A Different Smallville

Chapter 9: Chapter 9

The next day after the confusing visit from Death of the Endless. Leonardo gave back control to Clark who basically neck deep in teenage drama and Sam Phelan. Sam had decided to stop by the farm and as for the teenage drama. Well it made Leonardo want to pull his hair out since it is basically Clark mooning over Lana and attempting to take her from Whitney. All while trying to be Whitney's friend and help him.

'Clark, you're almost as bad as a pornstar that became friends with girls just to bang their brothers.' Leo randomly compared Clark's actions to Abella Danger.

For why he randomly compared Clark the future Superman to a pornstar, Leonardo didn't know but it amused him. Which sparked a small memory of how Superman almost starred in one in the comic. Once again raised his amusement once more wondering how Clark would react if he signed him up to take part at least once.

'Leo, stop laughing at whatever you thought of, I've got an issue.' Clark said. 'My father sold the farm, but he doesn't remember ever signing his name.'

"Well we got to do something, Jonathan! The excuse the devil made me do it won't hold up in court." Martha shouted.

'If I remember correctly, Lucifer should soon be setting up a nightclub in Los Angeles. Well at least in a few years from now or maybe in a different universe.' Leonardo hummed.

'Leo, focus. How can we save the farm?' Clark asked.

'Television magic.' Leonardo offhandedly jokes. 'Well, jokes aside, I don't know as I am neither a lawyer nor are we wealthy businessmen.'

'Figures.' Clark bitterly said as if let down Leonardo didn't have all the answers.

'Clark, I may hold knowledge you don't hold, but it doesn't mean I know everything. I was an average person in my world who stocked shelves in a supermarket.' Leonardo answered. 'So, as much as it pains me, get the bald devil to help you.'

"I'm going to take this and see if Lex can help." Clark said.

"No. I will not owe Lex Luthor anything. Thank you very much." Jonathan said angrily.

"Right now you don't have anything to owe." Martha cut Jonathan's argument off.

--

Walking the streets after finishing his chat with Lex who agreed to help them. Clark noticed Whitney acting strange for he was walking up on Kyle Tippet with a baseball bat. Which made him remember the incident where Lana believes Kyle attacked her despite being unconscious.

Not that Kyle does himself any favors of living alone in the middle of the woods with a bunch of strange sculptors. However, this shouldn't warrant Whitney to attack him, though knowing that Whitney Father is in the hospital and apparently not doing well. Clark guessed he snapped and wanted to beat someone up.

'Hurry Clark, but don't use your powers. Rickman is watching from a distance.' Leonardo warned as he directed Clark's eyes over.

Knowing what to do, Clark began to run over. "Kyle watch out behind you!"

Kyle, who was slightly startled at this, moved quickly missing the metal bat aimed at his head. Shoving Whitney away, Clark used these valuable seconds to cross the street and tackled Whitney as he prepared for another swing.

As Whitney slammed into the sidewalk, he apparently snapped out of his rage as he looked around for a moment. Then he looked at Kyle which ignited his anger once more. Only a lot less hostile this time.

--

Not far away, Sam Phelan who was watching Clark tore up a photo losing interest. After following Clark around for most of the day, he didn't see anything special. Just that the teen seems to enjoy helping those that he can and wrapped up in teenage drama. So sighing as he used up his days off for nothing, he turned on his car and headed back to Metropolis to plan a robbery.

Rickman who was also watching this scene silently cursed at his plan being foiled. For Kyle was his only obstacle standing before him, not only the knowledge he holds, but Kyle being stronger in deals than he is. Which threatens all the work he did to build up his business empire.

--

"Whitney, why did you decide to take a swing at Kyle?" Clark asked.

'Well, judging by how confused he looked, he might have been hypnotized. Similar to Jonathan and quite a few who had a run in with Rickman.' Leonardo suggested. 'While it is mostly done by frauds or a few that can do small suggestions. There are a few masters or items in this world that could make others puppets at a snap of their fingers.'

"I don't know, one minute I am walking and get stopped by this man dressed all fancy, then the next I'm being tackled." Whitney answered. "Anyways, this guy attacked Lana, my girlfriend."

"Must be Rickman." Kyle said as he kept his distance from Whitney.

"Why would Rickman want to cause you harm?" Clark asked, a bit confused.

"Because he is a weirdo who likes attacking others' girlfriends." Whitney snarled.

'Well, we at least know that Lana doesn't date him because of his personality or brains. Probably because he is the captain of the football team, thus dating him grants her some sort of leverage over others.' Leonardo laughed at Clark's discomfort.

"Whitney, Lana was unconscious and from what I gathered from Chloe's video. Kyle was only trying to wake her after she fell." Clark tried to calm Whitney down.

'Shouldn't have said that.' Leonardo said as Whitney attempted to shove Clark.

"For someone who claims to love Lana, you sure don't act like it." Whitney angrily said before stomping away.

Clark only sighed at Whitney's remark, before looking at Kyle. He decided to deal with Whitney tomorrow since Whitney is clearly not in the mood to talk. Hence, he figured he might as well get some answers from Kyle who clearly knows something.

--

The next day, Clark sat in the Smallville High Torch, mulling over what he gained from Kyle. Now with most of the pieces and the knowledge of how Rickman convinced his father to sell the farm. He was left with questions on how he should go about things, not to mention needing to keep an eye on Kyle from Rickman's another assassination attempt.

"Why is everything so messy?" Clark grumbled.

"Not to sound a bit narcissistic, like a powerful wizard once said. 'I make mistakes like the next man. In fact, being--forgive me--rather clever than most men, my mistakes tend to be correspondingly huger.'" Leonardo answered.

"Great, you are quoting Dumbledore to me." Clark grumbled.

"If the shoe fits, Clark." Leonardo hummed.

At that moment they heard footsteps and turned around. There they found Chloe with a stack of papers as she entered the room.

"Who are you talking to, Clark?"

"I was talking aloud to myself. A habit of the old: they choose the wisest person present to speak to."

"Alright Gandalf." Chloe shook her head with a smile. "Well, I did some digging and it turns out Rickman and Kyle-"

"Small time salesmen who couldn't make a deal until the meteor shower. Skip a few years after becoming the best, one went on to raise a business empire while the other lives in the woods making sculptors." Clark added before Chloe finished.

"How do you know?"
