Chapter 5: Chapter 5: The stone of rebirth [1]
Essence, in general, is the backbone of power in this world. With essence, one can transcend normal human limits.
Those who awaken this essence are able to achieve impossible feats like flying, cracking a mountain open, or even controlling minds based on the type of essence awakened.
And Julius was thinking about that particular fact.
That there are different kinds of essences.
He gazed out of the window of his room, his brows furrowed as he contemplated his next moves.
'I can only leave this to probability. I just hope I awaken a magic essence type and not primal essence,' he thought, letting out a tired sigh.
He touched his stomach area, and the pain he felt was already gone.
'That elixir Ray gave me... nice,' he nodded.
It turned out that he had some internal injuries from the single punch he received from his half-brother today.
Apart from that, this was the first time the knight had spoken to him, even before he came to this world.
Once the royal knights are done protecting their chosen royal, they go back to watch from the shadows, only interfering if one is in danger.
For some reason, Julius couldn't help but think about the crazy phenomenon that had happened in the past few days.
He died and reincarnated... that's definitely not normal.
'The fact that I reincarnated into the novel makes it more confusing. How is what was a novel now reality? Or it could be that Earth still exists somewhere in the universe.' He shrugged, but then his brows furrowed.
'Something must have caused my reincarnation. Could it be one of those gods in the ascension tower?' He thought hard.
'Ah. Thrifter. I got an attribute from him too. But there's no such god like that in the novel.'
Everything wasn't falling into place.
Apart from the curse of eternal night plaguing the world, there was still the ascension tower in the human kingdom, where humans go to climb and transcend.
Every climber's goal is to become a god.
And at the back of it all were the gods who watched over the climbers. Most attributes within the tower had to come from a supporting god.
Although the tower isn't the main stage for the story, it's still a place with nearly infinite resources and treasures.
Julius turned around as he heard a knock on his door, and he went to sit on the bed.
"Who is it?" he asked, and a brown-haired maid came in.
Alexa looked at her master, Julius, with a smile as she brought a tray of food to his bed.
'Ah... I forgot I hadn't eaten for days.' It was only now that he was remembering this.
"Thank you." The words left his mouth, and he sat down on the bed.
Alexa seemed shocked as she watched him take the fork and spoon and begin eating.
He was served a rich dish of meat with various fruits on the side. A bottle of wine stood beside the plates for the prince too.
Julius began to tear into the meat and eat without a care in the world.
Alexa stood there, looking at him with an expression of shock and relief.
"Hm? What happened?" Julius asked as he looked up at her, and she couldn't help but smile wider.
"It's nothing, my prince. I was only shocked because, for the last few days, you rejected all the food brought to you," she said in a joyful tone.
Alexa was his personal maid, who had been taking care of him since birth. To be honest, Julius was really an idiot.
'Tsk, this useless prince will still make it hard for his guardian knight and personal maid, annoying the red-haired triplets and refusing to eat...'
In general, the former Julius was just a spoiled prince with no power who did whatever he wanted.
But now that he had become this prince, the time to finally rise had come.
Alexa left the room in satisfaction as Julius began to eat well.
Inside the room, Julius couldn't help but recall everything that had happened the previous day...
It's freaky, really.
'I don't believe in gods... but this is not Earth. No. I can't slack off for one bit. The world of *Asura's Rebirth* is cruel, and I won't be on the receiving end of it,' he thought, his expression stern as he drank the soup.
'Plus, there's also the world's end arc. With the way the story was going, the MC wouldn't even be able to stop the crawlers with all his divine powers.'
Before he got transmigrated, the novel *Asura's Rebirth* was about to be completed. It was at a point where all hope was lost; it was time for some kind of big plot twist to save the characters.
But he didn't get to see the ending. All he could do now was increase the world's survival probability.
...
The next day, the world was dark as usual. Crystal lights floated in the air all around the central city, lighting the place up.
In the skies, a woman flew towards a direction, only leaving a trail of red light as she sped past the shops.
The shopkeepers and passersby felt the intense wind blow past them, and they were all confused, looking around.
Margaret made her way towards the auction house at the edge of the central region.
After a while, she finally arrived and slowed down before landing on the ground.
Currently, she was dressed in a beautiful white gown with a slit on both sides going up to her waist. Beneath that were a pair of leggings that hugged her thighs, and the jewelry she wore made her even more stunning.
"Ah, look. The queen is here." A man by the side pointed at her, and he couldn't help but be shocked.
The others passing by couldn't help but notice her presence, and they all began to murmur.
"The queen hasn't attended for more than two years now."
"Perhaps there's something special she wants today."
The people entering were all nobles from various households, and the presence of the queen meant something valuable was going to be sold today, and they all looked forward to it.
