Adventurer of Many Professions

Chapter 192: Planning!

Arya stayed silent for a long moment, her gaze searching his face. Finally, she sighed deeply and stood up, walking slowly to his side. She looked up at him, her expression conflicted, but there was a new resolve in her eyes.

"You're right," she said softly. "I can't let fear control us. I... I need to keep fighting too."

Raymond nodded, the tension in his shoulders easing just a little. He placed a hand on her shoulder, giving it a reassuring squeeze. "We'll do this together. We always have."

Arya gave a small smile, though it was bittersweet. "Just promise me something."

"Anything."

"Promise me we'll always look out for each other. No matter what happens."

Raymond's smile deepened, and he pulled her into a brief but firm embrace. "I promise. We're a team, Arya. We always will be."

As they pulled apart, Arya's smile lingered, but now it was filled with a quiet determination. The world would be dangerous, and the path ahead would be uncertain. But as long as they faced it together, they could take on whatever came their way.

Raymond felt a renewed sense of purpose. The road ahead wasn't easy, but with Arya by his side, and their bond unshakable, he knew they could overcome anything.

Raymond grinned, clearly enjoying the moment. "You are a child, Arya! You'll always be my little partner." He gave her a playful wink and stepped back, his expression light and teasing.

Arya's face flushed, and she huffed, though there was an unmistakable warmth in her eyes. "I'm not a child!" she protested, crossing her arms. But the slight smile tugging at her lips betrayed her amusement.

Raymond chuckled softly, seeing that the atmosphere had lightened considerably. It was exactly what they both needed, especially Arya, who had been carrying the weight of those insecurities for so long.

"Alright, alright," he said, holding up his hands in mock surrender. "You're not a child. But you're still my little warrior in training. And that means I've got high expectations for you!"

Arya rolled her eyes but couldn't suppress the soft laugh that escaped her lips. "High expectations, huh? I'll show you!" She pointed a finger at him dramatically, mimicking a stance she had seen in movies, making Raymond laugh even harder.

He pulled her back into a brief hug, ruffling her hair. "I know you will, Arya. You've got more talent than you give yourself credit for. You just need to believe in yourself."

Arya's smile softened, and for the first time in a while, she felt like a weight had lifted from her shoulders. She had always feared she was the weak link in the team, but now, surrounded by people who saw her value, people who truly cared, she felt a renewed sense of purpose.

"I'll keep trying," she said with newfound determination. "I won't let you down."

"You already haven't," Raymond replied, his voice sincere.

They stood there for a moment, just appreciating the quiet, their bond stronger than ever.

Then, as always, the lighthearted banter returned.

"Alright," Arya said, flicking her hair over her shoulder. "Now, tell me again how you plan on dealing with those 'experienced adventurers' if they dare to trip you up?"

Raymond grinned, his tone mischievous. "I'll just remind them who the most talented person in the Kingdom of Atlantis is. You know, just in case they forgot."

Arya rolled her eyes but couldn't stop laughing. "You're impossible."

"I try," Raymond said with a wink. "But hey, we're a team. And that means we have each other's backs. Always."

"Always," Arya echoed, her voice steady and full of conviction.

And with that, the two of them knew that whatever the future held, no matter how dangerous, how uncertain, or how challenging; their bond, their friendship, and their strength as a team would be enough to face anything that came their way. Together.

The next few days passed in a blur of training, exploration, and preparation for the next mission. Arya, with renewed confidence, pushed herself harder, honing her archery skills and learning to utilize her magic affinity more effectively. Raymond, ever the patient mentor, helped her with advice and tips, all while keeping an eye on the dynamics of the team.

Meanwhile, the adventurers around them began to notice the growing strength of Raymond's team. The whispers about their talent, their potential, and the abilities of each member spread like wildfire.

And with the rising reputation came new challenges. There were always adventurers eager to test their mettle, eager to prove themselves by taking down the so-called "most talented adventurers in the Kingdom."

