Chapter 14-Why don’t you let me come back obediently?
Eber extended a gracious invitation to Lyle and Lilyss as well.
Initially, Lyle was reluctant to accept.
However, the elven maiden blinked her pure, doe-like eyes.
Teacher, are you perhaps apprehensive about encountering Xiyaa?
We are organizing an exceptionally stylish cool party!
Care to guess who was left uninvited?
Ah!
Thus, Lyle’s resistance crumbled.
He promptly arrived with Lilyss in tow.
Though discretion was our approach,
The elven maiden still adorned herself in an ensemble of refined elegance, a delicate azure gown complemented by golden tresses adorned with a petite butterfly ornament.
The profound sapphire gaze and the golden tresses formed an immensely striking contrast, close to a sapphire bathed in golden sunlight, exuding a meticulously enchanting beauty.
Lyle was momentarily captivated.
How peculiar that beneath this physical veneer lies the soul of an ultimate connoisseur.
Lilyss, too, appeared somewhat bashful.
In truth, her appearance isn’t particularly remarkable…
Each elven being carries a unique fragrance of flora and herbs.
After several days of close proximity, Lyle had undoubtedly absorbed her essence.
The result being that the more he gazed upon Lilyss, the more he found her appealing.
Much like indulging in fine wine.
“You arrived a bit early, didn’t you?”
The Silver Guild had reserved an entire venue for the cool party, a resplendent hall adorned with a wealth of goblets and victuals.
Eber’s intentions were rather straightforward.
Simultaneously promoting the new wine and conveying his sincerity to Lyle,
Lilyss’s eyes gleamed as she appraised the diverse array of delicacies on the table, exclaiming with sophistication, “May I partake freely?”
“Indeed.”
Lyle handed her a plate, stating, “Today, it’s all about indulging your palate. As for the rest, merely peruse.”
This was also his way of reciprocating Eber’s hospitality.
He had no intention of positioning himself for the Three Guilds to haggle over.
His collaboration was genuine.
Lilyss was on the verge of tears from happiness and didn’t forget her dear friend, “May I take some for Sue?”
“You don’t seem all that impoverished, do you?”
“I mustn’t squander recklessly! I still have to pay off my housing debt!”
Lilyss pouted, “I’m actually quite destitute!”
Lyle chuckled in response.
Recollections of my days of wandering in society have resurfaced.
In many respects, Iofar bears a striking resemblance to a bustling metropolis.
Prices are exorbitant, rent is sky-high, and the red-light district thrives.
“Put on a facade.”
“Well, Teacher, you’re quite benevolent!”
“Tsk, utterly clueless.”
“What’s wrong?”
“Include fewer fruits and more pastries.”
“But Sue enjoys fruits.”
“Fruits are inexpensive and can be purchased individually, pastries, on the other hand, are costly!”
“Right… Wait, Teacher, why are you so proficient at this?”
The servers from the Silver Guild were left wide-eyed,
observing these two individuals as they used their bags to collect a bit of each dish.
Particularly that pointed-eared one,
Gobbling food down as if she’s been starved.
Simultaneously filling her bag and stuffing her mouth.
This is an event attended by top-tier adventurer parties, isn’t it?
I’ve never seen anyone so voracious.
Are you both trying to act like gluttons here?
“Mr. Lyle!”
Coincidentally, at that moment, Eber was all smiles as he approached, saying, “Are you satisfied with the arrangements? Let me introduce you to my wives.”
Lyle glanced at the three beautiful women behind him.
“Your wives are quite lovely.”
“Haha, but they can’t compare to you, Mr. Lyle. My three wives always bicker and get jealous of each other. It’s because they were young and didn’t know better back then. Sigh~”
Geez, he’s being so sarcastic again?
Lyle, with a hint of envy, remarked, “Mr. Eber, you have three wives with such diverse personalities. And you even generously invited me to enjoy a trip to Dreamer’s Paradise. I truly envy your boundless energy!”
The expressions of the three women subtly changed.
Eber: “…”
Are you kidding me?
I invited you to Dreamer’s Paradise, and you’re saying this in front of my wives?
Lyle warmly shook Eber’s hand and added, “Don’t forget to keep your wives’ treasures hidden when you get back.”
Eber, sweating profusely, led his wives to entertain the guests.
With a bag full of goodies, Lilyss quietly sat on a nearby sofa, munching on her snacks.
“Lilyss, it seems like he really wants to establish a good relationship with you?”
“If it were you, even with Level 6 brewing skills, you’d still be struggling to make ends meet at the Oakwood Tavern, right?”
Lyle playfully flicked her forehead with his finger and said, “That’s why I emphasize the importance of one’s mindset.”
Lilyss, looking irritated, covered her forehead.
Lyle quickly responded, “Don’t say it!”
“Since you’re so talented, why do you still play the role of a ‘lickspittle’?”
A hint of annoyance flickered in Lyle’s eyes. He took a moment before replying, “In the beginning, I was like that succubus, an unwanted scholar. It was Xiyaa who helped me. When you mention ‘lickspittle,’ well, maybe that’s right. But it’s been about two years now, and that’s probably enough.”
“So, you were really forced out?” Lilyss asked.
Lyle shook his head. “Lilyss, don’t judge a person solely based on others’ memories. Just like your view of Su, in my eyes, she’s a very cautious little hedgehog when it comes to humans. I don’t like her; she’s prone to harming others and herself.”
“I know, Lyle, you’re actually a very good person.”
Lilyss rested her chin on her hands, her eyes filled with melancholy. “I really hope Su can find her own companions.”
It’s hard to say.
Lyle shook his head, choosing not to discourage her. The Dungeon is not a game; it might require risking one’s life. Lyle himself faced challenges due to the lack of formal education. He always felt inferior in front of Xiyaa.
While Su doesn’t trust others, people are also hesitant to trust a succubus.
As the evening progressed, the formal dinner began. Popular adventurer groups like Moonlight Blossom and Crystal Tears had arrived, and the venue was bustling with a diverse crowd.
Miss Xiyaa was undoubtedly the center of attention.
Lyle and Lilyss sat in a corner, observing the scene. However, Lilyss became somewhat frustrated when Eber invited Xiyaa on stage to taste the new wine.
“Why is he like this?!”
Lyle cut a slice of cake and handed it to her. “Moonlight Blossom is one of the top adventurer groups beneath the Mythical Guild. There’s no issue in inviting them, and it also shows that Eber is willing to invest.”
“But it’s just so distasteful!” Lilyss huffed. “Why not invite Crystal Tears? I envy her so much!”
Lyle pondered for a moment. “Perhaps there’s a misunderstanding. It’s not widely known that I left Moonlight Blossom, and besides, why are you so angry?”
Just before the radiant Xiyaa went on stage, she turned and exchanged a brief glance with Lyle. In that moment, beneath her proud and regal exterior, Lyle sensed something.
“Hey! Did you see that? Moonlight Blossom is quite popular. Isn’t it time for you to return to us, my dear?”
