Chapter 39: Chapter 39
"Again, why is dragging me into town a good idea?" Leonardo asked.
"Pete is missing and the partner of a jewel thief that was caught is demanding the trial to be dropped and the man let go. Otherwise, he will make Pete disappear for good." Clark said. "Not to mention we have to be on the lookout for Alicia."
Leonardo rolled his eyes before Clark parked the truck not far down the road of the Talon. Leaning on the door as he panted a bit, Leonardo hated this period.
"Well, have you managed to pick up Pete's voice?" Leonardo asked Clark.
"I'm not a radar." Clark grumbled.
"No, but you have super hearing and should pick up his voice even if he whispers." Leonardo stated. "Hence, why I ask why I had to come along."
"It's a lot harder than you think." Clark sighed, but closed his eyes to focus.
After a few moments, Clark opened. "Alright I got his location, but there is a bigger situation I need to handle. A teen by the sounds of it is at the hospital with a bomb strapped to him."
"Take a lead blanket. Unless he made it himself, he most likely grabbed the bombs from the mining site and they used kryptonite in their bombs." Leonardo said softly. "Where am I heading for Pete?"
"Thanks, Leonardo. Three streets over and in the tow truck garage, you should find him." Clark said before he vanished from the truck.
Leonardo sighed as he willed himself to move. Pushing open the truck door, he looked to both sides before crossing the street. Right before he tripped on the curb on the otherside much to a few others' amusement.
'This sucks. Why couldn't he just super speed to save Pete before heading off.' Leonardo mentally grumbled as he stumbled his way down the sidewalk. 'We should really work on his one track mind sometimes.'
With a slightly quick pace for him at the moment or a normal walking pace for an average person. By the time Leonardo got to the garage where he softly heard Pete shouting. Clark should be able handle the crisis at the hospital and here before he even gets near.
Walking over the door, Leonardo sighed as he twisted the knob. Then he pushed open the door as the locks broke and he stumbled inside. Where the sound of a tool dropping to the floor echoed around.
"Pete, you ok?" Leonardo called out between breaths.
It felt like the air was getting thinner and thinner. Yet he knew it was just because he moved so much which seemed to aggravated the symptoms a bit.
"In the back." Pete shouted. "Hurry."
Leonardo walked around the corner and leaned back quickly, narrowly dodging the blow gun. Stumbling a bit, Leonardo steadied himself on the wall, before giving the teen trying to attack him a right hook. A punch that knocked the teen out cold, for while he had next to no balance or stamina he still had the strength of a locomotive.
Stepping over the teen, Leonardo appeared before Pete who was tied to the chair. He was a bit bloody, clearly being the punching bag for the teen to vent his frustration on. However, despite his pain he smiled up at him.
"Leo, my man. Clark's going to get after you taking his hero role." Pete jokes.
"I wouldn't worry about it, he is busy being a bomb squad at the moment at the hospital." Leonardo broked the ropes freeing Pete. "Now, this is done, call your mother and help me back to the truck."
By the time Pete helped Leonardo back to the truck, Clark was there grinning with a few dirt marks on his clothes. He gave a wave to Pete who shook his head feeling it was unbelievable. For his friends to rescue others, yet act like asking about the weather.

Later that night, while laying on the couch watching a late night rerun of Buffy. He noticed that Jonathan was grabbing a glass of water before looking over at him. Clearly wondering what to do for how late it was, but also knew Leonardo is clearly tired of resting.
Luckily something falling and banging against the wall in Clark's room stopped this conversation. Only for a more awkward one to follow in a few minutes as Martha and a fuming Jonathan came down with Clark in tow.
"Well, being busted red handed with your hand in a girl's panties isn't the end of the world Clark." Leonardo joked lightly after Jonathan and Martha ranted to him. "Just probably just one of the more embarrassing moments in one's life."
"Leo, stay out of this." Jonathan snapped.
"Shesh, Clark is never going to be close to anyone at this rate. You grill him for being a normal teenager for once." Leonardo muttered. "Granted it is a bit late for him to have a girl in his bed making out."
"Leo's right, sort of, Jonathan." Martha said. "Granted Clark should know better, but he is also at that age."
Jonathan pinched his nose in slight frustration before coming to a decision. "I expected to find Leonardo in this situation first, however I will let it slide this once. It better not happen again, Clark or there will be punishment."
"Yes, dad." Clark sighed with his head down.

The next day, Leonardo was basically bouncing on his heels as he basically fully adapted to Earth's atmosphere. Just he will have small bouts here and there still, but basically within the next day or so, he will be fully adapted. Not to mention his strength began to rapidly increase as did his speeds, durability and senses. While still not near Clark's current strength due to him absorbing sunlight for years, he wasn't like Superman when he first debuted in comics either.
Now after doing some chores on the farm, Leonardo was working on the boat that really took shape. Only he felt something off and walked up the stairs where he found the Loft redecorated. Plastered everywhere was a picture of the same girl and a Yearbook where Lana's picture had been scratched out.
"I can understand Lana's picture, but the pictures are a bit much." Leonardo let out a small whistle.
"Leo, what happened?" Clark rushed up the stairs.
"Your new girlfriend has been busy." Leonardo shrugged. "I know I told you to try other flavors but going for an obsessed girl is a bit much."
"It has its ups and downs." Clark vaguely said.
Leonardo rolled his eyes at him. "Clark, you will find someone who you can tell your secret to and be yourself around them. It is clear you haven't met them yet and definitely not Lana or you wouldn't be struggling so hard to convince yourself it's a good idea to tell her."
"You and mom keep saying that, but how will I know?" Clark grumbled.
"Go on a few normal dates with others and if something clicks, then you will have a direction." Leonardo shrugged as someone appeared in the Loft.
Seeing that Clark has his crazy girlfriend, Leonardo left down the steps. He rather not interfere with Clark's love life too much. Even if he dates a crazy girl, it might teach him a lesson of some kind.
In the end, a few hours later, Leonardo was watching Buffy again as Clark was moping about his failed relationship. Not to mention Alicia being sent off to Belle Reeves for treatment after trying to kill Lana.
"Aren't you tired of this show?" Jonathan asked.
"It's better than watching Clark train wreck of a love life truth be told." Leonardo replied.
