Volume 2 Chapter 37: Our Little Secret
Volume 2 Chapter 37: Our Little Secret
"You can start," Lionel stated, and Keith dashed towards him. He raised his sword into the air and attacked him in the front! But Lionel was unfazed as he blocked the strike.
Keith wasn't done as he continued to attack with an endless assault. He understood the difference between the two.
Lionel was in a different class than him. But that was the reason why he had to attack. He needed to be unpredictable and try to make an opening for himself.
But all of it was suppressed. Keith's attacks did nothing as they were blocked by Lionel.
Lionel decided to make a move.
"!" Keith realized it as he quickly raised his sword to block it. But when it made contact with Lionel's blow, it broke.
Keith was ready to get hit in the face.
It never did. That was because it was right in front of Keith's face.
"I lost." Keith sighed as he raised his hand.
Lionel smiled, "You did well. For a kid your age, you could beat anyone."
"Thank you so much!" Keith scratched his head. He was happy to hear that from him.
"Let me help you fix your form," Lionel stated.
"Okay." Keith nodded, and Lionel started to adjust his body, "Try swinging your sword now."
"Mmmhm." Keith swung his sword down. And it was a clean cut. It was much faster and sturdier.
"Better?"
"Mmhmm! Thank you so much, Grandpa!" Keith shouted. But then he realized the words that came from his mouth.
Lionel blinked a few times.
"Sorry for calling you that."
Lionel shook and patted Keith's head, "I prefer if you call me like that from now on."
"Really?"
"Mmhmm."
"That's great, Grandpa." He felt calling Lionel Grandfather was a little too formal for him. This was better. A small smile formed on Lionel's mouth as he heard it again.
With that happening, Camelia turned to Keith, "Keith, can you call me grandma as well?"
"Sure, Grandma." A smile bloomed on Camelia's face. She couldn't help but say,
"How can someone be this cute?"
"Ehe. Thank you." Keith scratched his head when he heard that.
"Let's practice some more, Keith." Lionel got another sword for him.
"Sure!" Keith nodded and started to practice more.
...
"Ngh."
"He's out like a light," Lionel stated as he looked at Keith. The three were now sitting on a bench.
Camelia chuckled, "Of course, after sparring with you for this long, it's not a surprise."
Keith and Lionel continued to face one another to the point that Keith used all of his strength. The two grandparents stared at him,
"He's a lot different from the others." "Indeed."
From their interactions with Keith, the two realized he was different from their other grandchildren. He was much more outspoken and cheerful than the rest. The others were formal, treating them like a noble.
"I like it when he calls me grandma." Camelia smiled. When Keith called her that, her heart was happy.
They were family.
It made them feel close.
"Me too." Lionel nodded.
"Ngh." Keith slowly opened his eyes, "Grandma?"
"Sleep a bit more." Camelia patted Keith's head, and Keith followed her words. He closed his eyes again. Camelia and Lionel looked at him warmly,
He was too cute.
...
Keith woke up after a few minutes. His eyes were bright and full of energy. He decided, "Grandma, we can start kneading the dough again!"
"Mmhmm." Camelia nodded. Keith had taken the dough out. Camelia chuckled,
"It's so big now."
"Mmhmm. We need to knead it and put it in the oven." Keith smiled. He sliced the dough into three sections. After that, he taught Camelia how to knead the bread.
"And now, we need to wait." After Keith placed it into the oven, he smiled. Camelia clapped her hands together,
"That's great. I'm dying to taste it."
"It will be delicious! Also, Grandma. I want to make something that will go well with the bread."
"Let's make it together!" Keith pumped his fist. The two entered the kitchen.
Keith placed a pot on the stove. He poured some milk into it.
Condensed milk.
That was what Keith planned to make. It was a great match with the milk loaf!
And it was simple to make! Keith needed to simmer milk and sugar together until the mixture thickened up. Camelia and Lionel watched as Keith worked on it.
Slowly, the mixture thickened up.
Keith dipped two spoons into the condensed milk, "Grandma, Granpa, please taste it."
The two took the spoon and licked it.
"It's good!"
"Indeed."
"And our bread seemed to be done as well." Camelia and Lionel could smell the scent of fresh bread.
"Grandpa, can you get it out?" Keith handed two sticks to him.
"Sure." Lionel took some sticks and took out the bread from the oven. Keith opened the cover to see a milk loaf. Camelia and Lionel looked excited.
"Let's eat this."
"Are you sure?" "Should we wait for the others?"
"It's okay. And besides, it will be our little secret." It was a rule for a chef to have a taste test of their food.
Lionel and Camelia laughed. They nodded, "It will be our little secret."
Lionel grabbed the loaf and pulled a piece off. He was surprised,
"I never had bread like this." As Keith said before, it was airy and light.
"Bread could be so tasty?" Camelia was in disbelief.
"Grandma, Grandpa, add some condensed milk to it. It will be tastier." Keith smiled as he drizzled some onto his milk bread. Camelia and Lionel did the same.
And it was perfect. It made the bread sweeter.
"This is perfect." "I want to eat this every day." Camelia and Lionel stated.
"I'm going to be making more now." Once the bread was finished, Keith rolled up his sleeves. He was going to make more delicious foods.
