Chapter 34: THE VOIDBORB PURSUIT
Season 2: Fool's Ascension
Chapter 4: The Voidborn Pursuit
The Star Skipper cruised through the dark void of space, its engines humming steadily as Yuki sat cross-legged in the ship's common room. In front of him, the three relic fragments floated midair, pulsating with faint light.
Yuki: (tilting his head) "So, do these things ever do, like... a laser show? Or is it all just spooky glowing?"
Milo: (walking in with a datapad) "The energy signatures they emit are highly complex. Honestly, we're lucky they haven't exploded yet."
Yuki: (grinning) "Lucky? Or maybe they like me. I mean, who wouldn't?"
Kara: (entering the room, arms crossed) "Can you focus for once, Yuki? The Voidborn are still out there. If they find us—"
Before she could finish, Rhea's voice echoed through the ship.
Rhea: "Incoming Voidborn ships detected. Three vessels closing in fast."
Kara: (groaning) "Of course. Why does this always happen when we're in the middle of nowhere?"
Yuki: (grabbing his jacket) "Don't worry. I've got this. Time for some classic Yuki maneuvers!"
Kara: (sarcastically) "Oh, great. We're doomed."
---
Scene 1: The Chase
The Star Skipper shot through space, weaving between asteroids and debris as the Voidborn ships closed in. On the bridge, Kara piloted the ship with precision, while Yuki leaned over her shoulder, offering "helpful" advice.
Yuki: (pointing at the screen) "Turn left! No, right! Wait, can spaceships even drift?"
Kara: (snapping) "Yuki, sit down before I throw you out of the airlock!"
Milo: (working furiously at a console) "I'm trying to reroute power to the shields. We can't take too many hits!"
The ship jolted as a blast from one of the Voidborn vessels grazed their hull.
Rhea: "Shields at 70%. Evasive action is recommended."
Yuki: (grinning) "Evasive action? That's my specialty!"
Yuki darted to the weapons console and began firing wildly at the pursuing ships. His shots missed their mark but managed to hit a nearby asteroid, sending debris flying into the path of their pursuers.
Kara: (glaring) "You did that on purpose, didn't you?"
Yuki: (winking) "Lucky shot. But hey, it worked!"
---
Scene 2: A Desperate Gamble
Despite Yuki's antics, the Voidborn ships continued to gain ground. Kara glanced at the nav screen, her brow furrowed.
Kara: "We're not going to outrun them like this. We need a plan."
Yuki: (snapping his fingers) "How about we jump into that creepy-looking nebula over there?"
The crew turned to look at the viewscreen, where a swirling mass of purple and green clouds loomed ahead. Lightning arced through the nebula, and strange, shadowy shapes flickered within.
Milo: (nervously) "That's the Phantasm Nebula. Ships that go in there… don't usually come out."
Yuki: (grinning) "Exactly! No one will expect us to hide there. It's perfect!"
Kara: (sighing) "This is insane. But it's not like we have better options. Rhea, set a course for the nebula."
Rhea: "Acknowledged. Brace for turbulence."
The Star Skipper plunged into the nebula, the ship shaking violently as lightning bolts crackled around them. The Voidborn ships hesitated at the nebula's edge, then slowly followed.

Scene 3: The Nebula's Secrets
Inside the nebula, visibility was almost zero. Strange shapes flickered in and out of existence, and the ship's instruments went haywire.
Milo: (frantically pressing buttons) "I can't get a stable reading! It's like the laws of physics don't work here."
Yuki: (peering out the window) "This place is awesome. It's like a haunted house, but in space!"
As the ship drifted deeper into the nebula, the relic fragments began to glow brighter.
Rhea: "The relic fragments are resonating with the nebula's energy. It's possible there's another fragment nearby."
Kara: (frowning) "Or it could be a trap. We need to be careful."
The crew followed the relics' energy signal to a massive structure floating in the heart of the nebula. It resembled a giant, shattered ring, with glowing glyphs etched into its surface.
Yuki: (excitedly) "Another ancient ruin! Let's go exploring!"
Kara: (grabbing his arm) "Wait. We don't know what's in there."
Yuki: (shrugging) "Only one way to find out!"
---
Scene 4: The Phantom Keeper
The crew donned their gear and entered the ruin, which was eerily quiet. As they ventured deeper, they came across a massive chamber filled with floating crystals. At the center was a pedestal holding the fourth relic fragment.
Yuki: (walking toward the pedestal) "Piece of cake. I'll grab it, and we'll be out of here in no time."
As soon as Yuki touched the fragment, the crystals around them began to glow, and a ghostly figure appeared—a translucent humanoid with glowing eyes.
Phantom Keeper: (booming voice) "You who seek the relics… prove your resolve, or be lost to the void!"
The chamber began to shift, the walls melting away to reveal a swirling vortex of energy. The crew found themselves standing on floating platforms as the Phantom Keeper attacked.
Kara: (firing her blaster) "Yuki, what did you get us into this time?"
Yuki: (dodging an energy blast) "Hey, don't blame me! This was obviously a trap!"
Milo: (analyzing the Keeper's movements) "The Keeper's power seems to be tied to the floating crystals. If we destroy them, we might weaken it!"
Working together, the crew targeted the crystals, dodging the Keeper's attacks as they shattered one crystal after another. Yuki, true to form, managed to destroy several crystals by tripping over debris and accidentally triggering chain reactions.
Kara: (rolling her eyes) "Only you could save the day by being clumsy."
Yuki: (grinning) "It's a talent!"
With the final crystal destroyed, the Keeper let out a deafening roar and dissolved into light, leaving the relic fragment behind.
---
Scene 5: The Relic's Warning
As Yuki picked up the fourth fragment, he was hit with another vision. This time, he saw the galaxy on the brink of destruction, with massive shadowy creatures devouring entire star systems. In the center of the chaos was the ancient fortress he had seen before.
Shadowed Voice: (whispering) "The fool's journey is the key to salvation… or annihilation."
Yuki snapped out of the vision, his expression unusually serious.
Kara: (concerned) "What did you see?"
Yuki: (quietly) "Something bad. Really bad."
As the crew returned to the Star Skipper, they couldn't shake the feeling that their journey was growing more dangerous with each fragment they collected.
