Absolute In/Existence

Chapter 77: Myriad Professions Book

Looking at Heaven making the Fasting Pill, Jae-Hwa watched in awe as the pill transcended its own grade. It's efficacy was probably of higher levels now.

At that point, even Jae-Hwa was stunned by Heaven's capabilities and skills.

'If his alchemy skills can reach such a comprehensive level, what about other professions?'

Heaven's current attainment in alchemy was more of a spiritual level than in actual technique. It's what he can understand about alchemy itself and the philosophy behind it. If one were to explain it, it would be like understanding and knowing how to program a computer compared to the technical side that's about building and using the computer.

Looking at Heaven curiously, Jae-Hwa grumbled for a second before waving her hand. A book appeared in her slender hands, titled 'Myriad Professions'.

It had every type of profession that existed between the mortals and immortals. From raising animals and farming to creating artifacts and becoming a formation master.

In the book, each profession had a detailed description to them. None had a technique or example to follow along with them. At best, it was like a dictionary.

Tossing the book to Heaven's side, Jae-Hwa began making her way out.

"What's this for?" Heaven placed down the pills in his hand and curiously looked at the book.

"A book of professions. Something to keep you busy."

Jae-Hwa didn't bother telling Heaven her true intentions. Even if he couldn't gleam into the professions, it was enough for him to know about them. If he had an interest in any of these fields, she wouldn't mind heading out to find techniques for him.

Looking at Heaven closer, she knew that teaching him body strengthening or cultivation wasn't necessary. With his wisdom, he was bound to grow differently and stronger than others.

"Professions…" Heaven gave the book a deep look after waving to the departing Jae-Hwa.

Flipping open the book, Heaven began to read.

Storyteller

Woodcutter

Farmer

He saw a bunch of professions within the book. Especially those regarding immortals.

Puppet Master

Beast Tamer

Ghost Master

Talisman Master

Alchemist

Inscription

Enchanting…

Many more professions he had never really heard of before. There were even some more combat oriented ones like Mage, Sorcerer, Exorcist… as well as some obscure ones like Path-Finder, Path-Creator, and Technique Creator.

Still, all of these intrigued Heaven.

Their philosophies and descriptions opened Heaven to a new world. Had he been limiting himself this entire time? Ever since finding out about the existence of mystical energy like Qi, why was he limiting himself to what he knew?

Why was his scholarly mind not working? If he can't get his hands on these techniques, why can't he just create them on his own? Pioneer his own path!

Smiling, Heaven continued reading "Myriad Professions", an aura of wisdom spreading out of his body as he began developing his own thoughts and deepening his comprehension.

"I see…"

Heaven would occasionally mumble every now and then, his golden eyes swirling about.

With the book in one hand, Heaven moved about. Splitting his thoughts as he began to multitask effortlessly. Reading and easily taking care of the unconscious Cai Ling.

He took care of her gently, providing some massage and even some acupuncture. All to help her recuperate faster. Since she lost so much energy, it will take a couple of days before she will wake up.

Weeks passed by in the blink of an eye.

Aside from caring for Cai Ling who had woken up and helping her recuperate, Heaven had spent his time lost in thought as he did his usual routine of training and practice.

He had long finished memorizing the book and was now simply deepening his knowledge and comprehension by spending time theorizing. He didn't have the resources to practice and put his theories to the test, but he was fairly confident in his own capabilities.

Heaven comprehended as much as he could of the mortal professions as much as the immortal professions.

After all, there was no real clear distinction between both mortal and immortal professions. It had been simply separated like so because mortal professions are professions that even mortals can do, whilst immortal professions can't be practiced by mortals.

Mortal professions can transcend and change, entering an immortal range.

Right now, after six weeks of comprehending, Heaven's hands began to grow itchy.

With a small knife in hand, Heaven was holding a small piece of wood in hand. He didn't have Qi like he needed, and neither was he aware of his wisdom aura to use it.

Instead, he mobilized his inner force. The mysterious powers it carried was used by Heaven as he expertly moved it through his body and onto the blade of the carving knife.

Cutting into the wood, Heaven could sense the inner force that he used to remain on the wood.

Crack!

Suddenly, the wood cracked.

"The flow of inner force wasn't stable…" muttered Heaven as he grabbed another piece of wood. He made sure his flow of inner force was stable and his movements were fluid.

Crack!

"I cut too deep just now…" Heaven frowned.

As he continued to carve into the piece of wood, Heaven began smiling. He could feel himself going on the correct path.

Every time he begins carving into the piece of wood, he could feel the air around him move and head to the piece of wood.

Yet, as he carves into the piece of wood, he's also realized that he has to remain completely focused. If his thoughts deviate even a little, then the piece of wood would also crack. Aside from the thoughts, he also needed to focus on an image.

What he was practicing was engraving. It wasn't particularly an immortal profession, instead, it was a lower form of Inscription.

A Master Inscribe has the ability to cast effects on anything through writing on them. An inscribe needs to use their Qi or special ink to write on a surface and create effects.

