Chapter 56
“Phew… we’re finally done,” we both exclaimed as we lay on the floor of the finished house.
While Rud had put in effort to cut down the trees, we soon realized that doing it ourselves would have been much faster. As I chopped the wood and dried it, I simultaneously used magic to assemble the house based on the pre-made blueprints.
“Jin… how much time has passed?” Rud asked.
“Roughly seven hours,” I replied.
Looking back, it had taken this long mainly because we were both beginners at construction. In this world, professionals could finish building a house in just a couple of hours.
“Alright… let’s go meet up with Mea and the others,” I suggested.
We teleported to join Mea and the rest.
“Welcome back, Jin-sama, Rud-sama,” Mea greeted us.
“Ah, welcome back, Jin-kun, Rud,” Sasha added.
“Yeah, welcome back,” Rud and I replied.
We were met with words of appreciation as we entered the room. Mea and Sasha were sitting comfortably, sipping tea and enjoying snacks. Sasha had a cheerful smile as she indulged in the sweets, her cheeks puffed slightly like a hamster.
With Sasha around, Mea seemed to revert to her usual formal way of speaking.
“Now… I’d love to keep indulging in these snacks, but Rud is back, and it’s time for us to leave,” Sasha said.
“Goodbye… Jin… Mea-san…” Rud added as Sasha carried him away.
Once it was just the two of us again, we turned our attention to the next task.
“All right, let’s start moving all the stuff we bought into the house,” I suggested.
“Yeah, we bought quite a bit, so it might take a while,” Mea replied.
From the looks of it, there didn’t appear to be any luggage, but it was likely stored using some form of spatial magic. I was curious to see what items she had purchased.
“All right, let’s get going,” I said.
“I’m looking forward to it,” Mea replied.
“Don’t be so surprised when you see it, okay?” I teased as we teleported back to our new home.
“…”
“Come on, Mea, at least react to something,” I said as I tried to engage Mea in conversation, but she remained frozen in place, her eyes wide open.
“Mea!” I called out.
“Ah! …Let’s go inside,” Mea replied, blushing slightly as she quickly made her way into the house.
I followed behind her, feeling warm all over as I watched her reaction.
“Inside, it’s amazing. Just the right size for the two of us,” Mea said.
“Indeed. It shouldn’t be too large; otherwise, it would be hard to manage. Let’s start organising,” I suggested.
“Right. [Item Box]” Mea muttered a spell, and items began appearing from a spatial void. Furniture, dishes, and even a bathtub were among the numerous things that materialized. I couldn’t help but wonder how much all of this had cost.
I decided to keep myself busy by immediately starting to arrange things. I used magic to levitate items and followed Mea’s instructions on where to place them. It required delicate control of magic, but compared to building the house earlier, it was much easier. In just a short time, we finished organizing, and both of us collapsed onto the sofa, exhausted but satisfied with our efforts.
“Today has been tiring…”
“It’s not much different from my usual activities, so it’s not that bad,” Mea replied.
Mea’s gentle touch as she placed my head on her lap and stroked my hair was incredibly soothing.
I could stay like this forever. To be honest, I really don’t want to get involved in any more story-related adventures. But, until I graduate and acquire adventurer qualifications to sustain our life, I have no choice.
As I contemplated our future, Mea suddenly used her fingertip to gently stroke my cheek, breaking my train of thought.
She then chuckled and said, “Relaxed Jin is cute.”
“Stop rubbing my cheek like that. It’s ticklish.”
“Hehe… no.”
Ignoring my request to stop, she wore a mischievous smile. Feeling tired and not particularly opposed to her actions, I closed my eyes and relaxed.
Oh, right… I should visit Mea’s parents to introduce myself… I slowly drifted to sleep as I thought about it.
