A Witch's Legacy

Chapter 29: Chapter 29

RUN

All she could do was run…

As Seraiya breached the surface and pulled herself out of the ground the man who had taken her was nowhere to be seen.

RUN

It was all she could do. Covered in dirt and blood and unable to use her magic she was as helpless as a human. It was miracle enough she was able to tap into the little bit of wolf strength she had in order to escape what would have been her grave. After all, she still had another year before her first shift.

RUN

It was all she could do

To survive….

To live…

Run…

Run and hide…

Suddenly she tripped on the root of a tree causing her to go flying. She barely managed to crawl to a large nearby tree and hide behind it. Covering her mouth she tried to silence her breath as well as Her heartbeat but even she knew that wasn't possible.

"You can't hide forever girl" the man's voice echoed. "I can hear how loudly your heart beats," he said. "I can practically taste the fear you feel" he added.

Seraiya closed her eyes. And took a slow quiet deep breath. Opening her eyes She stared down at the cuffs that bound her magic. They looked almost exactly like the shackles she wore at the auction.

"There is no need to fear death young one," he told her. "It would be better for you instead of suffering from the wrath of the gods who wish you dead" he added. "You're wrong!" Seraiya yelled. A smile came across his face before he suddenly appeared in front of Seraiya.

Grabbing her by the neck and lifting her off the ground he shoved her against a tree. His face finally showed emotion. "Death is a blessing for you," he told her gripping tighter on her neck. "In this world you are worthless, you are nothing" he added. "If I let you live today for the rest of your life you would only suffer from the fate of the gods who wish your existence wiped from this world" he continued "Yet you claim death would not be better for you?" he questioned.

Without hesitation, Seraiya stabbed a dagger into the man's heart.

His eyes became wide as he fell to his knees, dropping Seraiya on the ground as she somehow managed to keep the dagger in his chest. "Where did you…" "if I have enough energy built up even magic restraints can't stop my power," she told him as she continued to hold the dagger in his heart. "It wasn't too hard to melt down the cuffs and reshape it into this dagger" she added.

"Don't worry though" she said as she looked into his eyes. "It won't kill you" she added, as his skin turned grey and his body became limp.

As Seraiya let go of the dagger, keeping it in his heart his body fell to the ground.

Her breaths were deep and slow as she just fell to her knees. Tears began to fall from her eyes as screams escaped from her. How much more would she be forced to endure? How many more would try to kill her and how many would she have to kill?

Sure this time she was able to stop herself… she was able to find another way… but next time? There will always be a next time.

"Seraiya" a voice called out to her. Seraiya slowly turned to see A large brown wolf behind her. "Aaron?" she questioned weak and confused. "How are you in my head?" she asked as Aaron in his wolf form walked over to her. "Thats for later," he said stopping in front of her.

"I'm sorry I'm late" he added, as he stared at Seraiya. She was covered in dirt and blood and he couldn't tell if it was her own or the vampires who lay next to her. "He not dead," she told him. "I tried to keep him alive" she added as Aaron continued to stare at her.

"You're safe now Seraiya you and Amani both are," he said as Seraiya suddenly jumped up and hugged him. Her cries were silent but he could feel his fur become wet from her tears.

He then lay down on the ground. "Cry as much as you like Seraiya," he told her. "I'll stay right here" he added.

"Seraiya," a woman said snapping her back to reality. "I can't help you if don't talk to me," a woman said sitting across from Seraiya.

Seraiya didn't say a word as she just stared at her therapist. "You can't help me," Seraiya said. "I was never even meant to exist," she told the woman. "I was a mistake created by the gods and now they do everything within their power to get rid of me" she added. "No one can help me," Seraiya said standing up. "Seraiya our session isn't over yet," the therapist said standing up as Seraiya walked to the door. "I think it is" Seraiya replied before leaving.

The therapist plopped back into the chair and pulled out a pen and her notepad. Patient Seraiya Mason refuses any help offered with the belief that no one can help her. The therapist began to write. She is a strong-willed individual who has much trauma hidden within her. The therapist continued to write. Though slight there has been progress, as this is the first session that Seraiya has finally spoken to me instead of just staring at me. It is known information from those around her, those that suggested she begin therapy that she had been kidnapped and almost sold at a supernatural slave auction in Russia. I once believed this was where her trauma began but now I wonder what else may have happened before that. What makes this young girl believe that she was a mistake created by the gods? And what sort of past does she refuse to talk about? It makes me wonder who this young girl, who Seraiya Mason will become. The therapist wrote.
