Chapter 26: RESONANCE OF POWER

The team had not fought together so they were not fighting as a team. Kipkemboi charged forward, katana flashing as he aimed for the Firstborn's chest. The blade struck the demigod's massive arm with a sharp clang, but it didn't even leave a scratch. The Firstborn's eyes narrowed as he swatted Kipkemboi away with a single backhanded motion, sending him crashing into a nearby tree.

"Too weak," the demigod sneered.

As Kipkemboi hit the ground, Kit Mi Kai sprang into action. His hands shot toward the earth, and with a roar, he summoned a massive wave of jagged rocks from the forest floor, sending them hurtling toward the Firstborn. The ground trembled as the rock formations rushed forward, aiming to crush the demigod under their weight.

But the Firstborn merely raised a hand. With a flick of his wrist, the rocks shattered, crumbling into dust before they even touched him. Kit Mi Kai's eyes widened in disbelief.

"Is this the best you can do?" the demigod mocked, his voice a deep rumble. "You mortals are nothing compared to the power of a god."

Jajwok gritted his teeth, feeling the crackle of electricity surge through his veins. He wasn't going to let his friends get beaten down. With a flash of lightning, he shot forward, faster than the eye could follow, his body a blur of electric energy. He aimed for the Firstborn's legs, hoping to knock the demigod off balance.

But just as Jajwok was about to strike, the Firstborn stomped the ground, sending out a shockwave that disrupted Jajwok's speed. The lightning-wielder was thrown off course, stumbling as the ground shook beneath him.

Before he could recover, the hare Prince darted toward him with terrifying speed, its long, sharp teeth bared. Jajwok barely managed to throw up a shield of lightning, but the hare collided with it, sending sparks flying as it clawed at the crackling barrier.

Kit Mi Kai grunted, pushing himself up from the ground. He raised his hands once more, summoning a massive boulder from the earth and hurling it at the hare Prince, aiming to crush the creature. The boulder slammed into the hare with tremendous force, pinning it to the ground.

But the victory was short-lived. The hare Prince let out a bloodcurdling screech, its body twisting and morphing as it pushed the boulder off, its eyes glowing with even more malevolent energy. It licked its blood-stained teeth, grinning wickedly as it prepared to attack again.

Olamsuri, who had been waiting for her moment, finally acted. Her eyes glowed with the void, and she raised her rungu high. With a flash, she vanished, teleporting behind the hare Prince just as it prepared to lunge at Jajwok. She swung her rungu at the back of the hare's head, but the creature moved too quickly, dodging her blow and turning to face her with a snarl.

"You're too slow," the hare Prince hissed, its voice dripping with malice.

Olamsuri teleported again, but the hare seemed to anticipate her moves. It swiped at her with its sharp claws, nicking her arm as she barely escaped. Blood dripped from her wound, but she clenched her jaw, teleporting once more, this time appearing next to Kipkemboi.

"Kip, we need a plan," she panted, her eyes scanning the battlefield. "This thing is too fast, and the demigod… he's barely even trying."

Kipkemboi, breathing heavily from the earlier blow, nodded. "We need to divide them. If we focus all our energy on the hare, the demigod will crush us."

Kit Mi Kai overheard and gritted his teeth. He raised both hands, calling upon the very earth itself. Giant slabs of rock erupted from the ground, forming barriers that divided the demigod from the hare Prince. It wouldn't last long, but it would buy them precious moments.

"Jajwok!" Kit Mi Kai shouted. "Take care of the hare. Kipkemboi, Olamsuri, with me—we'll focus on the demigod."

Jajwok nodded, his eyes sparking with lightning. He turned to face the hare Prince, the air around him humming with electric energy. "It's just you and me now, bunny," he growled.

The hare cackled, its eyes gleaming with madness. "I'm going to enjoy ripping you apart."

With that, the two clashed, Jajwok's lightning strikes crackling against the hare's savage claws. Sparks flew as the hare dodged and weaved through Jajwok's electric onslaught, but Jajwok pressed on, determined not to give the creature an inch.