However, with no Qi or special ink, Heaven could only use his inner force. Yet when he tried to use his brush and normal ink with his inner force, it would simply dissipate. He turned to carving, which surprisingly didn't let his inner force dissipate.

The strength of the effects depended on the comprehension of not just inscribing and the amount of energy used in the process. If he wanted to place more than one effect on an item or make the effect more efficient, he would need to be extremely deft with his hands, more skilled in inscribing.

Practicing the engraving for the rest of the day, Heaven finally engraved a piece of wood without it cracking.

The instant the carving blade left the piece of wood, Heaven felt the piece of wood grow heavier. The weight of the piece of wood increased by five times by only using one unit of inner force.

Focusing, Heaven felt the inner force within the piece of wood constantly flowing. It produced a mystical force that originated from the 'image' and the effect it was imbued with.

Smiling, Heaven knew that his work was paying off.

Crack!

Breaking the piece of wood, Heaven began practicing with other effects.

Practicing, Heaven spent more days doing so.

Gathering more effects and even improving his own engraving skills. Heaven reached a point where he knew what he could do to improve and leave this world.

'Right… space!'

Heaven's golden eyes rolled and he brought out his carving knife before heading to the well. It was large and hidden enough that Heaven could covertly hide it from the eyes of the people around him.

Carving on the wooden structure of the well, Heaven wrote space on the well. Gate, link, lock, etc… he wrote many words. Each on a separate piece of the well and not forgetting to link each effect to each other.

With his strong comprehension, Heaven was very confident in being able to connect to his hero world.

Click!

With the last cut of the carving knife into the well, the wind around him surged and moved the water within the well. Ripples spread across the water and Heaven's eyes lit up.

He could feel the inner force within the well roll and circulate with terrifying stability and power.

Although he has no idea how strong or stable Qi is, Heaven was sure that inner force was much better. It's strength might be weaker than Qi, but it's stability and might is on another level.

It's like comparing a mountain (inner force) to a weapon (Qi). Of course, this wasn't a very accurate comparison.

Approaching the well, Heaven looked into the water. He saw nothing special, but as he pulled out a piece of wood, the water began to change.

It swirled and changed as he thought of home, soon, Heaven saw a familiar sight.

His eyes lit up and he looked at Akira, his mother. She was sitting in the kitchen, drinking her coffee and watching television like usual. The portal had formed on the ceiling, and it allowed Heaven to look right at her from above.

"Mom…" Heaven muttered as he looked at her.

He reached out, his hand heading straight to the image.

Thud!

His hand met a barrier, stopping him from passing his hand through the space portal.

Heaven wasn't disappointed however. He had completely expected this already. He had been marked already by Paradise and that prevented him from leaving.

Luckily, he was prepared.

He pulled out a piece of paper from his pocket and tossed it into the well. He watched as it fell through the portal and landed on the table.

Akira jumped a little in surprise.

Her eyes looked at the rolled up paper and curiously opened it. Seeing the words on the scroll, her body shook!

Akira's eyes moistened as she realized that it was Heaven sending her the message.

"I'll wait for you, Sora," muttered Akira as she looked around, wondering where the scroll came from. Her eyes looked left and right, she even looked under the table and up at the ceiling.

Still, she found nothing and simply smiled.

Looking at her smiling face, Heaven crushed the piece of wood in his hand and the portal disappeared. He crouched down and added more engraved inscriptions onto the well.

Smiling, Heaven began working on another project. Without being able to cross through the portal, he had to think of other ways to leave Paradise.

"Zhu! Bring me more wood!"

Heaven suddenly called out as he held a piece of wood in his hand. It was already cut and sanded down into a desired form. Now, he was simply engraving a couple inscriptions onto the piece.

As he engraved the small piece of wood that seemed to connect to something, a small, but larger than before, tiger cub appeared. It walked confidently and with elegance.

It tugged on a piece of rope that it was holding with its mouth. At the end of the rope was a small shed with many pieces of wood of varying sizes.

Heaven smiled when he saw the tiger cub after he finished engraving the last inscription on the piece of wood.

He set the wood aside and caressed the cub before continuing with his work.

"Hahaha! Soon, we will arrive at Yin Desires!"

An old man called as he sat inside a bloody carriage. The smirk on his face was wide despite the tiring weeks of travel. Knowing that he will find out the secret to breaking through, just made him happier by the minute.

Even if there was no secret, with his Absorption Technique, he will be able to break through if he takes Jang Jae-Hwa's cultivation.

Outside of the carriage was only a small number of people from the Crimson Blood Sect. Aside from the old man who's the sect master and his son the Vice sect master, all five elders are also accompanying him.

They needed strong firepower to defeat Jae-Hwa and the elders of Yin Desire in one fell swoop. To catch them by surprise, the old man abandoned his last plan of attacking with all his disciples for a more covert and stealthy plan.

"Just five more days…" muttered the old man.

Outside of the carriage, a young man was smiling thoughtfully. His eyes were narrowed and he was already planning what to do when he received the Root Seizing Art.

"Hehe…"
