Chapter 19: Nesseyes
"Confusions keep us alive"
**************************************
Severus was a little shocked. Although he had full faith in the twin brothers regarding the information, still he never thought that they would be this meticulous"
"Severus before we present our information there is one thing that I want to clear it out", it was Gemmi's voice. This time his voice was not arrogant or meek instead it was laced with worry.
"Sure, care to elaborate", Severus replied.
"Are you aware that if we tell you about this, we are going to perform treason? If by chance this news gets leaked, then we both will be charged for treason and will be executed without further investigation."
Severus smiled. The worries which Gemmi mentioned were not baseless. How could he not understand what they were worried about, after all, he was the knight of the crown prince as well as the ex-general of Rivera empire. He was fully aware of the laws and their severity of Rivera empire
Severus chuckled. It was true that he knew the laws of the Rivera empire like the back of his hand, but it was also true that he knew about the loopholes too.
Even the perfect isn't perfect, so how come a pathetic rulebook be.
"Don't worry. I have my ways to protect both of you from the accusation. If you believe in me then you can tell me and if you don't feel free to not tell. However, if you both don't tell me anything then we will end this meeting and will go our separate ways. Just behave like we never met"
Gemmi and Shenni were shocked when they heard what Severus said. Unknowingly they detested the idea of going separate ways and spilled everything.
"No, no. Gemmi didn't mean to offend you. Of course, we believe in you", Shenni said hastily.
Severus just smiled.
Unease gathered inside Shenni's heart and finally, he spoke," I don't know what Gemmi has in his bag but as for me I got only one news"
Severus maintained his poker face but deep inside his heart, he was full of anxiety.
"Tell"
"I met an old lady who was blind. There was nothing intriguing about her but when I asked her about my doubts, she gave me vague answers "
"Vague answers. Like what?", Severus questioned.
"She told me, 'that day was the black day in the history of Resen town"
Severus frowned after listening and couldn't help but ask, "From that day, did she mean the day when the massacre took place here?"
"I am not sure. Whenever I asked her, she just replied with, that day was the black day in the history of Resen town' or sang a verse"
"What verse"
"Umm….it was very chaotic.
Blood moon shone, high up in the sky,
Reflecting the bloody thirst of him
Floating dandelions of daffodils,
Took the souls away"
Severus was speechless. Was this a riddle game? he thought.
"I am not sure what she meant by this, but I am sure she was giving us hints", Shenni said seriously.
"Oh! You think so. Why so?", Severus frowned.
"After having a weird encounter with her, I ran a background check on her and as expected the results were far from our expectations", Shenni summed up.
"What did you find out?"
"The old lady never married. Though it's very common because she was blind, I don't think anyone asked her hand for marriage but that's not the main point. The main point is that her father had an ambiguous identity."
"Ambiguous identity. What do you mean by it?"
"That old lady mother was the native of the town, but her father wasn't."
"Isn't it common to have interstate marriages?", Severus asked in confusion.
"Well, it is very common but not in the case of her. Her dad, who was a foreigner knew how to read the 'Nesseyes'"
