Chapter 12: The Gatekeepers (3)

"Don't ye have only two scrolls, one for yer katana and another for yer armor set?" Vargar asked upon hearing Blake's decision.

It was a valid question.

Blake smiled. "It seems the scrolls are used to permanently enchant weapons, armor, or anything else, really. My two enchanter skills temporarily buff or debuff, so I believe I can stack temporary enchantments on top of permanent ones. I'm eager to try it out."

Noting the excitement in his voice, Vargar chuckled.

Although Blake was nearing the third objective of his legendary quest, which was purely combat, his thirst for battle had been replaced by his newfound passion for crafting. This was the clearest proof that Blake had genuinely embraced this path.

"Furthermore, it's not as if blacksmiths can't produce identical items using the same skills. While ingenuity and creativity are important, mass-producing the same items is just as crucial—that's where blueprints come in. The better yer blueprint skills, the better yer mass production and the quality of yer weapons and armor," Vargar said.

Blake nodded. "Not everyone can wield the highest-quality weapons or wear the best armor. Cannon fodder is essential in large-scale battles or wars."

"Not to mention the expenses," Vargar added.

While discussing blacksmithing on a grand scale, they stayed deeply focused on their current task. Vargar sketched a simple blueprint for a sword to show Blake how to forge one and what was required, while Blake prepared the materials, tools, and furnace.

It took them less than an hour to forge the test sword.

The name and description revealed how imperfect—and how far from its true potential—the sword was. Yet its appearance and damage weren't that terrible. The double-edged sword looked like a well-forged weapon that could fetch a decent sum from a naïve or inexperienced player. Its peak damage was fairly impressive, so with a bit more investment, the longsword could be a solid choice.

Gripping the handle, Blake channeled the skill. Once again, he demonstrated his mastery of the game system; he didn't need to glance at the skill icon or click anything—he merely thought of The Endless Curse, and it activated.

'This is… good,' Blake thought.

In player-versus-player combat (PvP), even one second of stun could be enough to seal an opponent's fate. If not, one second was still a crucial window to deal significant damage. It was less useful against monsters, but still a great debuff overall.

Not only that, but Blake also learned that he could enchant items up to legendary grade, which amazed him. If he applied this skill to the scroll, he could permanently gain the legendary version of .

"My skills won't weaken my weapons or armor… at all," Blake said, eliciting a chuckle from Vargar, who had half-expected this result. After all, how could the Lost Kingdom's King weaken himself?

However, since he wasn't entirely sure, the old dwarf chose to remain silent on the matter.

Now that everything had been confirmed, Blake could proceed with enchanting his weapon and armor set. While enchanting his entire armor set was tricky—he only had one scroll for armor and might enchant just one piece—he could safely combine the scroll and his enchanting skill with his katana.

Gazing at the three skills he'd forged into his weapon, Blake decided to apply the buff enchantment to his katana. He unrolled the scroll on the workbench, retrieved his katana from his inventory, unsheathed it, and gently placed it across the white canvas.

Blake extended his hand over his two precious items and used his buff enchantment skill—Infinite Blessing (Legendary).

In less than a second, unknown letters began inscribing themselves on the scroll, ignoring the katana that lay across it. Each letter appeared as if Blake's enchantment skill had burned it into the white sheet. Some letters resembled Latin, others Greek, and still others seemed like hybrid symbols with shared meanings from multiple alphabets.

Once the writing was done, all the letters suddenly glowed with a crimson aura that enveloped the katana. This unique light then sank into the blade.
