10 days to mortality

Louis blues eyes stared intently at Vlad. " What do you need my help for?" he asked

"I want to become human" Vlad deadpanned. Louis raised his eyebrows, a bit taken aback.

" A human? He asked not sure if he had heard him right. Vlad nodded his head,not wanting to repeat himself again.

" If I may ask, why would a vampire, a pure blood at that suddenly want to become an ordinary human? Or is there a human you are beginning to fancy?" Louis asked.

Vlad leaned on the wooden chair, closing his eyes for a brief moment before speaking, " I believe I have lived long enough as a vampire wouldn't it be exciting to experience something new?" he spoke briefly not wanting to go into details.

Louis shook his head, no sane vampire would suddenly want to become a human unless there was a strong reason behind it. Infact no vampire in the history of vampires has ever thought of becoming human, instead it was the other way round.

" this is the strangest thing I have ever heard in my one thousand years of living, he paused. You becoming human means giving up your immortality, you would no longer_

" I know all that Louis" Vlad cut in " I have thought hard and long about this. There is no point in living forever if it's just the same same activities over and over again, I want to experience something new I want to know how it feels to have a heart beat, to fall in love and die with the person you love, something vampires can't experience. Even if it means giving up being immortal I don't care"

Silence….

Louis nodded his head " I think I know where you are driving at. Being the last vampires, we just have to keep on living for centuries till our time is finally up. We can't even have a normal family like the humans which you now want so badly, but I think you are being rash with your decision of becoming a mere human "

" are you helping me or not? He asked straight faced.

Louis shrugged his shoulders," There are informations about vampires becoming a human but it is not something I can get a of hold of easily as no vampire has ever attempted to change his original nature,I would get back to you as soon as I find something useful"

The next week, Vanessa has come to visit Vlad, she was one of the few guests that visited his mansion. They both sat in the garden with Vanessa chatting endlessly. He knew she desperately wanted him to like her, if only she knew he had no feelings. He couldn't feel sympathy,love or warmth like an ordinary human, vampires only pretend to have these feelings just to blend in with the others, something he now wished to have for real.

" I would be throwing a small party next week promise me you would come, hum?" Vanessa asked clutching his hands.

Vladimir quickly remove her hands on his arm. He was cold blooded. Humans had found it odd whenever they shaked hands or touched him, his body was as cold as ice. He had always avoided their curious questions as to why he was so cold, which resulted in him wearing jackets and gloves whether hot or cold.

" You don't like people touching you" Vanessa was getting frustrated, she had tried all means to make this man fall for her, but he always ended up surprising her.

" You should go now Vanessa" Vlad spoke standing up. He had avoided sitting close to her but she was stubborn and now she was trying to touch him.

" Why Vlad don't you like me, am I not good enough? You don't even let me touch you" she cried.

Not wanting to snap at her, vald closed his eyes. If only she knew how desperately he needed human blood and she coming too close to him would not only scare her but he might end up killing her in the process.

" I don't like you Vanessa so stop pestering me." He spoke without mincing words. If this is the only way to stop her he didn't mind.

She stood, tears already pouring out of her eyes. Vlad swatted her hands as she tried slapping him making her angrier.

"I thought you were a gentle man. I hate you!" She screamed picking up her purse as she ran out of the garden.

Vlad sighed.

" Heartbreaker" he turned to see Theodore. " What did you do to her" Theodore asked, but his expression was more cheerful than usual.

"It's for the best" he replied. " You seem happier than usual today"

" Well, I have finally satisfies my cravings"

" You killed someone again" Vlad spoke.

Theodore nodded a smile playing on his lips.

" That's murder"

Theodore laughed at his words. "Don't tell me you are beginning to think like these humans. He said admist laughter, they are our food Vlad and we have every right to their blood, I don't care if they are beginning to dominate, all I know is that they would be forever beneath us "

" I think it's high time you accept the truth, humans are no longer insignificant as we had thought"

Theodore scoffed, " I don't care anymore Vlad, I'm going crazy about this whole change"

" I want to become human" Vlad blurted

"What did you just say?" Theodore asked calmly not wanting to believe what he just heard.

" You heard me"

" have you lost your mind?! What has gotten into you Vlad?!" Theodore fumed. " Do you even know what you are saying right now"

" I have thought hard about this and it is what my heart wants" Vlad spoke he had expected this reaction from his friend.

Theodore let out a scary smile " I knew it, staying with humans is beginning to affect you negatively, you even think you have a heart"

" We have a heart Theodore" Vlad rolled his eyes

" No we don't, a heart that doesn't beat is not a heart."

Vlad exhaled " I have made my decisions."

" Is that the reason why you wanted to see Louis? And who told we can become humans, snap out of your imaginations"

" If humans could turn vampires then, I believe we also can turn humans." He argued.

Theodore shook his head " those things has gone extinct Vlad. It would be a shame to vampires if you make such careless decisions, I just hope you are joking" he stood up to leave. " Call me when you have returned to your senses."

Vlad knew his decision to turn human was indeed ridiculous and degrading of him as a vampire, but he had made up his mind.

The day after, he received a mail from Louis asking him to meetup. He flew past the alley in his bat form. He stopped before a an old building, changing back to his vampire form, as he stepped into the building.

" You came earlier than expected" Louis voice echoed through the empty hall as he caught sight of Vlad.

" Why are we meeting in such shady place? Vlad asked his eyes scanning the environment for any possible threat.

As a vampire he knew other vampires can not be easily trusted especially when he was trying to become a human which is something no vampire would be happy about. The building was old and dusty, the door creaked as he pushed it.

" It's just the two of us." Louis spoke.

"Who knows, one has to be careful always" he remarked.

Louis brought out an old book from his suitcase." Here" he said handling him the book . " There is only one way for a vampire to become human" he paused, as if wanting his words to sink in, " a hundred years of slumber in the blood coffin"

Vlad brows furrowed " blood coffin?"

" Yes blood coffin " confirming his question. " The blood coffin is a wooden coffin crafted from a rare ancient wood with the blood of humans and vampires,it has powerful energies that is capable of draining you of your vampire nature after a hundred years leaving you to nothing but an ordinary human"

" Where can I find the coffin? Vlad asked, not fazed about sleeping for a hundred years. Though he was a bit surprised about sleeping for a hundred years,he had prepared his mind for the worst knowing fully well a vampire turning to a human was no child's play.

" It's in a cave hidden in the deep forest of blood vile" Louis walked up to where he was his shoes clicking against the tiled floor. " The book in your hand would help you understand better, I hope you think more carefully about this and when you are ready, you know where to find me" he said as he departed.

Vlad inhaled deeply, " I am ready" his voice resounded causing Louis to stop in his tracks. Louis turned to look at him, Vlad had a look of unwavering conviction as he spoke.

" Are you sure of this Vlad?" He asked again

" I have made up my mind Louis, it's what I want, to become a human"
