Chapter 17: The Moon and the Wolf (2)

A week later

Harry had felt the change in the magical particles in the next lunar phase: crescent moon. When this happened, the magical particles increased in power a little more, but they became a little more disordered, it was as if they were more uncontrollable... more aggressive. Harry knew that they had no consciousness, of course, but aggressive was the easiest word to understand and suited the way they behaved when entering his body.

If in the previous phase it felt like these particles were water from a bottle being poured into a glass, it was calmer and gentler. In contrast, in the crescent moon phase, it felt like someone was throwing water at you with a hose. The amount was not something relevant to the comparison, but the force and aggressiveness of how they entered the body. And, if Harry were not sensing this with his sage mode, he would not be able to feel anything other than that he was a little more lively, as if someone put something in his body that made him more active.

Feeling all this, Harry set out to buy many books related to the moon and its phases, whether scientific, magical, or simple muggle mystical topics. Slowly he read each book carefully. The days passed slowly, until Harry found something interesting in a muggle book.

About the crescent moon, the book said this: Good phase for productivity and acceleration of daily work. Rational judgment is in full activity; during these days one is more objective.

This phase charges relationships with good will, making us constructive. Work initiatives of all kinds come out with an advantage, but social encounters under this moon are often cancelled at the last moment; although, if they take place, they are usually harmonious. In relation to activities that are in process and underway, new elements or difficulties may arise during this phase. It is time to overcome them.

The crescent moon is favorable for introducing changes in old habits, ways of thinking, acting, feeling. If you want to boost hair growth, cut it during this phase, especially when the moon is transiting the signs of Taurus, Leo, Virgo, or Capricorn.

The book seemed to contain information that many would take as nonsense, but, at this moment, Harry would think of all the information he could find. And, this, actually, was not so bad. The book described the phases of the moon and the effect it could have on people, so he trained in connection with what he had felt exactly in his sage mode and without it. That feeling of being more active was similar to the current description. Someone who was more active would clearly be more constructive in ideas or work, as well as being able to be too invasive or annoying when meeting new people.

The part about difficulties could also have some relation to the werewolves, who began to feel more nervous and fearful when the time for their transformation approached. Of course, the werewolves were good people and had not lost themselves in the darkness of their illness.

When Harry continued reading the same book and got to the part about the full moon, he found something more interesting:

Everything that was stimulated during the new moon and carried out during the waxing phases reaches its maximum development here, whether its results are positive or negative. The moon, full of light, unsettles the spirits; reason loses ground and emotions are unleashed. The full moon is also known to incite violence, incidents and crimes with emotional roots increase. The organism tends to become upset more easily; headaches and migraines are typical of this phase.

Harry rubbed his chin as he spoke to himself: "The waxing moon phase coincides with what happened when I felt the magic particles. If they all coincide, then this may be one of the causes for someone with the disease to transform into a werewolf at that time."

"But, now that I have this information, I have to wait for the full moon to be able to feel the change in the magic particles."

. . .

Harry blinked as he looked ahead with his toad-like eyes. The magic particles felt much more powerful, but that previous aggressiveness had been lost a little. They entered his body, but much faster, causing his spiritual energy to recover a little faster, but causing a small change within him. The magic particles entered so fast that it created a small internal energy imbalance.

It was not something dangerous or difficult to solve, for someone with his control it only took a few seconds, a minute at worst. But this happened mostly because his body had chakra and was in sage mode. For someone, like a normal wizard or witch, they would hardly feel anything too impressive, they would just feel a little stronger.

But, the most important thing about this, was the element of nature that he could feel...

It was Yin...

Yin in one of its principles, had absorption. On the other hand, Yang had penetration. At night, an element like Yin was much easier to absorb but, at the same time, to overload with that energy. Yin was also a term related to the covered and the interior.

Some also say that Yin is more related to the mind and Yang to the heart.

But also, Yin was the opposite of Yang as light was darkness.

But, even with all this...

"I'm not getting anywhere. If I want to get to the main point, I need to see the transformation of a werewolf and how Yin and enhanced magic particles affect their body," Harry grumbled, a little annoyed at not getting anywhere.

"I wonder if there are any werewolves in Azkaban," Harry muttered curiously. It would be dangerous to enter the prison, but not impossible. But, even if entering didn't pose a big problem, the Dementors would.

"I guess I'll have to talk to Moony," Harry walked into the house and looked at Hedwig.

"Hey... girl."

Hedwig looked away, causing Harry to smile a little at how annoyed his owl was at not having anything to send. She liked to fly and have an errand every now and then, but Harry had been unintentionally ignoring her for a while.

"I have a letter I need you to deliver, do you want to do it?" Harry asked, but got no response and sighed dramatically, "I suppose I can find an owl who actually wants to help me."

As he said that, Hedwig flew over and smacked Harry's head with her beak. It wasn't too hard, but just enough to cause Harry discomfort.

"Okay! Okay, Hedwig!... I won't look for another owl, you're the best."

Harry smiled as he watched Hedwig's chest rise a little before standing on Harry's shoulder.

"Well... I'll write the letter and I want you to give it to Moony. But I don't know where he is, would you be able to find him?"

Hedwig gave her owner a haughty look, as if the question was completely unnecessary and stupid.

"Right..." Harry smiled a little wryly before starting to write the letter. He just hoped that Moony would agree once he was here.

. . .

Remus Lupin was in the muggle world, working in a bookstore, so he could earn a little money to support his living expenses. Honestly, he didn't like this job very much, but he wouldn't be a picky person, especially with his annoying condition that wouldn't give him a job in the wizarding world.

But, as he was ordering some books, he was surprised to see an owl standing on the window as it looked at him.

"You're... Hedwig? Harry's owl?" Remus asked curious and surprised. Hedwig nodded before extending her paw, showing a small rolled up paper. Remus walked over and took it before unrolling it and starting to read. The more he read, his eyebrows rose.

"Harry wants me to help him with some research?"

Hedwig squeaked a little before nodding.

"Well... he could go to the place he told me about this weekend, I'm free those days," Remus told Hedwig. "Wait there, Hedwig. I'll write him a letter back."
