A Werewolf In Under-Town

Vlad felt that his Blood Bat ability was coming to an end and stood up from his chair. For the past several minutes, the heroes had feebly battled his horde of bats. They were covered in blood and battered by the little red bat's attacks. The Warrior had made it out somewhat okay, but the Speedster and Shooter looked utterly exhausted. Vlad aimed for the speedster first as the last of the Blood Bats burst.

He had to fight his natural instinct to speak up. Normally, he'd try to give a speech to the would-be heroes. Really play up his vampiric nature. But not only were these three NPCs, which took the fun out of it, it also had been a rough night. He'd had to kill Smitty, his entrance was ruined, he missed out on a Thrall, and another opportunity for a speech. Vlad was done. His people were away, he got his money, and now he just wanted to evade the police and get back.

Eyeing up the Speedster, Vlad used his own enhanced speed to charge. The world slowed to a crawl as the blue Speedster turned to look at him. Vlad had been in a few Speedster fights already and they played out just like any other. Except that the rest of the world slowed down. But with his opponent exhausted, Vlad expected a quick victory.

He slashed at the Speedster's face with his sharp nails but missed as the man backed away hurriedly. He rushed over to the far side of the room to get away, but Vlad gave chase. Streams of blue and black-colored lines came off them both as they moved about the room. Vlad kept on the attack, as the Speedster seemed to be looking for room to catch his breath. Vlad launched himself over a desk and picked up the office chair behind it. As the Speedster ran to the other side of the room, Vlad threw the chair like a missile.

The chair blurred through the air and just missed the Warrior Woman as she was looking about the room. She was still in slow motion, but she was moving faster than the woman with the guns. Vlad made note of that as he watched his chair miss the Speedster as well. He hissed in anger as he bolted after the guy again.

"Stay put, damn it!"

The Speedster grinned before he rushed away from Vlad again. He looked exhausted, and Vlad could smell the sweat off the man's skin. But he was still quick enough to be annoying. Growing tired of the chase, Vlad turned to the two other heroes. With a growl of rage, he rushed past the female with the guns and slashed his nails through her throat. He felt warm blood coat his fingers as the Speedster gave a cry of anguish.

"NO!"

A blue blur of speed rushed Vlad, but he dodged the blurry fist aimed at his face. Straightening up again, Vlad finally got his hands on the Speedster. He gripped the man by the jaw as multiple punches landed on Vlad's body. They were surprisingly powerful, but Vlad quickly yanked the man's jaw to the side and pulled with all his might. A loud snap echoed in the lobby and Vlad let the Speedster fall to the ground dead. He tossed the broken jaw he'd ripped off the Speedster's face onto his corpse and looked up in time to see the Warrior's warhammer coming right for him. He was about to scoff in derision until he realized the hammer was moving as fast as he was and glowing.

Vlad barely had enough time to get his arms up in front of his chest before the hammer slammed into him. Both of his forearms broke, and Vlad felt himself get lifted off the ground. The next thing he felt was his back hitting the front wall of the bank. He crashed through it and flew out into the darkened streets.

His arms stitched themselves together as Vlad skidded to a stop in the street. Police lights and sirens were everywhere. He even heard the sounds of drones in the air. Of course, they were quickly drowned out as dozens of cops starting screaming at him to surrender. Vlad winced as his back healed from its impromptu flight through the wall. Looking at the exit hole he made, Vlad spotted the Warrior Woman standing there. Her entire body glowing red.

Vlad pulled himself to his feet and scowled at the dozens of cops cars surrounding the entrance to the bank. There were even shooters on every roof he looked at. Getting away was going to be a bitch. Vlad sighed loudly which seemed to enrage the glowing Warrior even more. She charged him, moving even faster than she had the first time.

Her glowing warhammer whizzed through the air, leaving streaks of blurry red lines. But Vlad was ready this time, and he ducked under the wide swing. Darting forward, he jabbed his nails into the woman's stomach and sides. Little pinpricks of blood came away from her skin. But the woman merely roared and the glow around her seemed to deepen. A thought flashed through Vlad's head as the woman drew her hammer back for another swing, moving even faster now.

"Fucking Berserker."

