Chapter 21: A Night of Triumph and Temptation
The boardroom buzzed with excitement. Alexander had spent the entire day analyzing the Japanese company's counter-offer. It was a bold move, a significant increase in their initial investment, and a testament to the potential they saw in the project.
Ethan, his face radiating with confidence, presented his analysis. "This is a game-changer, Mr. Hart," he declared, his voice firm. "They're clearly impressed by our technology and our vision. This is an opportunity we can't afford to miss."
Alexander, impressed by Ethan's insightful presentation, nodded in agreement. "I concur," he said, his voice authoritative. "This is a deal we need to pursue aggressively."
The meeting proceeded with a flurry of discussions.
As the meeting drew to a close, Alexander addressed everyone. "This is a challenging but exciting opportunity," he said. "I have no doubt that we will emerge victorious. To celebrate, I'd like to treat everyone to dinner at The Grand Lucullus after a successful contract negotiation."
The Grand Lucullus, a renowned restaurant known for its exquisite cuisine and exclusive clientele, was a fitting reward.
Later that evening, Alexander and Ethan dined at The Grand Lucullus.
As they savored a glass of fine wine, Alexander couldn't help but notice a young woman, elegantly dressed, making her way towards him. She introduced herself as Jessica, a promising young executive from a rival company.
Jessica was charming and intelligent, and she made no secret of her admiration for Alexander. She flirted openly, her gaze lingering on him with a predatory gleam.
"Mr. Hart," she purred, leaning closer, "I find your business acumen incredibly inspiring."
Alexander, uncomfortable with her advances, politely excused himself. "Thank you, Jessica," he said, his voice firm. "But I must attend to my colleague."
Jessica, her face falling, reluctantly stepped back.
Ethan, watching with a curious expression, raised an eyebrow. "She seems quite persistent," he remarked.
"Indeed," Alexander replied, his voice firm. "And quite unprofessional. I'll speak to HR about this tomorrow."
They continued their dinner, discussing the potential deal and the challenges ahead.
Later, as Alexander prepared to leave, he noticed Jessica lingering near the entrance. She approached him, her eyes filled with a determined glint. "Mr. Hart," she said, her voice seductive, "I'd love to celebrate your success with a drink. Perhaps at my apartment?"
Alexander felt a wave of irritation. "I appreciate the offer, Jessica," he said, his voice firm, "but I must decline. I am married."
Jessica, her face falling, reluctantly stepped aside. Alexander, feeling a sense of relief, quickly made his way out of the restaurant. He was looking forward to returning home to Lila, to sharing the news of their potential triumph.
