Chapter 5 - White
Chapter 5: White
“Come out, I can see you.”
The white magical girl spoke calmly with her back turned to Snow Qing.
How is that possible?
—This was Snow Qing’s immediate reaction.
As a master of psychic powers and the dark attribute, she, in her current state, could traverse between the material world and the dream world as a semi-spiritual being. In theory, as long as she wanted to hide, people in the material world shouldn’t be able to detect her.
However, seeing that white figure facing away from her, Snow Qing’s certainty wavered.
Then, the white figure continued to speak —
“Do I have to invite you to come out?”
She seemed to disdain turning around.
“Ah, forget it.”
Although Snow Qing didn’t understand how the other person sensed her, acknowledging the skill discrepancy, she slowly stepped out from behind the wall.
Hearing Snow Qing’s footsteps, the white figure immediately turned around.
Whether it was an illusion or not, Snow Qing felt a hint of surprise in the other person’s reaction.
The white light from the streetlamp scattered on the all-white one-piece dress, reflecting a faint highlight on the wedding-dress-style white silk, making the girl appear exceptionally holy in the dim evening. She wore long white gloves with lace patterns on her hands, and her long legs were covered in white stockings, stepping on transparent high heels.
Now, Snow Qing could see the face of the newcomer clearly.
She recognized this person.
Strictly speaking —
It was the past version of herself who recognized this person.
This person had a name that matched well with her snow-white skin.
“Hello, I am Magical Girl White. You must be Snow Qing, the ‘Cleaner… No, Magical Girl Snow Qing,’ right?”
White greeted Snow Qing solemnly, seemingly well-prepared.
Snow Qing felt somewhat tricky. She didn’t understand why she would encounter this person here.
This person — White, was a formidable character in the game, at least after her fall. In a certain branch, she would single-handedly destroy the entire city. So, Snow Qing didn’t want to encounter White under these unprepared circumstances. Still, now she had to continue the conversation head-on.
“Did you come looking for me on purpose? Also, how did you discover me?”
Snow Qing decided to first ask her questions.
White nodded.
“Yes, I did come specifically to find you. As for how I discovered you…”
At this point, the usually ice-cold White finally showed a hint of a smile. Her smile gave Snow Qing a bad premonition —
“I didn’t actually discover you. I just stayed in the same place after killing demons in different locations, repeating the same lines every five minutes. I said it three or four times before moving to the next location, that’s all.
“In fact, when you just appeared, I was also startled. Your concealment is really perfect, I believe no one could truly see through it.”
White explained her little trick in a very open manner, and Snow Qing found it infuriating as it made her feel foolish for falling into the trap.
“So, what? What do you want from me, and how did you know where I am?”
Snow Qing’s attitude wasn’t very friendly.
However, White didn’t mind the change in Snow Qing’s attitude and continued with the same indifferent smile.
“I came to invite you to join us.”
White stated abruptly.
“What’s going on? Join you for what?”
Although Snow Qing knew White from her past life, she didn’t fully understand her.
Because at that time, she was a power-oriented player who never paid attention to the background stories of the characters. She might be able to list the post-graduation attributes of certain characters, but she had no knowledge of their initial stages. Her stereotype of White came from her image as a rapid grinder in dungeons after her transformation, but the current White, who was still a normal person, was unfamiliar to Snow Qing.
“The current way magical girls are fighting is problematic.”
White began to explain in a tone resembling a speech.
“This structure controlled by entertainment companies will inevitably lead to disaster sooner or later. The problem may not have been exposed yet, but the upcoming battles won’t be as simple. The next demons won’t be like the current ones, and our enemies may not only be demons…”
As White spoke about the later parts, her tone seemed hesitant.
“What exactly are you trying to say? What do you know?”
Snow Qing felt that the other party probably had important information in her grasp.
“Before you join us, I can’t reveal this information to you. What I want to do is make magical girls unite more closely and face the crisis that is about to happen.”
White’s words gave an impression of righteousness.
“I come from the official federation, and our goal is to build a more orderly organizational system for magical girls.”
White extended her hand, wearing a white glove with lace, as an invitation to Snow Qing.
This was White’s invitation to her.
However, Snow Qing didn’t pay attention to it.
She frowned slightly, as she couldn’t recall White’s initial affiliation.
“You can’t just say this without any evidence. Do you have anything to prove you are from the federation?”
White remained composed.
“In a few days, the federal officials will hold a press conference. You will know then. I came tonight just to inform you in advance, before certain things happen.”
Snow Qing felt that, given the mysterious style of the person in front of her, she probably wouldn’t reveal what would happen “before certain things happen.”
“Why me?”
“Because you are strong, and you are different from other magical girls.”
White stared at Snow Qing.
“Praising me for being strong is really an exaggeration. But I am more interested in what you mean by ‘different’?”
White’s words made Snow Qing squint her eyes.
Could this person have seen through my true identity?
She was already planning to take action.
But —
“I sense a certain will from your actions.”
This was White’s reply.
“Other magical girls are merely driven by surrounding things without understanding the essence of this battle. Their motives for action may be vanity, friendship, justice, or something else. However, I believe they have not truly realized the cruelty of this battle. When they truly understand, I think many of them will waver — but you won’t.”
White said with certainty.
“Oh, so you think highly of me. Do you have any basis for saying that?”
Snow Qing asked in a deliberately relaxed manner.
However, White shook her head.
“No, that’s why I specially came to see you and when I saw you, I finally confirmed it. You are indeed different from the others.”
White confidently asserted.
“I have a keen eye for people. If you nod and express your stance now, I can help you block some unnecessary troubles.”
But Snow Qing wouldn’t be fooled by her words. She didn’t need companions, and she wouldn’t believe White, who she just met for the first time. She was accustomed to looking at everything with a conspiratorial eye.
“Ah, forget it. It seems you still have doubts. Let’s leave it for now; you can join us whenever you want in the future.”
White finally let go of the extended hand.
“What trouble are you talking about?”
Snow Qing decided to ask the final question.
After some consideration, White decided to tell her some information.
“If you join directly, there’s no need to mention it. But now… you better be careful after this.
The federation already has plans to deal with underground magical girls.”
White revealed an unexpected answer to her.