Meanwhile, Kit Mi Kai, Kipkemboi, and Olamsuri turned their attention to the Firstborn. The demigod stood unmoving, a smirk playing on his lips as he watched them.

"You really think you stand a chance?" the Firstborn taunted. "I am the firstborn of Ngai. I am a god."

Kit Mi Kai didn't respond. He raised his arms, and the earth trembled beneath him as he summoned a massive wave of rock to crash down upon the demigod. At the same time, Kipkemboi dashed forward, his katana gleaming as he aimed for the demigod's exposed neck. Olamsuri vanished, teleporting to strike from the other side.

But the demigod was too fast. He raised a hand, stopping the rock wave in midair and flinging it back at Kit Mi Kai. Kipkemboi's sword barely grazed his skin before the demigod caught him by the wrist, slamming him into the ground with bone-shattering force. Olamsuri reappeared behind him, but before she could strike, the demigod turned and backhanded her, sending her flying into a tree.

One by one, they fell. Kit Mi Kai was crushed beneath his own boulders. Kipkemboi lay broken on the ground, his katana buried beside him. Olamsuri's vision blurred as she coughed up blood, barely conscious. Jajwok, having given everything he had, collapsed in a heap, his body singed and battered.

The Firstborn of Ngai stood tall over their broken forms, his cold eyes devoid of pity. The hare Prince grinned wickedly, licking the blood from its claws.

The squad lay beaten, on the edge of death, powerless against the might of the demigod and his twisted servant.

The squad lay broken on the ground, their bodies bruised and battered, breaths shallow and fading. Jajwok, blood dripping from his lips, his body trembling from the intense fight, felt something deep inside him shift. His vision blurred, and just before he lost consciousness, he saw a figure appear in his mind—a version of himself, older, wiser, and more powerful.

"Get up," the future Jajwok said in his mind. "You're not done yet."

Jajwok's eyes fluttered open, the air around him humming with a newfound energy. Through the pain, he stretched his hand toward the ground, his fingers trembling as they made contact with the earth. Lightning surged from his fingertips, snaking through the soil like veins of raw energy, connecting to each of his fallen comrades.

Kit Mi Kai, Kipkemboi, and Olamsuri stirred as the current of lightning linked them together.

In that moment, something extraordinary happened.

Kit Mi Kai's mind opened to Jajwok's lightning, feeling the crackling energy surge through him. He could feel the weight of Kipkemboi's katana in his hands, the pulse of Olamsuri's void energy, the sheer speed and precision of their movements. At the same time, Jajwok felt Kit Mi Kai's deep connection to the earth, his control over rock and stone blending with his own powers.

The four of them were no longer individuals—they were one, united by Jajwok's lightning, sharing emotions, skills, and powers.

But Jajwok couldn't move. He had to remain connected to the ground, his body the conduit keeping the link alive. He gritted his teeth, feeling the weight of the entire battle on his shoulders. If he moved, it would all fall apart.

The demigod's eyes narrowed as he felt the shift in the air, sensing the surge of power coursing through the squad. "What is this?" he growled, his voice filled with contempt. "You think this trick will save you?"

Kit Mi Kai, now wielding lightning in one hand and manipulating the earth in the other, rose to his feet. He could feel Olamsuri's teleportation ability coursing through his veins, allowing him to shift his position in an instant. His eyes crackled with electricity as he glanced at his friends, seeing the same determination in their eyes.

"No tricks," Kit Mi Kai said, his voice calm but deadly. "Just power."

Without another word, the three of them launched into action. Kit Mi Kai teleported in a flash of lightning, reappearing directly in front of the demigod. His fists crackled with energy as he slammed them into the ground, summoning massive pillars of rock and lightning that shot up from beneath the demigod, forcing him to leap back.

Kipkemboi, now moving with blinding speed thanks to Olamsuri's void manipulation, appeared behind the demigod, his katana gleaming as he struck at the god's back. The demigod barely managed to block the strike, but the force of it sent him staggering forward, leaving him vulnerable.