But Raymond, Arya, Sylph, and Lorene were ready for whatever came their way. They were more than just a team, they were a family. And they would face every obstacle together, without fear, without hesitation.

The future was uncertain, but one thing was certain: as long as they had each other, they would never back down.

Arya, still holding the bottles of potions with the same eagerness, paused for a moment, her fingers lightly tapping the glass. She looked up at Raymond, eyes gleaming with excitement. "Training? You're really going to make me wake up early for that?" She groaned playfully, though there was a hint of enthusiasm in her voice too.

Raymond chuckled, shaking his head. "You know it's necessary, Arya. You're already improving fast, but the more you practice, the faster you'll be able to keep up with us in a fight." His expression softened. "We can't always be on the defensive. If we want to stay ahead, we need to be proactive."

Arya let out a dramatic sigh, but her smile was a clear sign that she didn't mind the early mornings too much. "Fine, fine. But no more waking up at dawn, alright? Just... not before sunrise."

Raymond laughed. "Deal. We'll aim for a more reasonable hour."

"Great!" Arya said, finally setting the bottles of potion down with a satisfied look on her face. She then playfully nudged Raymond's shoulder. "I bet this is your way of getting me to focus more on training, huh? Using potions as a bribe."

Raymond grinned, shrugging. "Whatever works. Besides, we both know you're motivated by the rewards." He winked, nudging her back.

Arya rolled her eyes, but she was clearly enjoying the moment. "You're insufferable. But fine, I'll take it. I know it's for the best, even if you're kind of a taskmaster."

"I'm a taskmaster with a purpose," Raymond replied with a smile. "Now that these potions are done, I'll go hand them over to Manik. That should be enough to cover our debts for now."

"Yeah, that's a relief," Arya said, nodding. "But you know, we still need more for the rest of the supplies. Those materials weren't cheap, and we can't keep using the potions as a crutch for the team's finances."

Raymond sighed but agreed. "I know. We'll need to take on more commissions soon. Hopefully, the guild will have something more lucrative. The last mission we took wasn't bad, but we're going to need a lot more if we want to keep the momentum going."

Arya's expression grew serious as she looked down at the bottles, her fingers gently tracing the glass. "I just hope we don't run into any problems with those other adventurers. We've got a target on our backs now, especially with your reputation spreading."

Raymond's face darkened for a moment, but he quickly shook it off. "We'll deal with whatever comes our way. As long as we stick together, nothing can break us."

Arya smiled at his confidence, feeling comforted by his words. "I know. It's just… sometimes I worry. We're still so new to all of this. The bigger we get, the more risks there are. And not just for us, but for Sylph and Loreni too."

"We'll be fine," Raymond reassured her, though he couldn't shake the gnawing feeling in his gut. The world outside their little group was far more dangerous than they realized. But for now, he couldn't afford to let that doubt take root.

"Alright, I'll start getting everything ready for tomorrow's training," Arya said, her voice shifting back to a determined tone. "And Raymond... I promise, I'll be the best archer this team's ever seen."

Raymond smiled at her. "I know you will, Arya."

With that, Arya began to organize her gear while Raymond grabbed the potion bottles. He paused for a moment before turning back to Arya. "By the way, did you mean what you said before about not being a burden?"

Arya stopped mid-task and looked at him, her face a little red from the earlier conversation. "Of course. I told you, didn't I? I won't be holding you guys back."

Raymond nodded, though his expression was thoughtful. "Just remember, you're never a burden, Arya. We're in this together. No matter what, we all pull our weight. It's never just one person."

Her eyes softened as she nodded, a small smile forming. "Thanks, Raymond. I'll make sure you don't regret it."

With that, the two of them shared a quiet moment of understanding before Raymond left to deliver the potions, while Arya got ready for the training ahead. Though the road would be long and filled with challenges, both of them knew that their bond, along with the strength they gained from each other, would carry them through.