He dashed around the wide hammer swing again as a flash of light captured his attention. The cops were firing on them. He could see little blue energy bolts heading their way. But they were still moving at super speed. Vlad dashed in again, this time aiming for the woman's face. But she used her wrist to block his nails and grew even more enraged from the pain. With her other hand still on the hammer's shaft, she swung it toward him, and Vlad had to jump to get out of the way.

As soon as his feet hit the ground, the warrior was on him again though. She punched out with her free hand, catching him in the face. Vlad felt his cheekbone shatter and let the blow carry him away from the raging terror. She was becoming faster and stronger every time he hit her. Vlad felt his body hit the hood of a car and he flipped over it before collapsing on his face. The cops were still shouting for him to surrender, but Vlad ignored them as he heard the Berserker coming.

She stomped the street like a charging bull and then rushed the car he was laying behind. Vlad rolled away as the woman hit the car with her shoulder and flipped it away like a toy. The car hit three police officers before it slammed into a nearby building. The police chatter all around them stepped up a notch as the cops realized the woman was just as much of a threat. Vlad used the moment to rush down an alley and use the shadows to try to disappear.

The woman gave chase, roaring like a demon and shoving anything and anyone that got in her way. A few of the cops and drones followed him as well, and Vlad felt his undead heart beat like a drum. For the first time tonight, he was excited. Being pursued by an angry do-gooder and the locals was just what would happen to an out-of-control vampire like him. A smile came to his face even as the Berserker woman turned into the alley and immediately spotted him. Vlad gripped the side of a large metal dumpster and threw it.

The dumpster flew through the air and caught the woman straight in her face. But the metal split around her like tissue paper and she roared at him again. The two halves of the dumpster hit the alley floor as the woman charged again. Vlad noted with interest that she was slightly slower now. So instead of dashing in after her attack, he threw himself backward, further into the dark. The drones and the Berserker gave chase as Vlad ran away. As he moved, he grabbed anything that looked heavy enough and tossed them at the drones. He missed more than he hit, but he hit a few before he ran out of shit to throw.

Vlad rushed out into the next street over and quickly looked around. There were a few more alley ways that he could duck into across the street. But, even better, he spotted a manhole cover a little way up the street. The roar of the Berserker brought him around to the woman who was still chasing him. The red glow around her was fading, and Vlad could see and smell how tired she was. With a smile still tugging at the ends of his lips, Vlad rushed toward the manhole cover and ripped it out of the ground. With a casual toss, Vlad got rid of another drone before he leapt down into the sewers.

He heard the roar of his pursuer as his feet hit the drainage water and he clambered up onto a wall. His nails and enhanced strength held him in place as he waited in the dark. The Berserker soon jumped in after him, the red glow around her flickering now. She splashed in the sewer water, looking around in the dark. The faint glow of her aura lit up some of the tunnel, but she clearly couldn't see well. The buzzing of drones heralded their immediate arrival. So Vlad waited until his prey's back was turned before launching himself off the wall and onto her back.

He wrapped his arms around her broad shoulders before he snapped his head forward and plunged his fangs into her throat.

"ARGHHHHHH!" The Berserker cried as Vlad bit down hard.

Her aura flickered even harder, but Vlad only had eyes for his Evolution Point total.

The longer Vlad held on, the stronger the Berserker became, which meant that her blood was worth more points. He kept gulping down her blood even as the drone's light passed over them. The drones were slowly descending into the sewers as the Berserker tried to break free. Vlad held on even as he felt the woman grow stronger and stronger. The red glow was solid now, and she was almost successful at prying him free a few times. But Vlad kept drinking, and soon the red aura faded again. The Berserker's struggles dwindled, and it got easier to rein her in. Vlad casually reached down and grabbed the woman's warhammer, tossing it at the incoming drones. With the sewer entrance so narrow, the few drones had nowhere to flee, so the heavy metal weapon crashed through them.

Vlad felt the woman grow cold as he continued to drink her dry before tossing her cold body onto the sewer floor. He wiped his lips free of blood as he listened to the cops above him. They were getting ready to charge in, guns blazing. With Vlad topped off, he could have easily handled them. But they weren't worth it. With a final glance at the lifeless Berserker, Vlad smirked before disappearing into the dark sewer system. The sounds of shouting cops echoed behind him.
