Abyss Sequence

Chapter 62: Entering the Elf World Again

"Sasa, come over here."

Sasa was about to head to the Elf World when she received a call from Li Jiongming.

Sasa followed Li Jiongming into an office in the newly constructed campus, and immediately heard Li Jiongming ask seriously, "You disappeared for several days before. Did you go to the Elf World?"

Upon hearing this, Sasa nodded, "Yes."

She knew she couldn't hide it from Li Jiongming; her teacher was very smart and had previously noticed the relationship between her and Yan Luo, yet hadn't pointed it out.

Disappearing for over ten days earlier, Li Jiongming couldn't possibly not guess what she had been up to.

To Yan Luo, Sasa was a trustworthy partner, so it was unsurprising to entrust the Jade to her.

Having received a definite answer from Sasa, Li Jiongming pondered for a moment before conveying to Sasa what his colleagues at Lingquan University had told him.

After hearing it, Sasa fell into a daze.

"The Abyss... is this how it was formed?"

The information Li Jiongming shared with Sasa was about the origin of the Forbidden Demon Abyss, which Yan Luo had discovered from the crystal.

After telling the experts about it, Yan Luo had gone off to hunt demons again, without sharing this knowledge with Sasa. This was the first time she was hearing about the birth of the Forbidden Demon Abyss.

Li Jiongming wanted to ask Sasa to take care of something related to the Elf World.

"Next time you go to the Elf World, investigate their research on the Abyss and see if they know how it was created."

Sasa quickly nodded, "Got it. I'll be going to the Elf World again in a couple of days, and I'll look into this matter as well."

Previously, she had not investigated it in the Elf World simply because she hadn't thought of it.

She was a student specializing in the ecology of the Abyss, and researching the Abyss's origin wasn't within her field of study, so she hadn't immediately made the connection.

With Li Jiongming's reminder now, Sasa firmly remembered it and planned to start her investigation when she arrived in Gass City.

As Sasa was about to leave, Li Jiongming reminded her, "Oh, by the way, Sasa, summer vacation is approaching. Don't overwork yourself; you can take a break for a while."

Hearing this, Sasa realized that it was already June.

Time had flown by in just a few months.

Sasa pursed her lips, "Professor, have you forgotten? I haven't had any family for a long time."

Li Jiongming was taken aback and then shook his head with a bitter smile, "I'm sorry. I shouldn't have brought up this topic..."

"It's okay. I've found a career I can dedicate a lifetime to, with the company of work and good friends. It's fine even without family!" Sasa grinned, waved goodbye to Li Jiongming, and left the office.

That's what she said, but thinking about the upcoming summer vacation with no home to return to left Sasa feeling a bit lost.

... Oh well, might as well continue with research!

Put aside thoughts of the summer vacation and keep busy to avoid dwelling on such matters!

Encouraging herself, Sasa left the administrative building of the new campus with her head held high, boarded a hoverboard, and sped towards the dormitory building.

Two days passed quickly, and Sasa first met up with Helena, looking at the increasingly large convoy, and couldn't help but sigh, "The goods we're bringing to the Elf World are getting more and more."

Helena, with a cigarette in her mouth and her hand on the steering wheel, laughed upon hearing Sasa's words, "After all, we only need to see how much the Elf World can take. They haven't reached the production limits of Lingquan City yet."

The air filtration system in the armored vehicle enclosed the driver's seat, preventing the smell of smoke from reaching Sasa's side.

Sasa laughed along, "But this is only temporary. Wu Zechuan and I plan to support the industrial development of Gass City. Even if they can't develop into an industrial civilization, they can still increase productivity and absorb more of our products."

Trade is a mutually beneficial endeavor. As long as nothing unexpected happens, the increasing frequency of trade with the Elves means more earnings.

The Red Rose Warband had now become the exclusive escort team for the convoy, no longer engaging in Abyss hunting.

After all, they could take a cut from the trade between Blue Star and the Elf World, earning more than they would from hunting in the Abyss.

Moreover, there were Demons in the Elf World, even more numerous than in the Crimson Abyss.

While escorting the convoy, they could also hunt demons for extra income, wasn't that nice?

Helena still didn't quite understand why Sasa and Wu Zechuan wanted to support the industrial development of the Elves, as she hadn't been much into studying during her school years.

However, if both Sasa and Wu Zechuan, two smart individuals, had made such a choice, it had to be beneficial for them.

Since that was the case, she had no reason to oppose it.

"Let's move out!"

Shouting into the radio, Helena's armored vehicle started off as the lead of the convoy, heading towards the frosted-glass-like Abyss entrance.

The trucks and other armored vehicles followed, entering the Crimson Abyss en route to the designated location.

When they reached the designated location, Sasa opened the space tunnel, allowing the convoy to drive through it.

Unexpectedly, just after passing through the space tunnel, they encountered a City-breaking Level Demon.

"Damn it, looking for trouble, huh?"

Helena slapped the steering wheel and immediately called her team members to deal with the City-breaking Level Demon.

As a professional warband, even without Helena, the rest of the team had the ability to hunt a City-breaking Level Demon.

After all, the demons here in the Elf World didn't have deflection shields for protection, so heavy firepower could directly damage their bodies. The Hunters didn't even need to use Engraving; they could kill a City-breaking Level Demon with just their existing weapons, though it would consume a lot of ammunition.

The Hunters driving the armored vehicles cheered, broke away from the convoy, and rushed towards the City-breaking Level Demon, using kite tactics and attacking the creature from multiple directions. The combined use of Engraving and heavy firepower easily bled the demon to death.

Helena proudly huffed, "Did you see that? That's the strength of our Red Rose Warband! Don't let our warband's name fool you; we're quite formidable!"

Sasa gave Helena a sidelong glance, thinking: So, you do know your warband's name sounds a bit silly!

Currently, the strongest warband under Crimson No.2 wasn't the Red Rose Warband but the Wolf Pack Warband. The Red Rose Warband had only two Sequence Three members, including Helena, while the Wolf Pack Warband had four, and their leader had six Engravings, one more than Helena.

This time, the convoy included not just people from the Pension Association and Bao Han Company, but also some merchants of Crimson No.2, who had some complaints about the Red Rose Warband serving as convoy escorts.

Now that the Red Rose Warband had demonstrated their capability, it was enough to convince those merchants.

The convoy then safely arrived at Gass City.

Upon arriving in Gass City, Sasa contacted Mirel, Julia's father.

Recently, Julia's father had been taking a break; he couldn't spend the entire year delivering messages between Elf Cities.

Moreover, during Sasa's last visit, she had promised him that potentially she'd bring a truck for him next time. So he had started his holiday.

This time, the human caravan indeed brought a vehicle for him.

Upon seeing the heavily armored, high-ground clearance truck, Mirel's eyes lit up.

He needed such an off-road beast for delivering messages between cities.

Mirel patted the tire, which reached his waist, and laughed heartily, "This vehicle can't be cheap, right?"

Sasa shook her head, remembering Wu Zechuan's instructions.

"This vehicle, in our human world, is considered a 'special vehicle' and has specific manufacturers and a fixed customer base. The price, while a bit expensive, should be within your acceptable range."

Listening to Sasa, Mirel turned his attention back to the truck, growing more satisfied with each look.

However, in truth, there was still a bit of worry in his heart.

Elves couldn't produce such tools, but humans could manufacture them in large quantities. The goods they brought also seemed identical.

Humans were overwhelmingly strong, so much so that it was somewhat disheartening to the Elves.

Yet, this wasn't entirely a bad thing!

Let the Elves feel the gap, disperse the illusion of peace and safety, so this generation of Elves may live longer than the last.
