barrier she had set around him.
There was no way he was going to stay there and wait for her to return.
Though he was curious about what kind of “sincerity” she was planning to show him, he feared that she might bring her master, Xie Liuzhen, back with her.
Xie Liuzhen’s cultivation had reached the Supreme Realm, and she was nearly unrivaled on the entire Xuanyuan Continent.
If she arrived, she’d see instantly that Song Ye had taken up the demonic path, and she’d kill him on the spot without a second thought.
With her level of power, a mere gesture would be enough to turn him to ashes.
Song Ye believed he still held some sort of disciple’s bond with Xie Liuzhen, but there was no doubt she would kill him without hesitation.
Throughout history, an immortal sect harboring a demonic cultivator was considered a stain upon the sect’s honor.
As Sect Master, Xie Liuzhen would always put the reputation of the Heavenly Mystery Sect first. She would strike him down herself, even before anyone else could discover his demonic transformation, to preserve the sect’s name.
So, in order to save his own life, Song Ye knew he had to escape as soon as possible. Staying here and waiting was simply not an option.
However, there was one last thing he wanted to do first.
He snapped his fingers, summoning a flame in his right hand and tossing it onto the small wooden hut.
Within moments, the entire hut was engulfed in flames, the crackling sound of burning wood filling the air.
Turning away, he walked off, not looking back as the flames burned behind him.
Burning the hut was his way of erasing his last trace of life here, a decisive act to sever his ties with the past.
By the time Xie Qingshuang returned, he would be long gone. As he walked away, the system’s voice echoed in his mind:
[Ding! Host has shown deceit and betrayal by tricking a kind-hearted immortal fairy, a true act of a demonic villain. Villain Achievement Points +30!]
Well, not bad—another 30 Villain Points earned!
After leaving the bamboo grove, Song Ye took to the air, heading toward his next destination: White Maple City.
…
Back at the Heavenly Mystery Sect.
Xie Qingshuang had returned to her private quarters. She closed the doors and windows, then began searching through her belongings.
Finally, at the bottom of a large chest, she found a pristine set of robes.
It was an outfit Song Ye had given her at the end of last year.
He had asked her to wear it to the Lantern Festival, hoping she’d join him in White Maple City to watch the fireworks.
Naturally, Xie Qingshuang hadn’t shown up. Song Ye had waited in White Maple City all night, but she never came.
When he returned, he didn’t blame her for breaking their plans. Instead, he smiled and told her it didn’t matter if she missed the fireworks. He just wanted to see her in the dress one day.
Even with such a simple request, she had coldly turned him down.
So, she had never worn the dress—it was still as new as the day he’d given it to her.
Now, she planned to wear it when she saw him, as a gesture of sincerity, and perhaps to fulfill one of his small, unspoken wishes.
She took off her robe and began to change into the dress.
When she was all dressed, she hesitated to leave.
The dress was pure white with a high hem that revealed her long, fair legs. It had a deep V neckline that subtly accentuated her figure.
She also found a pair of sheer white thigh-high stockings to match.
These stockings were popular in the Eastern Territories, where many sect fairies liked to wear them.
But Xie Qingshuang had never worn such a thing.
After a bit of mental preparation, she finally put on the stockings Song Ye had chosen especially for her.
That mischievous junior brother had clearly had other plans for that night. He probably had a room booked at the best inn in White Maple City, with intentions far beyond watching fireworks.
Lucky for her, she hadn’t gone that night!
But it seemed fate had other ideas; she was destined to wear the dress after all.
Peeking out her door, she looked around to make sure no one was nearby before stepping out.
Unfortunately, as she turned a corner, she ran right into Xiao Qin, the maid from the Sect Master’s Hall.
Xiao Qin gave her a knowing smile.
With a slight bow, she greeted her, “Greetings, Daoist Xie.”
Xie Qingshuang, as a Lingxuan Cultivator, held a respected position within the sect, so ordinary disciples were required to show her courtesy.
But wearing this outfit made her feel out of place, like a thief caught in the act.
The smile Xiao Qin gave her left Xie Qingshuang uneasy. She was sure the maid had misunderstood the situation, and while she wanted to explain, she feared it would only make things worse.
She quickly channeled a flight spell and took off toward the bamboo grove.
When she arrived above the grove, she noticed that the barrier she had placed had been broken.
This was bad! Song Ye could be in danger!
