A Saiyan's Journey

Chapter 144: The Test Subject, Gilgamesh

Zuke brought immense pressure to Gilgamesh—a man who, despite his disdain for others, had confronted gods in mythology.

Although he harbored animosity toward those gods, Gilgamesh was fully aware of their overwhelming power.

Now, facing Zuke, Gilgamesh felt an even greater sense of oppression, one that instinctively made him want to flee.

However, Gilgamesh's pride as a king wouldn't allow him to retreat. In the end, he stood his ground, fixing his gaze solemnly on Zuke.

Meanwhile, Zuke remained motionless, appearing to conserve his strength. This made both Gilgamesh and Kotomine Kirei hesitate to act recklessly.

The next moment, Gilgamesh's expression changed drastically as a terrifying sense of danger surged within him.

Following his instincts, he leapt to the side in a somewhat desperate motion, narrowly avoiding the spot where he had been standing.

An invisible force then erased the space where Gilgamesh had stood, leaving behind a faint spherical void as if something had consumed it.

Had Gilgamesh not moved, his torso would have completely vanished, leaving only his limbs and head intact.

"That's… spatial erasure. This guy is devouring space!"

Unable to see the Stand, sweat dripped down Gilgamesh's temple. Moments earlier, he had almost been eliminated by Zuke before he could even react.

In the spot where he had been standing, the shadow of Blackbird was now clearly visible. Although it had moved in an instant to confront him, the activation of Void Miasma had given him just enough time to escape.

"So, even you could sense and evade Void Miasma, huh?"

Zuke frowned at this sight. A mere punch from Blackbird could have easily shattered Gilgamesh's head. Yet, Zuke had held back, wanting to test Void Miasma in combat.

After all, Void Miasma was a spatial ability, delivering pure true damage. If it could land on Frieza, it might inflict unexpected harm.

However, seeing Gilgamesh dodge Void Miasma in time made Zuke somewhat dissatisfied with the skill's activation delay.

Although Blackbird inherited Zuke's speed, leaving Gilgamesh unable to react, Void Miasma required a fraction of a second from activation to execution. A sufficiently fast reaction could allow someone to escape its effective range.

Even in JoJo's Bizarre Adventure Part 3, Polnareff, a mere human, managed to evade Void Miasma's direct damage multiple times, showing how significant its activation delay was.

Gilgamesh's power paled compared to Frieza's. If even Gilgamesh could evade Void Miasma, Frieza likely could as well.

"Damn you, you mongrel…"

Gilgamesh glared fiercely at Zuke. Being forced to dodge in such a humiliating manner filled him with murderous intent.

What enraged him even more was realizing that Zuke had deliberately refrained from killing him, treating him instead as a test subject.

This sense of being used as a mere lab rat insulted Gilgamesh to his core.

"Awesome! Berserker, finish him!"

Rin Tohsaka, held in Zuke's arms, was oblivious to the deeper intricacies. She cheered excitedly after witnessing Zuke's domination of Kotomine Kirei's Servant.

She hadn't yet realized that Gilgamesh was actually her father Tohsaka Tokiomi's Servant, stolen by Kotomine Kirei after Tokiomi's death.

Before Rin could say more, Kotomine Kirei moved.

Upon seeing Rin, Kotomine immediately deduced that Zuke was her Servant. Thus, his target was clear—he lunged at Rin with a Black Key aimed to kill.

Zuke's overwhelming power, to the point of toying with Gilgamesh, led Kotomine to believe his only chance of victory lay in eliminating Rin, the Master.

The spatial slash that had forced Gilgamesh to retreat must have been an ability with significant cooldowns, Kotomine reasoned. This was his opportunity to strike!

However, after taking only a few steps, a sharp pain pierced Kotomine's heart.

Looking up, he saw Zuke raising a finger toward him. A glow emanated from that finger, and the next moment, a beam of light pierced through his chest.

It was the Death Beam, the signature move of Frieza—an intense energy beam fired from the fingertip. In the original series, Vegeta met his end at this very technique.

For Kotomine Kirei to die to the same move as Vegeta was, in a way, fitting.

"Cough…"

His heart punctured, Kotomine staggered, coughing up blood before collapsing lifelessly to the ground.

Having briefly felt joy from Tohsaka Tokiomi's and Matou Kariya's deaths, Kotomine was unable to savor more before losing his own life so casually.

His death was inevitable; to Zuke, Kotomine Kirei had no value left.

Gilgamesh's Independent Action ability allowed him to survive briefly without a Master, enough time for Zuke's Blackbird to devour him.

Gilgamesh hardly spared Kotomine a glance, finding him amusing at most. Instead, Gilgamesh seized the opportunity to unleash his Noble Phantasm:

"Enkidu, Chains of Heaven!"

Golden ripples appeared in the void, from which countless chains emerged, binding Zuke tightly.

However, as the chains tightened, Gilgamesh's heart sank.

The chains' restraining power hadn't increased. Zuke… lacked divinity!

Gilgamesh had assumed that Zuke's immense power and the pressure exceeding that of gods meant he was connected to them. But now, it seemed he was mistaken.
