My Pro Boxer System

Chapter 37: Come Home With Me

I smiled at her when she told me her answer. I had an inkling about why she had failed at boxing before, and that rule I made about her having to follow every single one of my instructions stemmed from that feeling I had.

Soon, we came to the spot where we must part ways, so I bid her farewell with a wave.

"Remember, our real training starts tomorrow," I reminded her.

She smiled hesitantly and then walked off. Just as she disappeared from sight, the person who had been trailing us since we exited the school made her presence known. I was honestly surprised that Ivy hadn't noticed her, considering how poor she was at tailing us.

"Did you really have to wait outside my school all day?" I asked Yuki, who emerged from behind a light post and walked towards me with her arms folded. "You know, at some point, this will be considered stalking."

"I'm not as well-off as you," she snapped, clearly irritated for some reason. "I can't just go wherever I please without facing consequences."

What did she mean? Her words made me feel that the only reason she was staying nearby was not solely to keep an eye on me. I suddenly recalled our conversation from this morning, where she had basically demanded that I pay her taxi fare.

Was she really that strapped for cash that she couldn't even cover a cab fare to go back home? I found it hard to believe, considering she worked for a gang. They must be paying her something, right?

"How much do you need?" I asked.

"What?!"

"For the fare, I mean." She looked at me with a bewildered expression. The last time I traveled to Firefly District, the fare was $7, so I promptly took out my wallet and handed her the money.

She stared at the cash in her palm before her fingers tightened around it. For a moment, I thought I had satisfied her, but…

THRIP!

THRIP!

THRIP!

She tore the cash into pieces and then tossed it back at me.

"I don't need your charity," she sneered, practically fuming with rage. "What is it with you people?! The moment you realize I don't have any money, you think you can buy me!"

"I'm just trying to help."

"No, you're trying to get rid of me so I won't interrupt your perfect life! Your suburban house, your nice family, your cute girlfriend! It's all utter bullshit!"

Things escalated quickly. I had a feeling her words were rooted in something deeper. It sounded like jealousy. But what kind of life has she lived that could cause her to be envious of mine? I shuddered at the thought.

Tears welled up in the corners of her eyes, but she quickly wiped them away. She glanced at the tears on her hand in disbelief. It was like her emotions burst out without her realizing it. After seeing that she was almost crying, she quickly composed herself.

"Just forget it," she finally said. "I'll continue to watch you until it's time for your match."

She started to walk away, but I grabbed her by the arm.

"Come home with me."

"Huh?"

I had approached the situation incorrectly the first time. Sending her away would only make things harder for her. I saw that now. The best way to help was to assist her in doing her job.

"It would make things easier. My mom works late, and my sister said she would be staying over at a friend's house, so it will just be the two of us. If we're in the same house, it would be easier for you to keep an eye on me."

She couldn't refute my logic.

"Okay… fine."

Luckily, when I got home, neither my mom nor Thalia was there. Yuki hesitated at the door for a moment before I invited her in. When she stepped inside, she gazed around the house with an amazed look on her face.

She looked as if she had just entered a mansion but my house wasn't anything special. It was just a regular 3-bedroom house but the way she was gazed around, you would think it was something extraordinary.

"Have a seat," I gestured toward the couch.

Following my suggestion, she sat down on the couch and rubbed her hands along the soft cushion. A red blush spread across her face as she felt the softness of the material.

"This is where you live, huh? It feels nice to sit on a couch that isn't infested with termites or smells like a wet dog," she said, leaning back into the soft cushions.

"I'm glad you like it," I replied, making my way to the kitchen.

Considering she had spent the whole day outside my school waiting for me with no money. I guessed she hadn't eaten anything. Alexa had taught me a little about cooking so I could gradually start making my own food.

"I'll make us something to eat; I'm feeling a bit hungry," I shouted from the kitchen.

It was best to disguise it as me feeling hungry, or she might get upset and think that I was taking pity on her.

"O-okay!"

A little while later, I returned from the kitchen holding two plates. My mother had bought some plantains, so I sliced them and fried them like chips. The plantains were for us to snack on; the main dish consisted of two sandwiches I had prepared.

When I stepped out of the kitchen into the living room, I noticed she was holding a picture in her hand. It was a family photo taken during my family's last camping trip years ago; back when my father was still alive.

"Your sister looks miserable," Yuki commented on the image.

"Yeah, she was. She and my mom always hated the outdoors."

For the first time since I had arrived, she smiled, but it was somewhat bitter. I wanted to ask about her family, but I refrained thinking it might bring up bad memories or something.

"What's that?" she asked, looking at the two plates in my hands.

"Oh, I made something for both of us to eat."

She frowned.

"I had a lot of homework, so I thought some company would be nice," I explained.

She stared at me suspiciously before saying, "Thank you."

"No problem, let's eat in my room."

I led her to my room, and once again she surveyed the space as if she had stepped into a fantasy world. However, her amazed expression quickly turned to a frown when she saw the numerous game posters of half-naked women adorning the walls.

"Pervert," she muttered under her breath. "I knew you were a creep. Am I even safe here?"

"Hey, cool it with the insults, would you?"

"Why should I? You're clearly of unsound mind, showcasing your fetishes for all to see. Is this what you're into—women wearing armor that resembles a bikini? Are you one of those weird gooners? What does your girlfriend have to say about this?"

"What girlfriend are you talking about exactly?" I asked.

"Don't play dumb. That girl from before. You two seemed way too chummy to be just friends."

"But we are just friends."

She frowned, clearly not believing a word I said.

"Fine, whatever. You said you wanted to do homework, so get to it."

Yuki and I found a spot on the floor and enjoyed the meal I had prepared while I finished up my homework. She seemed uninterested in what I was doing, which made me suspicious that this girl had never been to school in her life.

She could barely read, and apart from that, she didn't seem to know much else. Soon, she limited herself to teasing me while I worked. She was restless, inspecting everything in my room and taking jabs at me about them. After a while, she took off her socks, climbed into my bed, and fell asleep while hugging my pillow between her legs.

I couldn't deny how cute she looked while sleeping, almost like an untouched doll. She seemed to be the type of girl who cared deeply about her appearance. Her skin was flawless and had a captivating radiance to it. With her slender figure and cute face, she would surely be popular if she attended school.

While she slept and I finished my homework and decided to complete my training quest for the day.
