Chapter 914: Idealism
"Come, take a look at this."
After tapping at the keyboard for a while, Zhao Shuangdian placed the computer screen in front of Li Huowang.
"What do you want me to see? I can't understand these." Li Huowang felt dizzy seeing a string of formulas.
Zhao Shuangdian furrowed his brow and thought for a few seconds before looking at Li Huowang and asking, "Are you willing to start learning from scratch? I can teach you, if what you say is true, then maybe there are only three explanations."
"Why must I adapt to your worldview? Is your worldview definitely the truth? Why couldn't it be that my worldview is the true reality and yours is false?"
"Your worldview is in conflict with mine. Now, my worldview is coherent, while yours has encountered contradictions. Shouldn't you look for reasons within your own worldview?"
"I won't learn, nor do I intend to! Anyway, this is how things are, and I've pointed out the contradictions to you. Whether you believe it or not, it's up to you!"
Ba Nanxu, who was nearby, laughed and said, "Adapt to your worldview? Are you trying to drag us all into madness?"
"Shut up." As Zhao Shuangdian glanced at Ba Nanxu, she shrugged, sat on the sofa, and started watching TV.
Zhao Shuangdian quickly switched interfaces on the computer and created a new document. "Okay, Li Huowang, I believe you. Tell me your worldview again, in more detail."
Seeing Zhao Shuangdian truly believe in him, Li Huowang took a deep breath, calmed himself, and began to narrate slowly. "Alright, this starts from the Qingfeng Taoist Temple, back when I was still in the hospital receiving treatment, and just thought that was fake..."
In the following hours, Li Huowang recounted the bizarre world to the other person, and by the time he finished telling everything, it was already dark outside.
"Let's eat first before continuing. The food's gone cold; I've saved you a portion." Ba Nanxu walked over with a beer bottle and said to Zhao Shuangdian.
"Shh, be quiet for a moment, I need to sort this out." Zhao Shuangdian rapidly tapped the up and down arrow keys as she organized Li Huowang's records.
"Did you save me some? I'm hungry too." Li Huowang stood up, having calmed down after a few hours.
"Oh, the lunatic knows to eat, huh?" Ba Nanxu turned away with a look of disdain.
"Come, sit here, I've saved you a portion." Wu Qi waved at Li Huowang from the dining table.
Li Huowang glanced over at Zhao Shuangdian in thought, then walked over and picked up the plate of potato and chicken rice, and started eating.
Halfway through his meal, Zhao Shuangdian finished organizing. She placed the laptop next to Li Huowang.
"Li Huowang, I've seriously organized this. Although I really want to believe you, I find that your world isn't as coherent as you say, even less coherent than others'. Many places are even idealistic."
Li Huowang swallowed the chicken in his mouth. "Haven't you understood yet? This world isn't normal; it's crazy. Nothing is surprising in it."
"Moreover, is your materialistic worldview necessarily the truth? Maybe our world is also idealistic, we just haven't realized it yet." After saying this, Li Huowang continued eating.
Zhao Shuangdian, after hearing these words, began to seriously ponder, her hands tapping on the keyboard with rapid clicks, seemingly calculating something.
Once Li Huowang was almost finished eating, she paused her hand and said, "Alright, you've convinced me."
"Hmm?" Li Huowang was stunned; she believed him so easily? It was truly unexpected for him, as she was the first person to believe everything he said since leaving the Qingfeng Taoist Temple. It was too easy.
He had been prepared for the situation where Zhao Shuangdian would not accept the explanations afterward.
"What do you mean? Convinced this easily? Could it be that our world is indeed idealistic?"
"In our world, there's none in the macro realm, but quite a bit in the micro realm." Zhao Shuangdian said while closing the laptop.
"Idealistic?" Li Huowang glanced at the crystal chandelier above, then turned to look at the leather sofa on the left, and finally back to Zhao Shuangdian's delicate face. Nothing had changed.
"Don't worry, even if it's idealistic, we can still make bold hypotheses and carefully verify them. Thank you for the help, it greatly aids my research."
Li Huowang continued eating without looking up. "You're welcome. What I'm afraid of now is that, if on February 6th, Fate Commander gets killed again, everything will return to the starting point, and I might have to explain everything to you again."
"No problem. If you can truly reverse time, then we can use you to synchronize information with me at that time. You're a variable."
"Whatever you say, as long as it's understandable." Li Huowang placed the plate down and seriously pondered before speaking, "If everything about me is true, then some things need reconsideration. For instance, your previous elephant theory."
"Maybe the elephant you mentioned isn't laid out, with ivory, legs, and trunk stacked on sheets of paper at the same point in time."
"Only this way can we explain why when we jump to the ivory of another elephant to solve problems, we need to return to this time point again when dealing with issues on the trunk."
"There's that possibility, a very unusual hypothesis."
"Isn't it even more unusual that an elephant like this is still alive?" Li Huowang picked up the chopsticks and shoved the remaining rice into his mouth.
"It's too early to say anything now, we still need more evidence. But anyway, thank you." Zhao Shuangdian was about to leave, but Li Huowang stopped her.
"Regardless of your possibility or my hypothesis, just how long do we have to keep struggling? I'm really tired, so tired."
"I can't answer that now, with more variables added. If you want to end this soon, you should find ways to help us as much as you can." With that, Zhao Shuangdian got up and headed towards the door.
Li Huowang finished his meal, but he still sat there guarding the empty plate, lost in his own thoughts.
Though he understood part of the reality, it did little to improve his current predicament. According to Zhao Shuangdian's theory, Fate Commander on that other elephant remains a threat.
If this issue is not completely resolved, he will forever live under the label of a lunatic.
He doesn't want this. Now that he knows why, he wants to live well and live a life as a proper person.
