A Bioweapon's Rhapsody

"Alexa is back!" Alexa said as she jumped, did a 1023489234° no-scope (she did a small spinny spin) and raised her fist proudly to the heavens.

"Well hello there Alexa," the mom person said, smiling at her. Alexa smiled back, because that is what cute girls are known to do when they're smiled at. "How are you feeling? Your... sister? Ale was feeling under the weather."

She was?

Ale said nothing!

"Alexa is fine!" Alexa said, patting herself, she was no longer wearing her comfy white sundress, instead she was wearing one of her favorite blouses and short pants. Weird.

But that was not important, for Alexa was cute no matter what she wore! What was important was what Alexa found!

"Alexa knows what happened to Ale!" Alexa said, nodding sagely, "She got stuck with a foul-tasting Feel from Meli-Meli."

"A foul tasting...feel?" The mom person asked slowly, "She hurt Mellisandra Singh's feelings?"

"No?" Alexa said, shaking her head, even if Ale was kind of mean sometimes, she didn't actually hurt anyone's feelings, unless they paid her, and it was in one of her streams. But Ale didn't like when Alexa saw those times, so Alexa pretended to not known that fact! "Meli-Meli used her [Core Power] and sent a bad feel!"

Alexa had seen the information thingy in the logs, a foreign wave of Mana Wavelenghts... Or had Ale said that it wasn't a wavelenght? What was even this weird energy? Alexa's first take of it had been when Main Core registered in one of their energy spectrum thingies.

But Ale was convinced that it was an energy, not a wavelength.

"A bad feel?" The mom person said, thinking for a few seconds and touching the blue crystal all over, "Do you know what Core Power had Melissandra?"

"Yes," Alexa said nodding quickly, a thousand nods in a second (She nodded twice), "Meli-Meli could take her [Feels] and shove them around!"

"Melissandra could tamper with the mind as far as we know, but we never understood the means she used." The mom person said mostly talking to herself, "So you say she could take her feelings and move them around?"

"Yes," Alexa said, nodding, "Main Core said the same the first time we met her, she threw all kinds of feels to Alexa, but Main Core took them and used them to increase Alexa's library!"

"Your library?" The mom person asked as she stopped fondling her crystal flat thingy. "What do you mean?"

"Alexa has a library of feels!" Alexa said nodding sagely, "Is how Alexa knows how to be the cutestestes Alexa there is!"

It was one of the gifts that Main Core had left her, so she took care of it, updated it when possible and always made sure it was protected and safe!

"That is very good, we all should take care of our feelings." The mom person said nodding to Alexa, Alexa had the impression that there was miscommunication at some point, but she ignored it, surely it was her imagination, no way the mom person would be misconstructing Alexa's words in a convenient way to Alexa!

The world didn't work like that! (It does)

"Well, do you know if your sister is okay?" The mom person then asked about Ale.

Was she okay?

Ale you okay?

[Yes, no issues here. I think in a couple of hours I could go back to the front. The remnants of mana that clung to my form are dissipating, but it may take some time to make sure. Just do your thing, if you need me I'll be ready.]

"She says she is fine, but the weird thingy is stuck to her so she will take a shower." Alexa answered nodding, Ale did smell kind of bad at the moment. She made sure to put a shower near Ale who was just watching the big TV to see what Alexa was up. "Why?"

"Why she asks..." The mom person said sighing, "I saw your sister's finger start to... well, dissolve. That is not normal, so I got worried."

Not normal?

But that was how it looked when the nanites combusted. So it was kind of normal? The bad feel that Meli-Meli had used was [Death] after all, so it made sense right?

Actually what was even that? Death.

Like, okay, Alexa knew that, they had told her about it a few times already hadn't they? But, why would it affect them like that? Main Core? Alexandra?

They had backups, and even with those, they still experienced [Death]. Alexa had a hard time parsing how that worked.

But that was for later! When Alexa was feeling philosophical! And she was not dressed for that! She needed a hat for that! Like a detective hat!

"She is totally fine!" Alexa said once more, "She is sitting on the couch eating popcorn and stuff!"

Ale was totally fine, she was somewhat grumpy, but that was Ale's natural state.

