Chapter 10 - Wang Tao's Somnambulistic Adventure! A Shocking Morning
Standing in his underwear shivering at someone else’s dorm room staring blankly at a parrot early in the morning…
This was clearly not normal behavior!
Especially since he was staring at the parrot, it made He Gu extra vigilant.
No one understood the parrot’s importance in this dormitory better than He Gu.
At this moment, Wang Tao was standing sideways facing He Gu with his head tilted back, so He Gu couldn’t see his facial expression clearly.
However, He Gu noticed there seemed to be faint purplish-black lines on his neck, which looked rather sinister.
As He Gu stared at Wang Tao in suspicion, the parrot in the birdcage was also gazing down at Wang Tao, with a hint of human-like intelligence in its eyes.
Just as He Gu was about to ask Wang Tao what he was doing, the parrot suddenly fluttered its wings and squawked, “Welcome!”
“Welcome!”
…
The sudden duck-like squawking made He Gu jump.
So this bird doesn’t just yell “Escape” huh?
But why did it suddenly yell “Welcome” out of nowhere?
The parrot squawked twice and then fell silent, turning its head to look at He Gu instead.
Its gaze…seemed to be trying to tell He Gu something, but He Gu was utterly confused.
This parrot was definitely not ordinary!
He Gu reaffirmed in his mind.
After looking at the parrot for a while without gleaning anything, He Gu turned back to Wang Tao.
Wang Tao was still maintaining his earlier posture, shivering uncontrollably.
He Gu hesitated, then reached out and patted Wang Tao’s shoulder. “What are you doing?”
But as soon as his palm touched Wang Tao, He Gu’s heart tightened.
So cold!
The touch…felt like freshly refrigerated raw meat!
Additionally, Wang Tao did not react at all after He Gu patted him.
He Gu’s scalp tingled instantly. Could he be dead?!
Thinking of this, He Gu hurriedly nudged Wang Tao again. “Hey!”
This push made Wang Tao stumble, and he finally reacted, turning to He Gu somewhat stiffly. “Are you also waiting for the roast duck to finish cooking?”
As he spoke, a trail of drool leaked from the corner of Wang Tao’s mouth.
“What roast duck…”
He Gu was halfway through speaking when he suddenly realized Wang Tao’s eyes were closed!
He was sleepwalking!
He was actually sleepwalking!
In that instant, goosebumps erupted all over He Gu’s body.
Dorm Rule #10: If you see Wang Tao sleepwalking, don’t disturb him. Go back to your own dorm immediately!
He Gu had clearly already disturbed the somnambulistic Wang Tao!
Just as He Gu was filled with terror, Wang Tao suddenly grabbed his wrist. “The roast duck isn’t ready yet. I’ll take you to get roast meat first.”
As he spoke, Wang Tao started dragging He Gu away.
He Gu was drenched in cold sweat and panicked, desperately trying to yank his hand back.
However, Wang Tao’s strength was frightening. He Gu only felt like his wrist was clamped in a tiger trap, unable to break free no matter how he struggled.
Not giving He Gu a chance to resist, Wang Tao had already dragged him several steps away.
Panicking, He Gu struggled with all his might, but it was completely futile.
Wang Tao’s strength was inhuman. No matter how He Gu thrashed about, he was unaffected, steadily dragging He Gu forward.
In a moment, Wang Tao had already hauled He Gu to the door of the next dorm room over.
Wang Tao pushed open the door and tried to pull He Gu inside.
At this time, it was still dark outside before dawn, and this dorm room had no lights on, leaving the interior pitch black.
Seeing the gaping black doorway, He Gu was completely frightened. If he got dragged in, he’d surely be done for!
In this instant, He Gu exerted every ounce of strength in his body, bracing his feet against the door frame with all his might, barely stopping Wang Tao from pulling him in.
But Wang Tao did not give up, mechanically tugging He Gu and trying to walk into the room.
The two were temporarily at an impasse.
At this time, He Gu was extremely anxious, and his wrist was also in immense pain, as if Wang Tao would rip it off at any moment.
Time trickled by slowly as the deadlock continued. After some time, He Gu was nearly out of strength.
“I’m finished. Looks like I’m really done for today…”
He Gu let out a bitter laugh in his mind.
He had survived the myriad dangers on the first day, yet would die to a “door kill” on the second morning.
He blamed himself for being careless, for not immediately checking if Wang Tao was sleepwalking when he first saw him…
As He Gu was filled with regret, a shout suddenly rang out from the other end of the hallway: “You two, what are you doing?!”
It was the dorm manager’s voice!
He Gu’s heart leaped with joy. Glancing back, he saw a stocky silhouette approaching them from the end of the hallway.
Though the hallway was dimly lit now, obscuring the person’s appearance, He Gu was almost certain it was the dorm manager uncle!
He was saved!
But He Gu noticed Wang Tao seemed to be in a hurry, using even more strength to try and drag He Gu inside.
The dorm manager had also started jogging over. “You two, no horseplay in the hallway!”
As he spoke, the dorm manager drew closer and closer.
When there was only about 5 meters between the dorm manager and He Gu, Wang Tao suddenly let go.
At the same time, He Gu heard a miserable cat yowl come from Wang Tao’s dorm room.
After Wang Tao released his hand, He Gu couldn’t stop his momentum in time and tumbled awkwardly to the floor.
Meanwhile, the dorm manager had reached a spot less than 3 meters away from He Gu.
At this time, He Gu finally saw clearly.
It really was the dorm manager uncle, but he was wearing a security uniform and holding a half-meter long cleaver, which seemed to have bloodstains on it…
Dorm Rule #5: The dorm manager can be trusted, unless he’s in uniform.
The current dorm manager was in uniform and wielding a knife. He did not seem safe at all!
“Are you okay, student?”
The dorm manager approached He Gu.
He Gu was instantly jolted alert. He scrambled up from the floor and turned to run back to his dorm room.
With just a few steps across the short distance, He Gu leapt to his door, remembering to grab the birdcage hanging by the door before quickly rushing in and locking his dorm room door.
The moment He Gu shut his dorm room door, another miserable cat yowl sounded from the hallway outside.
Shortly after, He Gu heard knocking sounds, as if the dorm manager was knocking on Wang Tao and the other’s dorm room door?
The knocking continued for a while, and soon the sound of a door opening could be heard.
Following that, He Gu heard crashing sounds, as if someone was smashing things.
“Meow!”
“Meow!”
…
The miserable cat cries grew louder and more urgent, one after another.
At the same time, banging sounds, frantic footsteps…all kinds of noises rang out.
Added to the desperate cat yelps, it sounded like someone was brawling with a feral cat outside.
The chaotic din continued for about a minute before abruptly stopping.
Clutching the birdcage, He Gu stood behind the door with goosebumps, listening intently.
After a while, He Gu heard a set of footsteps slowly moving away.
Once the footsteps had completely faded away, He Gu cautiously opened his door a crack and peeked out.
He just saw the dorm manager dragging a figure disappearing around the corner of the stairwell at the end of the hallway…
