A Berserker Reborn

Chapter 16: Chapter 16: Student

Guts smirked as he looked at the trio in front of him. The snow-possessed monsters behind them turned their attention to him now instead. With a swing of his sword, they died.

"Ha! You thought you could avoid me? I am like a snake that follows its prey no matter what! Now teach me what you owe me!"

Guts smirked down at Isidro. But he then looked at Farnese and Serpico. Serpico started sweating. Farnese looked down at the ground in her thoughts, thinking of how she should say it.

"So, what do you want?"

Guts asked as he put Dragon Slayer back into its holder. Serpico looked at Farnese waiting for her answer. He is not the one making the decisions after all.

Serpico was suddenly shocked as Farnese turned towards Guts. She kneeled down on one knee on the cold snow, and she bowed her head as she began speaking.

"Black Swordsman-dono...Please let us accompany you on your journey."

Guts smiled as he walked past Farnese. Isidro followed him. Farnese started to sweat as she thought that he was refusing.

"What are you doing? Hurry or the fire I set will go out in a few minutes."

Farnese looked up in surprise. She turned to guts and saw that he was smiling at her, she stood up and nodded her head as she followed him with Serpico tailing behind her.

"Guts-sensei! They are suspicious, probably;y thinking of attacking us in our sleep! Or worse, poisoning us!"

Isidro said as he glared at Farnese and Serpico. Guts smiled as he looked back at the two.

"Rest assured. I have already returned to secular life, and I abandoned the life of priesthood."

Farnese defended her. Her voice was full of commitment, like she made her mind up long ago.

"I want to learn how to survive in a world like this. Without depending on hope, like you!"

Guts turned around and nodded his head. They soon reached the fireplace. Casca was eating the last fish while Puck was still swinging his sword.

"Huh! Is that dropi?!"

Isidro and Puck ran towards each other, embracing each other in a huge. Puck let out a wheeze as he was almost crushed. Casca looked up and backed up slightly at the sight of Farnese.

"Puck. They will be coming with us to Elfhelm."

Puck nodded his head with a smile on his face. They gathered their things. Which were not much other than a cloak and a sword.

"Alright. Let's get going. We could cover a lot of tracks before night falls."

Isidro nodded, and he moved next to him. Farnese looked at Casca. And she moved closer to her, guilt in her eyes. Guts looked at this before looking in front of him.

The 6 of them soon made their way out of the snow area, reaching a place where less snow was, and more sunlight. As night came, they stopped and Serpico made some food.

"Farnese. I don't need you to fight monsters or demons. Just look after Casca for me. Please."

Farnese looked at Guts in surprise. Farnese looked at Casca and her guilt increased. She moved closer to Casca and started feeding her since she might hurt herself from the hot soup.

Guts smiled before turning to Isidro. He stood up and went towards a tree. He broke a thick branch off and threw it in front of Isidro.

"Oh yeah! Finally, you are gonna teach me! Show me how to send a flying slash like you!"

Guts smirked before he let out a laugh. He is not underestimating Isidro, but he does not think that a normal human could do a flying slash like him.

The only way to do that is to be able to swing a sword that weighs half a ton at multiple times the speed orf sound. He does not think Isidro will be able to do that even if he trains for a life time.

Even Guts with the berserk armour could not send a flying slash like him. Isidro frowned as he looked at Guts' smiling.

"What is so funny?! Fight me now!"

Guts walked closer, and Isidro attacked him. Guts felt time freeze, and his eyes instantly noticed every single thing that was wrong with the way Isidro attacked him.

"Stop. That's not how you attack."

Isidro stopped. Guts walked closer to him and he made him stand straight. with the stick he started telling him how to make a correct stance.

"Spread your legs, but not too much or too little, or you will easily be thrown off by force. Your shoulders are too low, raise it or your sword will not have as much force."

Puck imitated Isidro as he had a stick in his hand. Time passed as Guts taught Isidro how to make a correct stance for half an hour.

Surprisingly, the kid actually managed to do the stance properly. It is unstable and weak. But he will manage to do it in a day or two.

The team ate dinner, and then they went to sleep. In the middle of the night, everyone woke up as they heard the sound of fighting. They saw Guts slashing ghosts in half.

Turning around. Guts rubbed his temple as he saw everyone staring.

"Sorry, I tried to be quiet. Don't worry. You can go back to sleep."

Isidro jumped up with a sword in his hand. He had a righteous face as he stared at Guts.

"Don't worry! I will kill those ghosts. You can go and rest!"

Guts smirked before he hit Isidro on the head. Everyone soon went back to sleep until it was the morning.

"Everyone! Wake up. It is time for us to get moving!"

The team packed up and started making their way towards Elfhelm. They reached a swamp-like area where the team encountered some zombies. They were easily solved by Guts.

Except for one.

"Isidro. Go and kill that."

Isidro started sweating as he looked around. He then pointed at himself. Guts smirked. He gripped his collar and pushed him in front of the zombie.

"Use what I taught you!"

Isidro squinted his eyes as the zombie ran towards him. He got into a slightly unstable stance. As the Zombie slashed down at his, his sword deflected it to the side.

"Slash him in the middle!"

Guts instructed and Isidro screamed as he spun around. His sword slashed into the zombie's stomach. Almost going all the way through before stopping inside the bones.

The Zombie was not bothered by it. Guts slashed him in half, saving Isidro in the process.

"Not bad kid. But do better next time. If you used your whole body in the swing. You would have cut him in half."

Isidro nodded as a smirk made it onto his face. He was scared for a few seconds, but that fear made way for satisfaction at seeing himself actually improve.

"Now. Let's continue."

Guts already knew where they had to go. So he did not ask any old man. The way they have to go is Viritannis. That's where they will get a boat to go to Elfhelm.

The group continued on its way. Until they reached the forest where the troll Lived. Guts could already see it was praying on the group. Waiting for someone to wander off.

It was not alone. It had at least 5 other Trolls watching them. Guts could also see a little witch watching them from deep in the woods.

Standing up, Guts walked into the woods. The team watched him before going back to their business. They know it's likely related to something supernatural.

Boom!

Suddenly a half-moon slash sis ent forward by guts. Every tree in a hundred meters is cut in half. Shierke hiding looked at Guts in shock, her staff shaking.

On the ground are the Trolls. All of them were cut in half, Guts clenched his fist as he felt his strength, durability and speed increase. Killing 5 trolls was like killing an apostle.

"Hey. How about you come out of hiding?"