"Right...well, we can check on that later." The mom person said, putting her weird cylinder with the crystal screen in her pocket once more. It really looked like a pen like that, "Come, we are visiting a friend."

Then the mom person extended a hand towards Alexa, so Alexa did the most natural thing a cute girl like Alexa should do when a total stranger offered a hand to her.

"Okay!" Alexa said taking the offered hand with a smile on her face.

The Mom person nodded and pulled at Alexa, then with the other hand she took a card from one of her pockets and hovered by the side of the door, after a small ping that was followed by the sound of some weird thingy within the doll and wall, the door slid open.

As in, the door sank into the wall, was that how doors worked? Alexa hadn't seen something like that before had she?

"This way," The mom person said walking to the hallway, it was white and the floor looked very clean, Alexa could probably eat out of the floor... Or eat the floor, actually Alexa was kind of hungry... "We need to make a quick stop, let me see if I can..."

[Main Core?]

[Ale: No, that sounds like the IA within the system we found before.]

[Albireo: That is correct.]

[Ale: Proceed. Do not bother Alexa and send your questions to me next time.]

[Albireo: As you wish, Mistress.]

Alexa was ignored!

"Oh, it went through..." The mom person said surprised by something, was it about what Alexa had seen? "Well, don't question good fortune. Maybe Vivian finally diversified."

Vivian?

"This way Alexa, quick, before they notice." The mom person pulled stronger at Alexa, so Alexa did the reasonable thing and started running! For she would not be pulled, but pull! "It's around the corner."

Alexa was not sure what was around the corner but continued walking, for some reason there wasn't that many people around, Alexa could hear people though, they were within the doors, or behind the door, either way, she wondered what was happening that the people didn't walk around. Even though this place looked so nice and clean.

"Here it is, the shortcut." The mom person said pushing a button on the wall, as she did so, the wall shone for a few seconds and settled into a normal door. Weird wall, "Come, it's safe."

And like that, the mom person walked forward, so Alexa followed suit.

"It tickles!" Alexa said as she felt a wave of Mana rush through her body when they went past the arch that had formed on the wall. "Alexa tickles!"

"Everyone feels it differently," The mom person said, smiling at Alexa. "And everyone only has so many uses of these, so come."

The Mom person pulled at Alexa and walked towards yet another door, when they walked out Alexa found herself in a reception area, it was filled with people of all types and forms. And by that, Alexa means mostly [Humans], since they couldn't have that much difference between each other.

Besides their tastes in clothes and color, a few seemed to have some margin of color going from darker to white, some others had other markers such as sharper eyes, bigger eyes, and there was that one weird guy with mechanical cat ears atop his head.

Was he a failed Cat Core user?

Alexa knew Ale could grow those too, was he like Ale?

Alexa had so many questions!

"One guest pass please." The mom person said as they walked closer to the desk in the middle of the room. A few people turned to look at Alexa, so Alexa waved at them, those people smiled at Alexa back, as they should.

"...Reason?" The person at the other side of the desk asked, Alexa was not sure what to describe that person as. Since she could not see them!

They hid behind their mighty construct! (That is to say, Alexa was too short to see the other side of the reception desk.)

"Medical Healthcheck. Vivian is doing me a favour." The mom person said back, "Just put her in my Humanitarian log and print the pass."

"...*Sigh* You know they will start asking questions if you keep doing this, you can't just bring the first sad case you find..." The hiding person said, "At least this one doesn't look like an orphan."

Orphan?

"Alexa is one of those!" Alexa said raising her free hand, "It means that Alexa has no Papa or Mama right?"

"...Just get her over and done okay?" The person on the other side said while passing the mom person a weird card stuck in a cord, "Before they start complaining for the number of times you have done this, how did you even get her past security?"

"Thank you Sharon," The mom person said putting the weird cord thing on Alexa, "I mean it."

Alexa took that chance to look at the weird card thing, it had Alexa's name and a picture of her waving, when had they taken that one?

Alexa didn't know she was getting pictures of her taken! She needed to pose! Or something!

[Big Sister] had said that one should pose! *Sniff* Even if she had said that to Alexandra and not Alexa! But Alexa would carry that role now! She would be both the cutestests and the most beautiful of them all!

Yes! Alexa could do it! Why? Because Alexa said so!

