The Elf Who Wants to Be Humiliated

Chapter 6 - The Fiancée I Don't Want to Lose (3)

Chapter 6 – The Fiancée I Don’t Want to Lose (3)

My life is ruined, no matter how I look at it.

Hoping for a miraculous recovery at this point would be nothing short of thievery.

“Lord Theorad, try to explain yourself!”

I’m sorry, but I already explained myself, Esili. Just hate me comfortably now. I’m used to being the villain anyway…

When I remained silent, Esili clicked her tongue and stood up.

After glaring at me once, Esili lifted her skirt, went over to the elf, and knelt down beside her.

“Stop picking up the glass. Even if you’re a slave, you don’t need to follow such unreasonable orders.”

“N-no, don’t…”

“I know this isn’t something you’re doing willingly. Don’t threaten your own safety out of needless fear.”

She’s not wrong. If only she had said those words to me instead of the slave, they would have been perfectly accurate.

Contrary to Esili’s thinking, the elf was doing this because she wanted to.

Even now, as Esili clung to her, the elf’s eyebrows were twitching. It was a stubborn expression saying she was annoyed and wanted Esili to go away. Of course, Esili had no way of noticing those true feelings.

“How can such a pitiful and tragic existence be called a life? Does the God of Light, who is said to watch over all people, discriminate between races? It’s heartbreaking beyond words.”

That’s clearly meant for me to hear. She wants to criticize me for violating the doctrine of the God of Light. But this is unfair!

“That’s blasphemy, Esili.”

“Lord Theorad, please be quiet.”

Zap. Her venomous gaze is frightening. I cleared my throat and picked up a cookie. I tried not to show it, but my hand was trembling.

What man wouldn’t feel dejected after receiving contemptuous looks from the woman he loves? I felt like pressing a button for painless death if one existed.

“This won’t do. Elf, what is your name?”

“P-pardon? I am master’s sex slave…”

“I’m not asking for such an inhumane degrading title. I’m asking for the noble name that your parents bestowed upon you at birth in place of the gods.”

“I-I don’t know… A slave like me doesn’t need something like a name.”

“You don’t even remember your own name?”

Esili, wearing a somewhat dumbfounded expression, grabbed the elf’s wrist and tried to help her up.

“That doesn’t matter anymore. Come with me to the castle. There, you can live a comfortable life…”

No. That can’t happen!

Passing off this bomb was fine, but not to the Count’s family! That would be putting the cart before the horse!

I jumped up from my chair in agitation.

“Esili! Your joke has gone too far! This slave is one I purchased!”

“What? Do you think you can own a sentient being with that kind of slave certificate?”

“I can’t own her, but I can claim ownership rights. Take your hands off my slave while I’m still asking nicely!”

“Lord Theorad. You really are…”

Grinding her teeth, Esili let go of the elf’s arm and stood up. With a face full of mixed emotions, she held her breath, then exhaled deeply and looked at me.

“Fine. Let’s do it this way. Whoever this elf chooses-“

“I-I…”

Before Esili could finish speaking, the elf grabbed the hem of my pants.

“I swore to dedicate my body and soul to my master. Even if master impregnates me and abandons me on the street, I will accept it. So I don’t want to serve another master now…”

Thanks for confirming to Esili that I’m trash, you damn woman.

“What…”

Esili seemed dumbfounded by that fact, looking back and forth between me and the elf before turning and walking away. Somehow, disappointment seemed to permeate her every noble step.

The servants heard her footsteps and opened the door, and Esili slipped through the open doorway. Judging by how she didn’t look back once, she must have been quite angry.

“Hic… I-I’m sorry, master… Because of me…”

Meanwhile, I was in a state where I didn’t even have the energy to be angry.

Sensing something was wrong, Habid hurried over as I slumped into a chair.

“Master. What on earth happened…”

Habid broke into a cold sweat upon discovering the elf sitting on the floor collecting glass shards in her maid uniform’s apron, and me hanging my head as if my soul had left my body.

“Why is the teacup broken…? More importantly, are you hurt, Master?”

“…I’m fine.”

My body wasn’t injured.

But my heart…

My heart was shattered.

*

In the carriage returning to the castle.

Esili rested her chin on her hand, gazing with clouded eyes at the constantly changing scenery outside the window.

‘Today’s Theorad was definitely strange.’

The Theorad that Esili knew was a dignified nobleman with a caring disposition.

Not only was he kind to his servants, but he also never spoke harshly to slaves.

That didn’t mean he was merely weak. He knew when to speak up against what was wrong, and was someone who could confidently express his own opinions even in front of his father, the Count.

Furthermore, he never neglected the duties that came with his rights, and his attitude of approaching everything with diligence set an example for other nobles. He was definitely different from those commoners who only had titles.

Esili, too, was attracted to Theorad’s charm and had begged her father for an engagement when she was young.

