Adventures of the last Wild Dragon

Chapter 158: Revenge

Violet slowly awoke from the comforting embrace of sleep, her everything hurt. From the deep pain across her chest to the worrying numbness of her front leg, then came her throat and mouth… using her dragon breath is truly a double edged sword. The power it can unleash is terrifying, but the consequences of using it are quite painful too.

With her thoughts slowly coming back into focus, Violet first checked on her notifications to see why it is blinking so aggressively at her.

Violet's tired mind took a while to look over her full status screen, taking in the ever growing list of skills that she now had. Soon her eye caught on something that she thought was different. Her maximum mana seemed to have increased massively, compared to what it should have. The only possible reason being her new skill, Dragon Heart.

Violet focused on that skill to try and figure out what could be causing this. Her eyes opened wide in shock when she understood what this skill meant.

Dragon Heart was a truly powerful skill, it was both simple, yet the implications were quite staggering. It was a skill that doubled the impact her intelligence had on her maximum mana to start off with. But that was only one aspect, it also fundamentally changed her actual heart, turning it into a pseudo mana engine. Her hear will now passively create mana, continually producing it and enhancing the mana density in the very world around her.

Now this is not a fast process by any means, it would take a considerable number of years to make any meaningful impact on the mana density of even a small location. At least for now, for this mana production is tied to her maximum mana. So the more mana she gains, the more mana she will passively produce.

This skill also had a tertiary effect, for any individual of her choosing with the effect of her presence, she can now boost their own passive mana recovery.

All in all, this was quite the impactful new skill that Violet found herself with. And learning about it also served the purpose of fully awakening her.

Slowly opening her eyes Violet looked around, she still seemed to be in the same place that she passed out in. A warm and familiar weight resting against her side could be felt, glancing down she spotted Luna, sleeping peacefully whilst curled up besides her, one of violets wings had instinctively extended to cover her as she slept. As if sensing Violet awaken, Luna slowly opened her own eyes, instantly meeting Violet's own.

"We won." Luna's tired voice reached her, causing Violet to smile down at her companion.

"That we did, it was a tough fight, but we came out stronger in the end! Do you know what happened with everyone else?" Violet asked, hoping that their friends turned out ok in the end.

Stretching out, Luna replied with a yawn. "Rhyana and Susan are alright, they hit level 80! They want to wait a bit before they evolve though, don't feel all too safe currently to be out of commission whilst evolving whilst we are recovering." Violet could only nod at that, finding it quite reasonable that they wouldn't want to take that risk whilst her and Luna would be unable to protect them.

"Apart from that, the regular beasts took quite the hit, they lost about half of their numbers in the fight, and one of the beast lords died too. The Storn Touched came out quite well though I think, the big dog seemed quite happy after the fight anyhoo. I think that's about it… oh I gained a couple of levels too!"

Violet smiled tenderly at her companion who had moved up and gently rubbed her head against Violet's own. "That's good, I'm happy for them both. Hopefully they gain some good options for their advancements. I'm surprised that only a single one of the beast lords died, they felt quite weak. Not surprised that the big dog survived though, I do still owe him a smack for what he said!"

Luna chucked at her words, but did not refute them. After all the dog had threatened to sever their bond, that is not something that either of them can forgive easily. Even when he did seem apologetic after the fact.

As if hearing their discussion the big dog in question, the Orthrus walked over to where the two companions lay. He looked decently battered and bloody, but still walked with steady steps and radiated power. When he got within a few meters of the girls he stopped and sent out a mind bridge to talk.

"Glad that you both are doing alright, was quite surprised that you both managed to kill your foe before I managed to kill mine! I thought that I'd be first and then have to come help you both out before going in to clean up the main battle, guess you both fought exceptionally." His deep voice intoned.

"Well I- we are amazing, a stupid bug is not enough to stop us!" Violet said proudly, then paused as she looked down at the state that both she and Luna are currently in. "Well… maybe it was a close fight. But we won in the end so it's fine. Oh also how long were we asleep for?"

The Orthrus huffed in amusement at the young dragons stubborn pride, still he did not refute her statement. "The battle ended around 5 hours ago, so you have been asleep for around that long."

Violet nodded her head at that seeing it as quite reasonable that she would be sleeping for that long after a tough battle. Then Violet got a great idea, a gleam of dark delight flashed in her eyes as her half glared at the Orthrus. With a supreme amount of will, Violet slowly pushed herself back up to her feet. Her chest burned in agony, she couldn't use her front leg at all, and she just felt incredibly rough as a whole.

Still she stood, and only wobbled a small amount. The Orthrus eyed her curiously, wondering why she would stand up now. Violet however was determined, she took a shaky step forward befor pausing. Looking at the Orthrus Violet gave a wicked smile that caused the big dog to frown. Then with as much speed as she could muster Violet spun around, her tail whipping around her with impressive speed and accuracy.

Then it hit.

A resounding SLAP echoed out as Violet's tail impacted the snout of one of the dogs twin heads.