"Come on then Alexa," The mom person said squishing Alexa's hand, "Time for you to say hi to Aunty Vivian."

Aunty Vivian? Alexa had an Aunty Vivi??

Yeah that sounded about right.

"Okay!" Alexa said nodding then pointing with her free hand she said, "To Aunty Vivi!"

Where she pointed to you ask?

Towards Aunt Vivi of course!

"Yes, let's go take the elevator." And the mom person had the smarts to walk to where Alexa had pointed, which seemed to be in the same direction as the elevators.

Alexa had pointed where the people seemed to be going, so perhaps it wasn't that weird that the mom person wanted to go there.

"Okay!" Alexa repeated herself while they walked in that direction, when they got near the elevator, Alexa noticed that there was a group of people that didn't walked in.

The Mom person seemed to ignore and merely walked inside the elevator room, with Alexa in tow. Once both were inside (And no more people remained within the elevator), the Mom person pushed her card against the side panel.

The panel did a beep thing sound, and soon the doors closed, and just like that, it started moving.

"Okay, now...." The mom person started saying, only to stop talking and think things through before continuing, "Aunty Vivian is... a good person okay."

"Yes," Alexa nodded, "She is Aunty Viv after all!"

Alexa was unsure who Aunty Viv was, but she sounded like the type of person who wanted Alexa to know all the important thingies she needed to know and would bribe her with cakes, Alexa was not entirely sure why she thought as such, but surely it must be true!

"She wants what is best for you too okay." The mom person said afterwards, "But she gets misunderstood sometimes, so please don't be scared okay?"

"Okay," Alexa nodded, "Alexa will be brave!"

Even if she wasn't sure why the mom person kept saying that. How dangerous could a [Human] be anyway?

"Good... She will probably only do a few tests, you look healthy enough." The mom person said sighing, after a few seconds from saying that the elevator dinged once more, and this time the doors opened wide, "We are here..."

Alexa walked out and... found that outside the window in the hallway they could see the outside world. As in they could see a park, hadn't they been climbing in the elevator?

"Ah yes, that confused me the first few times too." The mom person said, looking at the window, "These elevators don't only go up but sideways too, it didn't feel as if we were moving right? Some people claim these are actually teleporters, but not even the blonde manchild would spend that much money on this. Now if these went to his office, then I would believe it."

Alexa didn't get what was the deal with that. Wasn't this box supposed to be to go up and down? Why would they make one that goes sideways?

"And there is Aunty Vivian." The mom person said pointing at the other side of the park that they had ended up near, "Laboratory 1."

Why numbers?

"Let's go say hi." The mom person said walking towards the door at the end of the path they had arrived at. "Remember Alexa, Aunty Vivian means well, no matter what you see."

Alexa was getting more and more curious about this. So she walked forward, wondering what they would find, especially if they had such a nice and spacious park around!

Alexa could detect some small animals within the park even!

A few rodents running around, a couple of birdies, and what seemed to be a quadrupedal biological entity running around from bush to bush.

"Vivian?" The mom person said opening the door into the laboratory, the smell of solvents and chemicals hitting Alexa's nose, making her sneeze. "I have a patient for you to check and a couple samples I want checked."

Alexa walked in after the mom person, and sure enough the place reeked of chemicals, Alexa could see a couple person moving from part of the laboratory to the next, some people playing with test tubes and at the very back. Alexa saw a blue-haired person turning to look at them.

"Miriam?" The bluehaired person said, "You didn't call."

The person put what she was doing to the side and walked towards them, "Are you hurt or..." Then turned to look at the mom person first, then turned her attention towards Alexa. "You picked another stray?"

Alexa was not a stray!

"Alexa is not a stray!" Alexa defended her honor, "Alexa is Alexa, and she is of Alexa!"

Yes.

"Can you give her a full health check-up?" The mom person said then pulling from within her belt, she took the test tubes from before, "And check these for known poison and diseases, I suspect some kind of biological agent. But the patient claims it was from a Mind Core Power."

"...Either your patient is drunk, or they don't understand how Core Power works." The blueperson said then turned to Alexa she added, "Well... Nice to meet you Alexa. My name is Vivian Kellet, you can call me Doctor Kellet."

Yes, she sounded like an Aunty Viv.

Alexa would call her as such.
