Chapter 3: Chapter 3: Fight Part 1
Three days after my training, I was given my first mission, which, according to Fetron, should improve my training and allow me to control my powers. Lara and I were on our way to a village to stop an already ongoing raid. We were told that some sailors had run out of food and were trying to loot the village, but something went wrong, and they began to turn the village upside down as if they were looking for something or someone. After receiving this information from the village scout, Fetron dispatched me and Lara to deal with the matter. I was still apprehensive and scared, wondering how I would deal with this dilemma. After all, it's only been three days since my training, and I don't know a single basic skill or technique; am I screwed? Then I looked at Lara's face; she seemed serene. She seems to have dealt with similar situations in the past. We reached the town, and all of a sudden a light lit in my pocket; it was the blue-purpled box that I had picked up during my city destruction; this was unusual since it had never illuminated before, and the way it was lighting suggested that it was calling out to someone in the village.
We arrived at the village of Cablezon, and the state of the village was terrifying. The streets were almost empty, with a few people running around because they were being chased, and we saw a fireball hitting a house in the village, causing a massive explosion that destroyed the other three houses next to it. Lara rushed to the area where the fireball came from and said she was going to stop it. While she began to run towards that structure, I noticed a man in a black cloak and a woman running while being pursued by one of the sailors. "We found her," the sailor said, alerting the others to his location so they could pursue them. I attempted to get a good look at the man in the cloak, but his face was obscured by a mask, and he held one arrow in one hand but no bow or crossbow in the other. At that point, I made the decision to obstruct the sailor's pursuit; I hurried over to them and leaped directly in front of them. I suddenly realized that the sailor had a sword, although he hadn't yet drawn it. When I saw the sailor and realized that I was the only person between him and the man and woman in front of him, my dread suddenly returned. However, I calmly told the man, "Go on, I'll hold this one back. Just keep me in mind when I'm gone". "Don't you dare die before I come back, Draitus," the man retorted. I glanced at the man whose speech sounded familiar, but before I could ask him how he knew my name, he grabbed the woman and fled. After that, I began to observe the sailor's habits .
I stared at the sailor with only one intention in mind, stop him from going after them but the way he was staring at me it almost felt like he can see the amount of fear that was in my heart. We looked at each for about 10 seconds with none of us saying anything, then he spoke.
Gexon: so you're just going to stand there boy? Are you not going to attack since you said that you're going to give them enough time to get away from me?
Draitus: honestly speaking I have no intention of fighting you but since you guys are causing such distress on this village I might have to fight you
Gexon: In that case…
He began punching, pulling up his knuckles. After avoiding the first three blows, I saw that he was getting faster. We were now simply utilizing our natural strength, so I was able to keep up with him and adjust to his speed. The fact that I had avoided getting hit thus far gave me hope that perhaps I could defend the residents of this community. I launched my first punch, but he grabbed it and hit me with one of his own, knocking me back a few paces. I was able to stand up, but when I looked forward, I saw that my lip was bleeding. I became aware of this man's strength at that point. I was afraid, but I had to keep him from seeing that, he hadn't even drawn his sword yet. So I raised my head high and started talking in a confident tone.
Draitus: Nice punch, I never catched your name stranger
Gexon: Gexon, second in command and the leader of the X-ship army
Draitus: X-ship army?
Gexon: Yes, we are a group of individuals chosen by the captain to fight battles and wars, in every city we have gone to we left no one alive, in every war that we have fought… we never lost and in every situation we always came out on top.
Draitus: I see…so you're the second in command? In that case does that mean if I manage to defeat you then your army will have no choice but surrender. That shouldn't be hard to do.
Gexon: Your more than welcome to give that a try.
We exchanged those remarks and went back to fighting. I managed to land a few punches and kicks while avoiding the most of his blows. His pace then began to grow once more. I was able to avoid his blow, but it struck a wall, causing the entire wall to collapse and fall apart. He punched me in the stomach while I was being destroyed, and I felt the closest bones break. My eyesight blurred as I spat blood out of my lips. As I hit the ground, I saw Gexon getting ready to kill me, and then I heard someone remark, "Well done." When I opened my eyes, Gexon was staring at the man wearing the mask as he took it off. There was another survivor behind that mask of my city, my best friend. Though I was still concerned that Vascronic may be dead, I finally sighed with relief that he wasn't. After all, he is currently battling Gexon, who was able to beat me in a series of punches. Before I could see how the struggle was going to end, I blacked out.
