A Nun's Journey to Redemption

Chapter 16: The Deal of Exposure

The atmosphere in Vincent's office was unusually formal that morning. The usual haze of cigar smoke and casual chatter was replaced by sharp suits, polished shoes, and a palpable sense of professionalism. The director of a high-end advertising company, Mr. Ethan Brooks, had come with his team to discuss a lucrative proposal. Seated at Vincent's mahogany desk, Ethan exuded charm and confidence, flipping through his presentation folder with practiced ease.

Maria sat quietly to the side, her arms crossed, trying to appear indifferent but feeling uneasy. It wasn't every day she was part of Vincent's business meetings, but this one directly involved her, and she had insisted on being present.

Ethan leaned forward, placing a glossy brochure in front of Vincent. "This," he began, "is the next big campaign for our premium bikini line, 'Aphrodite Luxe.' We're targeting a very exclusive market, and the face of the campaign needs to embody boldness, beauty, and confidence. From what I've heard, Maria is exactly what we're looking for."

Vincent glanced at the brochure, the pictures of sleek, glamorous models catching his eye. "Fifteen thousand dollars for three days of shooting, you said?"

"Correct," Ethan replied smoothly. "That includes her time, the studio, and the licensing rights for the images. It's a win-win for everyone."

Vincent leaned back in his chair, a thoughtful look on his face. "Maria's a good fit, no doubt about that. But she's not a professional model. What makes you think she can pull this off?"

Ethan smiled. "Authenticity, Vincent. We're moving away from the polished, artificial look. Maria has a raw, natural appeal that our clients will connect with. Plus, we'll have top-tier stylists and photographers on set. She won't have to do anything but follow directions."

Vincent turned to Maria, raising an eyebrow. "Well, what do you think? Fifteen grand for three days isn't a bad deal."

Maria hesitated. The thought of being in a bikini, posing in front of cameras, made her stomach churn. But then she thought about the money—money that could help her escape this life eventually. "I'll do it," she said finally, her voice steady.

Ethan clapped his hands together. "Excellent! We'll schedule the shoot for next week. Maria, you'll receive the details via email. Trust me, you're going to shine."

Preparing for the Shoot

The week leading up to the photoshoot was a whirlwind. Maria spent hours at fittings, trying on countless bikinis that left her feeling exposed. The stylist, a flamboyant man named Lorenzo, assured her she looked stunning in every piece.

"You've got the body for this, darling," Lorenzo said, adjusting the straps of a shimmering gold bikini. "Own it. Confidence is key."

Maria nodded, trying to muster the confidence he spoke of. Deep down, she felt like a fraud. This wasn't her world, and no amount of pep talks could change that.

Vincent, ever the businessman, kept reminding her of the payday. "Just three days, Maria. Smile for the camera, look pretty, and walk away fifteen grand richer. You've done harder things."

The Photoshoot

The studio was bustling with activity when Maria arrived on the first day of the shoot. Bright lights, towering backdrops, and a team of professionals scurried around, adjusting equipment and perfecting details.

Maria's heart pounded as she stepped onto the set, wearing a sleek black bikini that hugged her curves. The photographer, a woman named Simone, greeted her warmly.

"Maria, you look amazing," Simone said. "We're going to start with some simple poses. Just relax and have fun with it."

The first few shots felt awkward. Maria's movements were stiff, her smile forced. But as the session progressed, she began to loosen up. Simone's encouragement and Lorenzo's flamboyant praise helped her find a rhythm.

"That's it, darling! Give me that smoldering look," Lorenzo called out. "You're a goddess!"

By the end of the first day, Maria was exhausted but proud. She had pushed through her insecurities and delivered.

An Unexpected Moment

During a break on the second day, Maria found herself alone with Ethan. He handed her a bottle of water and sat down beside her.

"You're doing great, Maria," he said, his tone genuine. "You're a natural."

"Thanks," she replied, sipping her water. "I wasn't sure I could do this."

Ethan smiled. "Well, you're proving everyone wrong. Keep it up."

There was something about Ethan's words that struck Maria. Unlike Vincent, who saw her as a commodity, Ethan seemed to see her as a person.

Wrapping Up

By the third day, Maria had grown more comfortable in front of the camera. The final shots were bold and artistic, featuring her in a red bikini against a dramatic sunset backdrop.

When the shoot ended, the crew erupted in applause. Lorenzo hugged her tightly, tears in his eyes. "You did it, darling! You were magnificent!"

Ethan approached her with a check. "Here's your payment, as promised. You've been incredible, Maria. If you ever want to model again, you know where to find me."

Maria thanked him, holding the check tightly. For the first time in a long time, she felt a sense of accomplishment. But as she walked out of the studio, she couldn't shake the feeling that this wasn't the life she wanted. It was a means to an end—a way to survive until she could find a way out.
