Tales of the Bizarre: Beware of Your Roommate’s Online Girlfriend

Chapter 4 - You're Not Still a Virgin, Are You?

Xiaoying’s hair was still damp, twisted into a bun at the back of her head.

She was only wrapped in a pink bath towel, her entire shoulders exposed, with some water drops still clinging to her collarbone.

He Gu only glanced at her briefly before awkwardly averting his gaze.

“Can’t you get dressed inside before coming out?”

Who could stand this!?

He Gu complained inwardly, before turning his face away and saying, “Um…should I go out first?”

Xiaoying ignored He Gu and walked straight to the bedside and sat down before saying, “Give me your towel.”

“Oh, okay.” He Gu agreed and went to take his own towel hanging on the wall by the sink and brought it over to Xiaoying.

It was a blue towel, one he seemed to remember buying just a few days ago.

Xiaoying took He Gu’s towel and wrinkled her nose smelling it, then started drying her hair.

The whole process was extremely awkward for He Gu. He didn’t know whether to stand or sit, or where to put his eyes.

“I’ll go buy you a new towel.”

He Gu said and prepared to go out, wanting to avoid this scene that made him both flushed and uneasy.

But He Gu had just lifted his leg when Xiaoying called out to stop him, “Don’t go! I’m scared to be alone!”

He Gu’s body stiffened, unable to refuse her request, and could only stop in his tracks.

After thinking for a moment, He Gu stubbornly asked again, “What about your towel? I still have to compensate you for one.”

Xiaoying casually said, “It’s fine, I’ll just use yours from now on. I don’t mind you.”

He Gu: ……

A few minutes later, Xiaoying finally dried her hair halfway and threw the towel back to He Gu before standing up.

“I’m going to change, turn around.”

Hearing this, He Gu’s heart skipped a beat. “Or I could go out first?”

But Xiaoying seemed intent on not giving He Gu a chance to avoid it, “No need, I don’t mind anyway.”

As she spoke, Xiaoying had already started undoing her towel, not giving He Gu another chance to speak.

Seeing this, He Gu hurriedly turned his back to her, facing the parrot cage in front.

Listening to the rustling sounds behind him, He Gu couldn’t help imagining some scenes in his mind.

Just then, the parrot in front of He Gu suddenly fluttered its wings and started ramming against the cage repeatedly.

“Ahhh – Escape! Escape!”

“Ahhh – Escape! Escape!”

The parrot seemed frightened, crashing against the cage while screaming hoarsely.

As it hit the cage, the parrot would occasionally look back at behind He Gu, with an unexpectedly terrified, humanized look in its eyes, as if it saw something extremely horrifying.

At the same time, He Gu also felt a chill down his back, as if the temperature behind him had instantly dropped below zero.

Just then, He Gu suddenly heard Xiaoying whisper in his ear from behind, “Your parrot is so noisy. By the way, does parrot meat taste good?”

Xiaoying’s voice was very soft, but also very cold, as if she had become a different person. Her tone was strangely creepy.

He Gu’s hairs stood on end instantly, and his scalp tingled.

The parrot…the hidden message said to protect the parrot!

And she was asking a question just now, so it shouldn’t count as a request, right?

“Haha…you really know how to joke around, parrot meat can’t be eaten…”

He Gu forced out a reply.

“Hehe…I’m just teasing you.”

Xiaoying’s voice suddenly returned to normal, coming from her position by Zhang Chao’s bed.

At the same time, the parrot that had just been frightened also calmed down and started pecking at its food quietly.

“I’m changed, you can turn around now.” Xiaoying said from behind.

He Gu steeled himself and turned around to see Xiaoying had changed into a light purple nightgown. She looked perfectly normal, and he secretly breathed a sigh of relief.

That moment earlier was so bizarre, He Gu still felt suffocated.

If he had said the wrong thing…he might already be dead!

After adjusting his breathing, He Gu slowly relaxed.

Seeing it was already noon, He Gu said, “It’s meal time, you must be hungry too? I’ll go to the cafeteria and bring back some food?”

He Gu really wanted to get some fresh air. Being cooped up with Xiaoying, going from steamy to terrifying, he felt nearly exhausted.

But unexpectedly Xiaoying shook her head refusing He Gu’s suggestion, “I don’t want to eat, I brought instant hot pot…”

As she spoke, Xiaoying bent down and took out an instant hot pot from the second layer of her luggage, and looked up to say, “You don’t need to go to the cafeteria either, eat with me.”

He Gu smiled bitterly to himself, damn, she just won’t let me leave!

But the rules said he couldn’t refuse Xiaoying, so He Gu had no choice but to reluctantly agree, “Okay.”

Fifteen minutes later, the instant hot pot was cooked.

He Gu found a small table board and placed it on Zhang Chao’s bed. The two sat facing each other, one at the head and one at the foot of the bed, and started eating.

In fact, He Gu had no appetite at the moment.

Although this was a haunted world, eating hot pot on a roommate’s bed with the roommate’s online girlfriend…no matter how he thought about it, it felt very awkward.

Especially with Xiaoying only wearing a loose nightgown, sitting cross-legged on the bed. As she occasionally lowered her head to eat, glimpses could be caught of her spring beauty above and below. He Gu didn’t know where to put his eyes.

Xiaoying ate with sweat beading on her forehead, while He Gu just fiddled with his chopsticks perfunctorily.

Neither spoke, and the atmosphere was somewhat awkward for a time.

“Pass me some napkins.”

When the food in the pot was nearly finished, Xiaoying broke the silence.

He Gu handed her some napkins. Xiaoying wiped her mouth, then suddenly scolded, “That bastard Zhang Chao! Scum man! Big liar!”

He Gu nodded in agreement, “What this punk did really wasn’t upright.”

Unexpectedly, Xiaoying changed direction mid-sentence, “I just messaged breaking up with him. I’m single again now.”

He Gu smiled dryly, not knowing how to respond.

Xiaoying went on, “Next time I find a boyfriend, I want to find a handsome one like you.”

“Oh right, this was the first time I met him. I just got off the train and he brought me here. We haven’t done anything yet.”

He Gu: ????

Why are you telling me this!?

He didn’t know if it was from the steam of the hot pot, but Xiaoying’s cheeks were flushed, looking extremely charming.

Her gaze had also become much gentler, smiling ambiguously at He Gu.

He Gu broke out in goosebumps, and his heartbeat quickened inexplicably.

The atmosphere in the room was growing strange.

“I’m full!”

He Gu stood up awkwardly, wanting to escape from this precarious place, even if just temporarily.

“What’s the rush! Sit and chat with me!”

Xiaoying pouted and said, her voice vaguely coquettish.

He Gu was extremely troubled, but couldn’t refuse her and could only stiffly sit back down on the bed.

Just then, Xiaoying suddenly stretched out a fair, bare foot from under the table and touched He Gu’s knee, “Hey, you’re not still a virgin, are you?”