Olamsuri, her body infused with the raw power of lightning and stone, teleported above the demigod, her rungu glowing with void energy. She struck down with all her might, slamming her weapon into the demigod's shoulder, the force of the blow cracking the ground beneath him.

The demigod roared in fury, his godlike strength faltering under the relentless assault. "Hare Prince!" he bellowed. "Kill the one holding them together!"

The hare Prince, still licking his bloodied claws, turned his gaze toward Jajwok, who was still kneeling on the ground, his hand pressed to the earth. Without Jajwok, the link would break, and the others would lose their shared power. The hare Prince's eyes gleamed with malevolent glee as he lunged toward Jajwok, moving so fast he became a blur.

But Olamsuri was ready. Her eyes, now enhanced with the speed of lightning, tracked the hare Prince's every movement. She teleported in an instant, appearing between the hare and Jajwok, her rungu spinning with void energy. The hare Prince snarled and swiped at her, but Olamsuri parried the attack, her movements fluid and precise.

"You're not getting through me," she said, her voice low and deadly.

The hare Prince hissed, launching a flurry of attacks, but Olamsuri matched him move for move, teleporting out of his reach every time he got too close. With her newfound speed, she could finally see him—every twitch of his muscles, every shift of his body—and she used it to her advantage.

Her rungu struck again and again, leaving deep gashes in the hare Prince's flesh as she defended Jajwok with everything she had.

Meanwhile, Kit Mi Kai and Kipkemboi were pushing the demigod to his limits. Kit Mi Kai, wielding both earth and lightning, summoned massive boulders that erupted from the ground, slamming into the demigod from all sides. Kipkemboi dashed between the pillars of rock, his katana a blur as he struck at the demigod's exposed limbs, each slash cutting deeper and deeper.

The demigod's roars of rage grew louder, but he was losing ground. "You dare!" he bellowed, his voice shaking the very air around them. "You dare challenge a god?!"

"We dare," Kit Mi Kai replied coldly. With a final burst of strength, he summoned a massive spike of earth, driving it straight through the demigod's chest. The demigod let out a choked gasp, his godlike form beginning to crumble.

Kipkemboi, with lightning speed, slashed across the demigod's neck, severing his head in a single, brutal motion. The demigod's body collapsed to the ground, blood pooling around him as his lifeless form disintegrated into dust.

The squad stood over the remains, panting, their bodies trembling from the exertion. But before they could catch their breath, a sudden gust of wind blew through the clearing. The hare Prince, now bleeding profusely from his wounds, snarled as he prepared to flee.

But before they could finish him, a shadowy figure appeared out of nowhere—another hare, this one larger and more fearsome, with eyes glowing like embers.

"That's his brother," Jajwok whispered, his voice weak from maintaining the link.

The larger hare grabbed the hare Prince by the arm, and in a flash of blinding speed, they were gone, disappearing into the forest before anyone could react.

The squad, battered but victorious, collapsed to the ground, gasping for air as the battle finally came to an end.

As they lay on the ground, their bodies aching and bruised, the squad fought to catch their breath. The air was thick with the smell of blood and dust, and their ears still rang from the intensity of the battle. Silence settled over the clearing, broken only by the faint crackling of the destroyed demigod's remains.

Suddenly, the stillness was shattered by a low hum. Before any of them could react, a swirling mass of energy began to materialize in front of them. The air warped, bending and twisting as the portal opened up. The deep, dark void within the portal pulsed ominously, beckoning them forward.

"What… is that?" Olamsuri asked, her voice barely above a whisper, eyes wide with shock.

Jajwok's grip on the ground loosened, his body trembling from the exertion of maintaining the link. "I've never seen anything like it," he said, wiping the sweat from his brow.

Just then, a notification flashed before Kit Mi Kai and Kipkemboi's eyes, clear and unmistakable, as if written in the very air they breathed.