Because she thought he was someone she could trust and rely on for a lifetime.

‘But, why?’

How could a man of such impeccable character suddenly turn into a good-for-nothing overnight?

Esili still couldn’t understand this fact.

‘Was he bewitched by that elf?’

The elf that Theorad had recently bought as a sex slave.

She was angry that he had bought a sex slave despite having her, but she could tolerate it. After all, it was common for nobles to keep sex slaves in their households.

Even for someone like Theorad who had no interest in women, there had to be a way to release his accumulated sexual desires.

However, when she saw the elf at Theorad’s mansion, she couldn’t help but feel jealous.

‘She was beautiful.’

Even Esili, who had been called a beauty countless times, had to admit that the elf exuded an attractive charm.

Her flowing silver hair was like transparent silk, and her red eyes shone clear like rubies.

And what about those glossy lips and curved figure? Indeed. She had an appearance befitting a race said to be able to surpass a succubus in beauty.

But she decided not to show her jealousy outwardly. That would be unbecoming of a noble. So she greeted Theorad brightly and brought up what she had originally intended to say.

But then.

— ‘A vulgar creature like you is perfect for such a task.’

Theorad suddenly began to disparage the elf. That wasn’t the Theorad she had known. It was unnatural, as if he was pretending to be someone else.

“Hmm.”

Esili pondered. Why did Theorad suddenly act like a scoundrel? Was there a reason there that forced him to act like a scoundrel?

‘You want to break off the engagement?’

That couldn’t be. If he were to marry the second daughter of the Count’s family, not only would the reputation of the Deharm Viscounty rise, but it would also bring enormous benefits.

In aristocratic society, which revolves around connections, marriage to an upper-class noble had the effect of elevating one’s status by a level.

Even apart from that, Theorad had always expressed unlimited affection for her.

He had sent her a carriage full of flowers, and casually handed her crafts he had made himself as if they were nothing special. Just two weeks ago, hadn’t he read her a poem he had written himself right in front of her?

It didn’t make sense that such a person would change completely in just two weeks. This must be what the term ‘contradiction’ was meant for.

‘Then…’

If breaking off the engagement wasn’t his goal, the only person left that Theorad might be cautious around was the elf.

‘The master, Theorad, being cautious around a slave elf?’

This line of thinking was equally contradictory.

Neither seemed to be the correct answer, but one of them had to be.

Yet trying to reason through either assumption didn’t lead to any logical conclusion.

Her head started to ache. Esili frowned, closed the window, and leaned back against the seat of the carriage.

‘I’ll find out when the time comes.’

Soon, when Theorad came to the castle in his position as regent, they would have time to talk alone.

Then she could clear up this long-standing misunderstanding and face the truth.

‘I won’t… tell Father.’

It would be foolish to judge the whole based on just one aspect. Esili decided to keep Theorad’s disgraceful behavior to herself for the time being.

*

Late at night.

I sat in front of my father’s statue, pulling at my hair.

“You idiot…”

What nonsense was that about having a disease that would kill me if I was kind to a slave? What kind of ridiculous garbage was that? No matter how desperate I was for an excuse, I shouldn’t have blurted out such nonsense.

It would have been better if I had made up something about the elf committing a serious mistake the day before, and that I was scolding her now. At least then I might have avoided catastrophe.

“Haah…”

Only sighs escaped me one after another in belated regret.

Someone once said that regretting the past changes nothing, but that’s a saying that only applies to those who haven’t created a past worth regretting.

Even if I don’t want to dwell on the past, how can I forget when it replays itself in my mind unbidden?

And the person who witnessed my disgraceful behavior was none other than my fiancée. Both Esili and I had feelings for each other, and our relationship had been slowly progressing—only to be shattered in an instant.

‘Damn elf.’

That vicious devil woman must have deliberately pushed me toward catastrophe. Isn’t it fair to say she’s trying to destroy all my relationships to make me her possession?

I gritted my teeth in frustration, but nothing changed. She held my lifeline, and no matter how much I struggled, I remained in the palm of the elf’s hand.

But I couldn’t just give in to despair. The more I sank into the pit of despair, the more things would go according to that devil’s intentions.

So for now, I had to let myself be led as she wanted, while constantly looking for a way to break out of this situation.

If I did that, a path would naturally open up. Someday…

Swoosh.

While I was desperately clinging to hope, someone handed me a letter.

A letter? The seal stamped in the wax was something I’d never seen before. As I stared down at it, wondering what this sudden letter was about, I belatedly realized it was a response from the slave trader.

I had sent a letter via witch daily special delivery, so he probably wrote his response right after receiving it.

He must have replied that he would take her back, right?

“Ah. Thank you for delivering the letter……”

As I raised my head to happily receive the letter, I felt every cell in my body freeze.

“You’re welcome.”

The being who delivered the letter to me.

“Master.”

Because she was none other than an elf.
