Volume 2 Chapter 31: You Lost
Volume 2 Chapter 31: You Lost
"Big Brother, you win." Keith raised his hand into the air in defeat. He lost the battle.
"I almost lost as well." Derek smiled. It was a long spar. Neither side wanted to lose.
"That was incredible!" Ryan couldn't help but compliment them. He never expected the two to be able to fight like that. And they were young!
They could only go up from here!
"Thank you, Mr. Ryan." The two bowed their heads.
Ryan smiled, "There's no need to thank me. I can tell you guys worked really hard."
He could tell the two worked their butts off to get to this point.
"Everyone is here early!" Sarah and Jack walked towards Keith and the rest. The two had gear on as well.
"You guys should go warm up!" Ryan frowned as he stared at his children.
"Yes." "Mmhmm."
The two of them started to run. While they were doing that, Ryan turned to William,
"William, I have a favor to ask you."
"Hmm?"
"Can you have Keith spar with Jack?"
...
"The spar will last for five minutes! Get to your position." Michael screamed out. Keith and Jack stood across from one another.
"Keith! Good luck!" Sarah and Derek screamed out from the side. Keith smiled at them.
Thanks. But Sarah, shouldn't you be cheering your brother on? This was not part of the script.
Jack stared at Keith, "I'll say this right now. You should quit."
"Hmm?" Keith tilted his head.
"I'm going to win."
"..." So that was why he asked me to do this. Keith understood the reason now.
A few minutes prior,
"You want me to spar with Jack?" Keith tilted his head.
Ryan nodded, "I want you to beat him up."
"Why?" Shouldn't it be the opposite? Should you tell me to not do so or hold back?
"You see. My son hasn't been taking his training too seriously. And that's because he had beaten everyone in his age group. He thinks he's the most talented person in the world. I want you to beat him. Show him the world." Ryan explained.
"..." Are you serious?
Keith was surprised that Jack would think like that. He thought Ryan was joking.
...
He's right. Keith couldn't believe this guy would be this confident. He sighed as he raised his sword into the air. Jack did the same.
"Start!" Michael roared out. And like that, Jack made the first move as he dashed towards Keith!
"Take this!" Jack slashed his sword downwards!
Shing!
But Keith blocked it with his sword. He used one hand to do it as well! Jack's expression turned blank when this happened.
"Then take this!" Keith quickly blocked the blow again! Keith continued to block the blows like they were nothing.
It was a surprise to see that.
Keith wasn't doing anything. He stood there and took Jack's blow. William and the rest watched the situation,
"Keith should end it. It's getting boring." Derek shook his head.
Sarah tilted her head, "Isn't Keith on the losing end?" From how she saw it, Keith was only defending against Jack's attacks.
"No, Sarah. Keith isn't on the defensive. He's not even trying." William stated.
"Figures. A person of his caliber won't make the kid take it seriously." Michael stated with a calm expression.
"?"
Ryan explained to his daughter, "Sarah, look at what Keith is doing? He's precisely moving his sword to block all of Jack's attacks. Keith's using as little movement as possible. It shows how much control he has. But Jack continues to attack him with all his force."
The difference in skill was clear. Keith was a couple of notches higher than Jack.
Ryan asked William, "What did you guys do to him to get him to this level?" This was surprising.
He doubted Keith would lose to the best knights he had.
William turned to Michael, "What did you do?" Michael was the one who trained Keith.
"I sparred with the kid every single day," Michael answered.
"..." "..." William and Ryan had nothing to say. Michael was a monster. And the kid fought with him every day!
No wonder he was so strong!
They turned back to the match. Keith was going to destroy Jack.
The only question was when!
...
"Are you only going to defend?!" Jack roared. His expression finally snapped. Keith was only defending and not doing anything else. It was making him angry.
"I'm waiting for you to finish," Keith answered.
"I haven't given it my all! You're looking at the next sword saint!" Jack roared as he continued to attack Keith. But Keith continued to block them effortlessly.
"I think this is enough." Keith didn't hesitate to swing his sword! That was his first draw.
And it was his last. Keith had his sword raised at Jack's neck.
"You lost."
